New thread for night (and daytime!) chatter for those awake more than they'd like with a non sleeping baby/child 😊

My DS is six months. First baby likely to be only baby if I don't start getting more sleep! He is a nap and sleep fighter but incredibly cute so I choose to forgive him 😂

Another one with a sick DC. Poor DS is very hot and very unsettled. Not much sleep happening. He doesn't even want to feed so that's worrying. Going to try and get some calpol in (he hates it so always a challenge).

How's your DD @frozen?

Sakura03 · 10/03/2018 03:36

Thank you AMagdalena, much appreciated. I saw another doctor today, unfortunately my own doctor is off sick at the moment, so have to just go with who we’re given, initially the receptionist gave me an appointment with the doctor we saw last time who told me bright red blood in ds’ nappy was from me, so I told her I wanted someone else. Anyway this doctor saw us for no more than 5 minutes (it felt like 2 minutes), she saw the photo of the nappy and she thought it would be from an internal tear, she thought a change in his poo was normal (today they’ve been green and no slime or foam) and didn’t think that dairy could be the culprit. Said to monitor and if the blood becomes a regular thing then to come back and they will refer us on. On the door out she finally acknowledged ds in the pram and said ‘oh hallo”. So... she could obviously be right but?? I’ve decided to cut dairy out for two weeks to see if it make a difference. My brother said that their son didn’t tolerate certain vitamin d drops and we’ve just started giving ds some new ones, anyone had issues with vitamin d drops?
Ds has started to do a proper laugh it sounds so sweet. He was a bit overtired tonight and was difficult to feed so took him into the bedroom and laid down on the bed to feed, 10 minutes later and we were both asleep. Briefly woke at 11pm when dp came to bed and transferred him too his carrycot, then slept 3 hours and has now just fallen asleep again so off to bed we go. Hope you all get some sleep.

Sakura03 · 10/03/2018 05:26

We’re up again after 1 1/2 hrs sleep.
How is your dd Frozen?

FrozenMargarita17 · 10/03/2018 07:05

Oh goodness worst night ever. I can't really blame her because she's poorly. Her temp went right down in the middle of the night but at 2am she was wide awake and would not stay still in the bed. She's woken with temp of 39 so will start calpol/ibuprofen again. I get the night off tonight and Dh is having her the whole night. I have earplugs ready.

UtterlyConfused111 · 10/03/2018 08:20

How is the baby @frozen?
Glad DH had given you the night off
How did the calpol go @whoate? Thankfully both mine love the taste otherwise I don’t know how I would have gotten it into them.,.

FrozenMargarita17 · 10/03/2018 09:37

@UtterlyConfused111 she woke up with temp of 39 but it has gone down now with calpol/light clothes. I've got to go out for lunch today for someone's birthday and I really don't want to go!

AMagdalena · 10/03/2018 14:21

@Sakura It could be an anal fissure, yes, but my understanding is it shouldn't happen regularly. Hope it's a one-off for you.
I am not even convinced my DD is allergic to anything in particular, but our gastroenterologist seems to think she reacts to something in my breastmilk causing colitis, hence the blood and mucous. He's world renowned, so difficult to argue, but I am not forcing DD to take formula as he recommended.
I am feeling quite fed up with the situation today, if I am honest. Weaning is on hold again for a few days, I can't really enjoy going out as there is hardly anything I can eat or drink safely.
Reintroduction of allergens at the next appointment isn't looking likely, so I hope I have enough willpower in me to continue to bf until DD is 1. 4,5 months to go!

DD woke up at 5.15am today with DH, so I brought her into my bed for the last stretch and we slept till 8.30am. I really can't believe how much her sleep has improved (naps are still crap, though).

@Frozen Hope your DD gets better quickly. I am such a worrier and would probably have a meltdown if my DD had such high temperature 😔

Btw, there seems to be more male sleep thieves on the thread. Am I right? Who has a DD?

UtterlyConfused111 · 10/03/2018 15:28

I have a DD sleep thief.. although having said that last night she slept from 7pm to 7am (dream feed at 11) without needing to be picked up or cuddled once! She did however drop her dummy 60000 times.... (well 5 or 6 times between 1am and 6am).

DiscombobulatedWomble · 10/03/2018 18:32

Our DD is a sleep thief.. with crap naps today as well. Not looking good for tonight :(

Good luck everyone x

lizzlebizzle33 · 10/03/2018 19:16

Oh sorry for the poorly babies, I hope they're all better soon and you get to the bottom of what's wrong.

Ds2 is on day 3 of no poop today (his record is 12 so I'm not too worried yet) he's proper squirmy and his trumps smell like the end of the world 🙈

We've been out today so his naps have been all over the place, he's just fallen asleep on me now, God knows what that means for tonight.

@AMagdalena stay strong, I'm sure you have it in you to keep going, but if you can't don't feel bad! You need to be happy too, if BF causes a lot of stress nobody will judge you for giving formula. Some bad days I wonder if I can go on but then we have a good day and I remember how nice it can be, and those extra special cuddles that are just for you.

So Mother's Day tomorrow, I hope all the AH DH' treat us extra nice for the day!! After all we grew little people inside us!

Good luck everyone for tonight.
Ah Saturday night, remember when that meant drinking blue wkd while doing your hair and then down to the pub in the freezing cold with no coat because you don't want to be lumbered with it on the dance floor?!

FrozenMargarita17 · 10/03/2018 19:38

Poor little bub has been really sad today but she smiled at the end. She really had awful sobbing sessions where she cried properly. It's my night off tonight so I get to sleep!! Yaaaaayy.

lizzlebizzle33 · 10/03/2018 19:43

Oh a night off! Wow that sounds incredible. I hope you get some good rest. Mx

FrozenMargarita17 · 10/03/2018 20:18

It's part of my Mother's Day present... ha

MummyCuddlesSolveEverything · 10/03/2018 22:00

Enjoy your night off! Make the most of the sleep.

Had 1 wake up so far. My ds has started rolling on to his front in his sleep, every time I move him back he rolls again. He seems to like sleeping on his front (like me!) but o worry something bad will happen of I let him. Any tips?

UtterlyConfused111 · 10/03/2018 22:10

Happy Mother’s Day everyone !

lizzlebizzle33 · 10/03/2018 22:17

@UtterlyConfused111 I was worried too when ds1 started to roll on his tummy, but I kept waking him putting him back on his back so I gave up in the end and he ultimately slept better, the old bum in the air thing they like to do is his favourite.
Must be really comfy.

No tips really, I just had to make my peace with it and try not to worry.x

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 10/03/2018 22:27

Hey all!

Frozen glad your DD seems a bit better and you have a night off, so jealous! DH did offer but it's just not possible with me bf and DS bottle refusing. He says he's going to give me as much as the day off tonorrow as is possible tho. Bring it on!

DS seems much better in himself. Temp was down this morning, he did two big poos and was sick, then seemed back to normal. So maybe just a one off?

Had a lovely day. A mum friend who moved away came to visit with her family, so we all met for a playdate and then a pub meal. DH offered to drive so I had two drinks - and felt very giggly! No more than that because of bf but must say I very much enjoyed them. Then managed to get DS and DD down to bed so me and DH actually had time together! Am late to bed but don't care because it was so worth it (note to DS: please do not make me eat my words later on!)

Good luck all?! Surely the babies must want to treat their mummies to sleep?

Oh and my sleep thief is male...but DD was also a sleep thief!

FrozenMargarita17 · 10/03/2018 23:00

Thought she was better but she's just woken up shivering and high temp again. This is awful :(

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 11/03/2018 03:00

Oh no @frozen how is she now?

DS and DD are tag teaming to make sure I don't get a wink of sleep on Mother's Day. They've obvs paid DH off as he's fast asleep. So. Tangry.

UtterlyConfused111 · 11/03/2018 03:49

Anyone else awake?
She’s been awake since 215. Why?! AH did the dream feed at 1030 for my Mother’s Day gift and now will sleep in tomorrow till 10am, I have to be up again at 6 for dd1....
Gah

Jellybean2017 · 11/03/2018 05:03

We are up for second feed, hoping he will go back down for an hour or so more!

Happy mothers day all Flowers

Hope the poorly babies are soon better. DS has had a cold and cough this week so have been dosing him up on Calpol. He only napped for a total of 90 mins yesterday, so the naps are still an issue. But nighttimes have been generally good for the last week or so. Usually two or three feeds but goes down into cot asleep. However I hear there is an 8 month regression to look forward to next month 🙈🙈🙈

Happy mother's day! I won't get a rest tomorrow, we are quite busy so probably won't have time. I know I've got s card and some daffodils though which is all I wanted a part from sleep.

After a good night last night, tonight is terrible. On 4th wake up and at 2 he was awake for 45minutes.

lizzle I have started leaving him because he always ends up like that, he seems to be able to cope with it and always has his mouth and nose clear.

utterly I thought ah was doing the dream feed and the morning one. Are you ff or does bf with a baby that will take a bottle? Ds is bf and won't take a bottle so I'm the one that gets up because he usually wants feeding and ah is lazy but it wouldn't even cross his mind to take ds downstairs in the morning to play while I catch up on sleep. If you're bottle feeding I don't see why you should be doing all the feeds.

k567 · 11/03/2018 05:49

Happy Mother's Day my arse. Had half an hour total sleep. He is 7 months old. Can sleep through the night but won't. He used to roll on his tummy and get comfy but now he is trying to crawl this has stopped and his new thing is to scream every time he touches his cot. I don't understand why my partner chooses to stay up and watch films when he could be sleeping. All I ever want to do is sleep but even when I get the opportunity I just lay there buzzing with silly thoughts going round and round. My skin is shite; my psoriasis is angry and I get hives all over my arms and back every evening when I realise it's nearly bed time. I don't know how I'm surviving.

FrozenMargarita17 · 11/03/2018 07:57

@k567 I absolutely sympathise. The amount of times I have been ill because I am not sleeping and not able to rest and recover properly is stupid. My husband also stays up to stupid o'clock and then says he's tired the next day.

And he says I'm not happy all the time any more Grin

FrozenMargarita17 · 11/03/2018 07:57

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs I have just got up so I'm about to check on her. Dh had her all night so I could get a bit of sleep as part of my MD present. I can't hear anything so I assume she's fine!!
