Well w1 seems to be going well, official WI not until Monday but had a wee step on the scales this morning and it looks like I'm down 3.5lbs so far. Finding meals easy but missing snacking on anything other than fruit so any snack tips would be welcome. Off to the cinema this afternoon so that'll be another test... How do I work out syns in things not on the list? Thanks

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/09/2013 09:58

Teacup - boiled eggs - ham - mugshots - pasta and sauce - chicken - ml yog

I've lost half a pound again this week. It's really disappointing. I need to have a couple of good weeks now or I'm going to lose all motivation completely. I think I'll try writing it all down again, maybe I'm forgetting some of my syns sometimes.

LOW SYN CHOCOLATE

I knew that'd get your attention!

I've just rejoined SW after having my second baby and had a good first week. I'm really missing the sweet stuff though - the cakes, biscuits, chocolate, sweets... Please could you share your ideas for low syn sweet treats to satisfy my cravings? Muller Lights and bananas just aren't doing it for me! Preferably grab and go ones - not much time to make anything with a six week old baby and a three year old!

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 28/09/2013 21:50

A multipack Flake is only 7 Syns, and a Fry's Chocolate Cream is only 10 Smile

Other than that, homemade rice pudding isn't too bad if you make it with an A portion of milk - I loathe canderel/ stevia etc. so I use a very little sugar and cinnamon to flavour and sweeten it. A portion milk also gets made up into custard here too, good with banana!

I've recently been having a baked apple with mincemeat for a b portion, served with a bit of 0% Greek yoghurt and a bit of cinnamon.

HTH.

Thanks Boots, great ideas! Will add Flakes to my shopping list and I like the idea of using my HexA milk for something more adventurous than hot chocolate! Rice pudding is substantial too so I might feel more satisfied after that than the hot choc :)

Minimammoth · 29/09/2013 13:55

I have been quite good this week, I got some rich tea for dunking, but I just want to eat a LOT more than one or two. Rice pud is a good idea.

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 29/09/2013 15:53

Ooh, rich tea.... Trouble is I would happily eat a packet, so I generally don't go there at the moment!

Minimammoth · 29/09/2013 17:32

Am thinking same. Someone at group mentioned they were low syn, but you can't stop at one. Just had lamb chops, baked on pampered chef stone, so no extra fat needed, all cut off, and noticed that mint sauce and cranberry jelly hardly any syns. < polishes halo>

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 29/09/2013 19:18

We had roast chicken with a mountain of salad veg and a small wholemeal roll. Was nice but I'm peckish, think I should have made potato wedges instead of the bread. Watching Great British Bake-off is not helping!!

Fairygen · 29/09/2013 19:28

Went out for Sunday lunch. Didn't have gravy or horseradish but made up for it with a mountain of roast potatoes ( I couldn't resist them!) and sticky toffee pudding ( decided I'd totally blown it with the spuds, so thought sod it!!!)

Back to basics tomorrow and loads of super free.

holidaysarenice · 29/09/2013 21:51

Aggh its been a fortnight since my weigh in and I have no idea, some very synful days, some days in hospital, and some off plan days but with not much food since. And then a massive italian tonight....

Who knows tomorrow....

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 30/09/2013 10:04

Aargh. I have eaten all my Syns already! This is not going to be a super on-plan day, is it?

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 30/09/2013 17:15

I estimate I am at about 60 Syns today already. Oh well, I can start again tomorrow.... I weigh in tomorrow morning so perhaps that will draw a line under it.

thinkfast · 30/09/2013 20:05

Marking place. Just joined last week and think I've lost about 3lb already. In an ideal world I need to lose 6 stone but I'd settle for 31/2. Does this diet really work? Can't see how I can eat pasta and baked potatoes and still lose weight....

SummerHoliDidi · 30/09/2013 20:51

It does work think. As long as you follow the plan and don't cheat (that's my mistake Blush). Have faith in it even though it doesn't really follow the calorie counting wisdom that so many people subscribe to.

I've gone back to basics this week. I'm writing down everything I've eaten and I'm trying to stick to 10syns a day instead of allowing myself the full 15 and then forgetting to look some things up so I actually end up eating more like 20 My home scales say I've lost 2lbs already since Saturday. I'm not sure that's right, but I'm definitely going to have a better week this week.

Minimammoth · 01/10/2013 08:45

WI tonight, might have lost half a pound, I need to weigh my clothes carefullyGrin

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 01/10/2013 12:18

WI this morning. I thoroughly deserved my half pound gain. Humph.

PennyHofstadter · 01/10/2013 14:02

Hi, I'm new to SW and I have around 3 1/2 stones to lose. I had my first weigh in last Thursday and lost 2.5lb which I must admit I was disappointed about as my sister lost 8lb on her first weigh in and her SIL lost 6lb. I guess my 2.5lb seemed a bit measly! Unfortunately I then had a friends birthday on Saturday and drank alot of wine and had party food (damn those sausage rolls!) I've also got a 3 course works meal tonight and the menu was picked weeks ago before I joined SW so no chance of changing it. I'm very tempted not to bother going to WI on Thursday as I know I will have gained (my own scales say so) and TOTM is also upon me so I've bloated up like a balloon. To be honest I'm feeling miserable about the whole thing, my sister and her SIL are proof that it works but I can't see it for myself at the moment, to only lose 2.5lb and then put that back on the week after is just depressing tbh.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2013 14:14

sw does work, if you stick toit and i stick to it for afew weeks/months then have blips Hmm

i also work nights which i think totally fucks up my body clock/stomach intakr

AbbyLou · 01/10/2013 18:30

So weigh-in in about half an hour! Dreading it as always. I couldn't go last week so hoping to have lost a bit. Had a bit of a blip at the weekend with an all you can eat buffet but been pretty good at other times.

Fairygen · 01/10/2013 18:53

Totally lost the plot this week!!!
Think I need my jaws wired shut!

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 01/10/2013 19:16

Lost 4lbs in my first week Smile really pleased! Finding this week tough, got a big night out with work at the Indian and eating out tonight though... Hoping I'm doing enough to balance them out!

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 01/10/2013 19:24

That's great, gin!

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 01/10/2013 19:27

Fairy, let me know when you go for the wiring, I'll come too Grin

Never mind, I've actually eaten so much rubbish over the past 48 hours that I'm ready to get back into my free foods properly tomorrow. Onwards!
