  • I wish.

Morning all,

Hope you find this!

for your rough night Amber.

After a few good ones, we had a crap one too. Up at 1.30, 3, 4.30, 5.30, 6.15........
I think she was a bit overtired last night. Hope we can get her napping better today .

So how were all your nights?

I know tibs. just goes to show they do everything when they are ready!

Meg 3-7 was a decent stretch
for your sore mouth.

Amberjee · 28/09/2007 10:01

hello tibs, meg, tam

for your fillings meg,i hate dental work.

i've expresed a bottle of milk for LO and I'm going to try and give it to him in the middle of the day. At the moment he is having 3 feeds in the day and 2 at night, and I'm thinking that ratio is a bit whacked (for me anyway).
He will pretty much only feed as he's going to sleep, so now we're down to 2 naps a day, that's all the opportunities we get. other times he just really resists the boob. and god help us if we're out of the house, he probably won't feed at all.
anyway, this is probably a stupid experiment. but i'm goig to try to aim for 4 feeds a day (one by bottle if he'll take it) and see what happens at night. if it makes no difference in a few days, i'll cut it out.

Tamdin · 28/09/2007 10:12

sounds like a plan amber

friend had her homebirth at 3.30 this morning
little boy. (she has 2 dd already)

Amberjee · 28/09/2007 10:39

yay for your friend's homebirth. it all went smoothly i take it?

gingerninja · 28/09/2007 14:00

OMG

I watched that programme last night. I'm still thinking about it today. Surely it's child abuse. I was shouting at the TV and getting really cross. Don't those families realise they will regret not cuddling their babies? They're seriously risking bonding issues if you ask me. I wouldn't be suprised if those women end up with PND

MegBusset · 28/09/2007 14:14

Ginger, I complained to C4 and Ofcom about that programme. Never mind the poor babies involved, I bet there are loads of vulnerable pregnant women or new mums who would be convinced that they have to follow such strict rules.

Hope everyone else is well... LO just woken from nap so gotta dash!

Tamdin · 28/09/2007 14:55

sorry amber yes homebirth went very smoothly. No pain relief and he was 8lb12!
She is absolutely thrilled with the whole experience. makes me quite broody!

Ginger that programme made me so and that i couldn't watch it all. Like meg said all i could think about was all those new mums glued to the tv thinking that what cv said was right. she is a total nut case imo
have also complained to c4 and ofcom

Amberjee · 28/09/2007 16:09

yeah i felt so sad for the mums listening to this so called 'expert'. as if you can't make eye contact with your baby. i'm surprised the program took such an extreme approach, surely they could have done a gina ford kind of thing and while i wouldn't have agreed with that either, it wouldn't have involved putting them in the garden all day and ignoring them (or would it?) not that i've read her book.

Amberjee · 28/09/2007 16:10

tam, glad the homebirth was such a good experience, makes me happy to hear it.

Amberjee · 28/09/2007 16:11

i went to bet this afternoon to try to sleep off my cold a bit. i crossed my fingers LO would do more than an hour, and he's done two. and still going. yay.

Tamdin · 28/09/2007 17:31

yay for your ds's long nap makes all the difference

Amberjee · 28/09/2007 20:14

yeah, feel so much better. feeling cosy tonight with a red wine and baguette + yummy cheese, ds in bed, dh in lisbon, i'm going to check out some rubbish tv. .

Tamdin · 28/09/2007 20:27

ds in bed too but he's not well
seemed very flat today so dh took him tp doc and she said his tonsils are still very infected. he's now on his 2nd (stronger) course of antibiotics and calpol every 4 hours. He's got a tem too
the awful thing is we're off to dublin in the morning for my 30th and ds is staying with my parents. I know will be the perfect nurse but hate the thought of leaving him like this

Tamdin · 28/09/2007 20:28

that should have been he has a temp

and my mum will be the perfect nurse

MegBusset · 28/09/2007 20:43

How about this place for Xmas meet-up? Not sure how easy it would be for everyone to get too...

MegBusset · 28/09/2007 20:44

Oops x-posted Tam. has he got proper tonsilitis? I had it recurrently as a nipper and it's no fun.

MegBusset · 28/09/2007 20:46

Oh but happy birthday and have a fabulous time in Dublin. I'm sure your DS will be fine with his gran looking after him!

Tamdin · 29/09/2007 08:30

morning all.

ds very good last night considering he had atemp most of the night.
got into bed beside him at 9 and he woke at 3 for a drink of water and then 7.15 for the day

Amberjee · 29/09/2007 09:06

wow tam, doing so well on the no milk thing.
last night is a bit of a blur. ds seemed to wake a lot but put himself back. i think i only fed him at 3 and 6.30 when he got up. i feel ok today despite going to bed at 11 (late for me), so the night couldn't have been bad at all.
i'm enjoying it being just ds and me, is that strange? normally i'm longing for dh to come and take his turn, but this is kind of nice, us just hanging out. had dinner together which i don't normally do as i wait for dh to get home. and then we had a bath together. maybe it's because i just put all my attention on him for a bit and wasn't rushing to put him to bed and get down to dh. there is also something about having a little boy i think. it's such a nice relationship, even when they are just 9 months though, i do hope next time for a girl!
hope there were some more good nights.

Amberjee · 29/09/2007 09:06

and happy birthday tam, is it today?

Tamdin · 29/09/2007 09:24

birthday tomorrow
think ds has gone off his milk in the night because it hurts too much to swallow
it hadn't occurred to me until the doc said his throat is so swollen she's surprised he's been eating etc
maybe in a weird way it will have weaned him off. fingers crossed

amber not weird at all that you're enjoying time with ds on your own. I'm the same. THink as you said it's because you can relax and you know you only have to think about the 2 of you

Amberjee · 29/09/2007 09:32

also i had a long nap yesterday afternoon, when i normally might have used it to prepare dinner for dh and i. think i should do that more often. but i do like to eat well. oh, there are not enough hours in the day!
hope you have a fab birthday tam. i wonder if the no milk will stick. i reckon it's a good platform to go from, it seemed like you were heading in that direction anyway.
it reminds me of when i gave up coffee a few times. i'd get sick and hate the taste so not drink it while i was ill. then it was easier not to go back to it after that, rather than just giving up at any ol' time! silly analogy i know.

Tamdin · 29/09/2007 09:40

thinking about/shopping for and preparing dinner every day is such a chore. that's exactly why when dh is away it's easier for me and ds too. i love salads and could eat them any time day or night and ds is easy as he loves pasta etc so i can knock dinner up for us in a matter of minutes when dh is away!

MegBusset · 29/09/2007 11:29

Morning (only just!). Tam hope you enjoy your trip and have a lovely birthday. 30 is the coolest age to be

Amber hope you are having fun with your LO.

We had a dreadful night (up at least every 90 mins), seem to be going through a bad few days, though can't pin down just why he is being so hard to settle. Let's hope it's a phase that passes soon...

Still, at least he has had a good long morning nap so have been able to relax with the paper

MegBusset · 29/09/2007 19:31

Quiet today... hope you are all enjoying a big glass of wine as your LOs are tucked up in bed

DS has his first cold -- not suffering too much but very snotty of nose. I feel a bit crook too so suspect I may wake up with it tomorrow. Have dosed up with Medised, so here's hoping for an OK night.
