Risotto? We are out to Italian tomorrow, I am planning Rissotto and side salad. Might need to syn in cream, and shall avoid garlic bread. G n T rather than wine for me too.

BeGoodElliot · 20/09/2013 12:35

I went for an Italian meal last night and I had spaghetti with meatballs, which I thought was the best choice from the menu, avoided garlic bread and desserts.

Have another night out tonight which is basically pub grub, so thinking tonight might be a bit harder! Don't go out for meals often and then two fall at the same time! Typical!! Grin

Fairygen · 20/09/2013 14:12

-2lbs this week, and got my 10% award!!! Need 1lb next week for my stone and a half.

Really chuffed because I went to visit relatives yesterday and had lunch. I NEVER eat lunch on Thursday, but it was SW friendly.

pinkoneblueone · 20/09/2013 19:18

Pub grub...they will prob have a baked potato on the menu with beans. Most places do its what i usually go for when out

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 20/09/2013 23:02

I had mushroom risotto and a side salad. That's not too bad, is it?

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 22/09/2013 15:05

Hello all! Can I join? I'm a bit short on both time and £ at the moment but a lovely friend has sent me the plans so I think I'm ready to start tomorrow... I've already done this weeks shopping, not ideal but I don't think its disastrous, I might have a few more syns wasted on meals where I could've been smarter but I think I'd rather that than wait another week. If I post my food diary here for the first few weeks would you mind pointing out anything I'm doing wrong? Looking forward to trying some of the recipes etc... Weighed myself today at 12st 8, will get an official start weight tomorrow morning though. First target is 11st7 (my pre pg weight) then 10st 7 (my happy weight, I'm 5ft8 so that's about right I think) Quite excited to get going! Any tips etc would be appreciated :)

Minimammoth · 22/09/2013 18:37

Back from our weekend party trip. Had fish and veg at restaurant, but the breakfasts at b&b may have tipped me over. Not to mention the choc cake. Oh well. Fingers crossed that a long walk cancelled it out.

beanandspud · 22/09/2013 21:47

I'm back again and just trying to catch up on the last week of SW posts.

Managed -2lb last week so was really pleased. Have had a pretty good week this week despite being away with work and staying in hotels which is generally a recipe for disaster. Last night went a bit wrong though with wine and chocolate, we'll see...

Have started ordering a veg box to be delivered every week and it's forcing me to cook loads of veggie casseroles and soups which is a good thing. Have also mangaged to run a couple of evenings, only a couple of miles at a time but hoping to get back to what I used to do.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend? Got the new SW magazine so heading off to bed with an options hot chocolate to read it - it's rock and roll here Grin.

beanandspud · 22/09/2013 21:50

Hello ginandleaves! Good luck starting tomorrow, feel free to post your menus and I'm sure there will be someone along with comments/tips.

My only advice would be to stick to the plan, even if it seems as if you're eating loads. Also be prepared for it to be a fairly slow and steady weight loss - it does work but it's not an instant result - more about finding a new way of eating.

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 22/09/2013 22:31

I've been thinking about a veg box too, bean - might go and do something about it tomorrow!

SummerHoliDidi · 23/09/2013 16:20

I lost half a pound on Sat clothing weight as I was wearing the lightest outfit I own. I'm now wearing smaller trousers than I was when I started, which is a good thing Grin. I'm now a size 16-18 rather than an 18-20. I'm trying to do really well this week because I need to start wearing weather appropriate clothes to group and would still like to see a loss, so I need to lose at least 2lbs just to cover the trousers and top instead of thin cotton summer dress. I made a huge pan of soup yesterday afternoon, all free so that's lunch all week, and it's quite tasty as well which is good.

Fairy I'm Envy of your 10% award. I've still got 5lbs before I get that, and 4.5lbs to get my stone and a half. I'm aiming to get both of those the same week in about 2 weeks time, although I'm not going to strop if it takes me 3 weeks instead of 2.

Welcome gin. I think we'll all be happy to mark your food diary and steal any interesting things you do. We're a pretty friendly bunch, and we do seem to share recipes sometimes.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 23/09/2013 17:14

Thank you! Today has been ok, I'm hungry though- guess I need to get better at planning. Dinner is on and I'm definitely looking forward to it...

B: porridge with 180mls skimmed milk (used the rest for tea etc throughout the day)

L: leek and potato soup (6syns? Only 150cals but not sure how to count it)

Snack: banana, mandarin, fat free yog, treat Milky Way (4syns)

D: homemade chilli (counting 1syn as has a glass of red wine in it split between 6 portions) baked potato, green salad, baby corn

Tonight: berries, meringue, low fat aerosol cream (3.5 syns)

So, 14.5 syns in total - does that look ok? Please bear in mind I'm trying to make my normal shopping fit so not terribly great planning.

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 23/09/2013 18:35

I think a can of leek and potato soup is about 8 Syns?

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 23/09/2013 18:39

Oops, depends on brand, Tesco's own is 6.5.

Minimammoth · 23/09/2013 22:17

Reckon I have put on the couple of pounds I'd taken off. With clothes it'll be another no loss wkSad heeeelllppp

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 24/09/2013 07:50

Just thought I'd pop in with a quick plan for today. Today and tomorrow are going to be a challenge as I'm away from home with work and out for dinner tonight...

B: porridge, skimmed milk, berries (HEA + HEB)

L: leftover chilli and potato from last night with green beans (1 syn)

Snacks: nectarine, kiwi, fat free yog

D: had a look at the menu bad considering veg soup, it says dairy free and only if everyone else is having a starter, then there's lots of meat so something lean with veg/boiled potatoes instead of chips, there's sorbet in the pudding menu, or Eton mess?

How many syns in a gin and slim? If I suddenly stop drinking there will be rumours that I'm pg round the company like wildfire! And it's a really boring dinner that needs gin... Hoping I can manage this without too much damage.

Period started yesterday so feeling all bloated and craving chocolate ??

Minimammoth · 24/09/2013 08:06

4 syns in gin n slim35ml gin, but most bought measures are only25ml. So about 3 reckon.

beanandspud · 24/09/2013 08:40

ginandleaves - Veg soup is probably ok followed by meat, veg and potatoes. I would skip the pudding - even sorbet is likely to be full of sugar (and syns). I am away a lot with work and often find that a quiet word with a friendly waiter will get me a bowl of fruit salad instead of pudding Smile.

Fill your bag with Alpen light bars and fruit - it's the plates of cake and biscuits that come with every coffee break that finish me off!

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 24/09/2013 09:33

Thanks for the tip beans, might just ask for a coffee instead of pudding. Not flying in until shortly before dinner so limited biscuit shaped temptations, that will come tomorrow I fear! Swapped breaking for 1 slice whole meal toast and beans, means I can keep my milk for a skinny flat white at the airport.

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 24/09/2013 10:14

1lb off Smile

Minimammoth · 24/09/2013 12:53

Well done boots. I was hoping for loss this wk. weigh in this evening, I seem to be back at square one after getting my hope up last Friday. Hey ho.

Fairygen · 24/09/2013 17:30

Well done boots

Been busy the last couple of days and keep missing meals which means I end up grabbing a 'couple' of biscuits. Arrgghh, hoping to pull it back tomorrow, in time for wi on Thursday, but I very much doubt it'll make any difference.

summer keep going. I feel like it has taken me an eternity to lose 10% but it's been worth it. People have started asking if I'm dieting, so it must be starting to show.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2013 18:02

well done all - body clock up the wall again as working nights 'sighs' so sts last week, guess better then nothing or a gain :)

welcome all newbies, and good luck

and fairy, scan bran is rank!!! Grin

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 24/09/2013 19:45

Someone at group today said they made ginger cake with scanbran. Has anyone tried it?

SummerHoliDidi · 24/09/2013 19:54

I tried it. It was rubbish - don't bother. I also tried chocolate cake with scan bran - also rubbish. Anything with scan bran is awful, no matter how many people try to tell me otherwise.
