holiday well done - hope u r feeling better though

Huffpot · 26/08/2013 12:47

curly try the scan bran with 0% greek yoghurt with some sweetener in it spread on them and top with banana and/or strawberry. Its actually not bad then. Or sometimes I used to put some options in the yoghurt for syns to make it like a chocolate spread then top with strawberries - felt really naughty then

Curlywurlysareyum · 26/08/2013 18:18

Thanks huffpot will def try that!!

Fairygen · 26/08/2013 19:30

curly, no I haven't tried scan bran yet, although I've changed to all bran for breakfast. I seem to only lose 1.5lbs, no matter how good I've been! I go with someone, and she loses 2-3 lbs most weeks, and eats hardly any super free. We started off at the same weight, and she's lost over 1.5 stone and I haven't even got my bloody stone yet!! Arrgghhh

I'm starting to wonder if exercise might be the answer. I walk loads with the dog, but if I'm honest with myself it's more gentle strolling. I have very intention of getting up in the morning and sticking on the DVD, but I always end up pottering around the house, any excuse

Next week I might start writing everything down. It's a bit of a ball ache but it does make me think about what I'm putting in my mouth

Curlywurlysareyum · 26/08/2013 21:25

Yes fairy I'm with u on the exercise. My DVD just gathering dust lol! Think that's what I will change next week. 1lb a week still a lot (that's over a stone by Xmas) so let's be positive !! It's so hard though when others eat less super free and lose more. I'm just so impatient!

AbbyLou · 26/08/2013 22:02

Hi everyone. Please can I join this thread? Tomorrow I am joining slimming world for the first time ever. I think I have about 2 1/2 to 3 stone to lose. I am really nervous about going but I have to do it. Hoping to get lots of tips and support from you ladies.

Huffpot · 27/08/2013 08:22

Welcome AbbyLou
Don't be nervous....everyone is lovely

It's so frustrating. I put on 1.5lbs last week and have a friend who only put on half after eating crap and drinking wine every day sigh

Just be careful of scan branning every day(if you're like me)....I tried it once and ended up on the loo in the middle of the night for over an hour with terrible stomach pains!

TheDetective · 27/08/2013 10:39

I think I'll give scan bran a miss. They've been talking about it on my FB group. Yuk!

AbbyLou I was incredibly nervous when I first went. However 4 months down the line, I've made some fabulous new friends, and I've lost over 2 stone in weight! You will be fine! It's so simple to follow, and there is lots of help on here! :)

I jumped on the scales again this morning. 4lb off since WI on Thurs Shock. Considering I had lost 0.5lb in 2 weeks, seems my body has decided to make up for it! I want another 1lb before thursday! Or even 1.5lb as that would give me my 2.5 stone award! Eeeek!

Eyes on the prize... eyes on the prize.

AbbyLou · 27/08/2013 10:47

Thank you for the welcomes! The day has come and I am feeling ready but still a little apprehensive. It is at 7pm.
What on earth is scan-branning? Sounds like I have a whole new language to learn!

Fairygen · 27/08/2013 13:01

Don't worry Abbylou. Everyone is so friendly, and you're all in the same boat.

I have come off the two unofficial SW pages on fb. Our group one is lovely, but on the other two people just seemed to spend all the time arguing. I can't be bothered with it all.

Jumped on the scales, again, and still no change. Super speed soup bubbling away now

holidaysarenice · 27/08/2013 16:20

Thanks! I definitely feel better curlywurly

abbeylou you'll be fine, some groups are better than others but they are all welcoming!!

What's the recipe for super speed soup?

Fairygen · 27/08/2013 19:18

Super speed soup,
1 tin mixed bean salad
2 tins chopped toms
Onion
Carrots
Leeks
Red pepper

The recipe also says lentils, parsnips and a tin of baked beans, but I wanted to keep the carbs at a minimum, as I need to take drastic action!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/08/2013 19:40

welcome newbies and well done oldies

ShiftyFades · 27/08/2013 20:39

Well my third weigh in, so 2 weeks of being on SW... I lost just 1lb but I really thought I'd put on GrinGrinGrin
I even had a curry last Thurs Grin

4lb in 2 weeks, not bad, Hoping for at least 2 next week.

AbbyLou · 28/08/2013 09:17

Hi everyone, well I did it! I was so nervous walking through the door but the people were lovely. There was a new leader there who was on his first night too so that made me feel better. I liked the feel of the group and felt very welcome.
Having only done ww in the past it feels very very different. I can't believe how many things I can eat for free. I think it will take a little while to get me head round it, there was a lot to take in. I think I have understood it all correctly. Could you just confirm for me - I know Syns are between 5-15 a day. Does that mean I have to have 5? Also with the HE, do I always have to have those too? I guess the plan works better if you follow it exactly.
This morning I have had two boiled eggs but no toast because we only had white bread and I wasn't prepared to use that many Syns in one go! I have had a cup of tea with a sweetener and some milk from my HE which I've measured out and put in a bottle in the fridge.
This morning I am going shopping and have done my meal plan for the next couple of days. We are off to the seaside for a couple of days at the weekend so that may be tricky but I am determined to stick to it.

Fairygen · 28/08/2013 09:56

abbylou, I used to do WW. SW is great, if you're having a hungry day you CAN have more pasta, or potatoes!! I have found the weight loss slower, but I'm never hungry. Our consultant says the key is super free ( fruit and veg). I admit I'm a pig, so have a normal portion of dinner and then load my plate with veg and/or salad.

I normally have to have my a and b. I use my a for milk in coffee throughout the day, and my b for porridge in the morning.

I can't really comment on the syns question, I always go over at the weekend and then have to have a syn free week! Our consultant has said that if you've got 2-4 stone to lose, have 15 a day. I think the idea is that when you get down to nearer your goal weight and losses slow down, you can cut back on syns.

AbbyLou · 28/08/2013 14:09

Thanks Fairygen. I can't get my head around the fact that I can eat as much pasta as I like!
On Wednesdays in the holidays we have to have a cooked meal at lunchtime as the dc have swimming at teatime so I have just had the opportunity to try out my first SW recipe. I bought a magazine last night at the class and did the chicken tacos out of it. It was gorgeous and even the dc loved it. Dh was very impressed too! The whole meal was free apart from the taco shells so it was only 3 syns. I was so full and there is so much left! I always like to have something sweet after my meal so I had a strawberry Mullerlight with chopped up strawberries in it. I feel very satisfied and if I can lose weight eating like this I will be very happy.

trinitybleu · 28/08/2013 14:21

hello all ... have been off work for a week and I wi using the scales there so desperate to hop on and see what's happening. 2 days to go!

Have been super good all weekend, even making one bottle of Bulmers last 2 days!

Just been to Aldi and done a massive shop, but am confused by yogurts ... are any of theirs free? Web searches seem to give widely varying answers!

higgle · 29/08/2013 11:31

I was very surprised to lose 3lb ( over 2 weeks) at yesterdays weigh in. In the last fortnight I've had my wedding anniversary, birthday and several work lunches so I was half expecting to have put on a bit ( though I did feel thinner) Just goes to show that if you get back on the wagon the next day and stick to it the rest of the time the odd days of transgression don't impact much. I got my 2 1/2 stone sticker yesterday so only another stone and possibly 6lb to go ( not quite sure where to set target and get a bit gaunt much under 9 stone)

ShiftyFades · 30/08/2013 07:10

Well done Higgle Grin

Fairygen · 30/08/2013 07:33

Woo hoo! Eventually got my stone award, after 9 weeks! I surprisingly lost 2 lbs. I'm definitely motivated now, and want to lose a pound a week until Christmas. I really can't wait until I start to notice the difference in my clothes.

Well done higgle

trinitybleu · 30/08/2013 08:32

On my way to work. Nervous about weighing in - what if I've not lost anything?

Heard yesterday that I have the opportunity to go to Istanbul for 4 days with work in early October ... what does one wear in Instanbul?? Probably not jeans and a tent Sad

muminthecity · 30/08/2013 15:57

Hello again everyone, I've just got back from a week away and I'm too scared to weigh myself! I've eaten tonnes and tonnes of fat and sugar filled crap so I'm sure I've put on loads. WI is on Tuesday so I'm going to have to be extra good all weekend and will go to the gym a few times as well which will hopefully reduce the amount of damage I've done!

trinitybleu · 30/08/2013 16:10

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

1st 4lbs down!!!!!!!!!
