New thread for night (and daytime!) chatter for those awake more than they'd like with a non sleeping baby/child 😊

My DS is six months. First baby likely to be only baby if I don't start getting more sleep! He is a nap and sleep fighter but incredibly cute so I choose to forgive him 😂

@jellybean
Thank you for the new thread - and you’re an amazing mum. Don’t think that!
@whoateallthepercypigs
Yup, my gums but generally overall health. I found bf and lack of sleep and tiredness means I have no immune system. I get every cold, and get so sick.
Dd1 is still poorly; for the last week she’s been refusing to eat, on the weekend she was vomiting and she’s been having strange poos. I don’t know what’s going on. I thought it was a bug but no one else has gotten it, then thought it was teething but it’s been going on too long, she is losing weight and her tummy is swollen. Going to doctor tomorrow... she’s just refusing all food...

whoateallthepercypigs snap! I have to use one of those pipe cleaner brushes.but because I'm always rushing up to bed as DS2 wakes I rarely get to do it. I also developed a habit of grinding my teeth with DS1, and have started again with the disturbed sleep with DS2, I lost my mouth guard on the way back from holiday and it's really bad so have to go and get another one fitted.

Utterlyconfused that is very worrying for you,I hope the Dr can help tomorrow.

No sleep for me here, DS2 can only sleep propped up on me due to his cold, I have the cold and the stingy eyes. I actually have no idea what I'll do if DS1 wakes.

Thanks everyone 😊
I'm up for feed 2, he's just done a 4 hour stretch. I'm sitting on a bean bag in the dark in his room with the white noise playing. DH barely stirred when I got up haha. We are going to get a proper chair to go in baby's room at the new house as sometimes I sink so far into the bean bag I struggle to get back up 🙈 my knees aren't what they used to be ha!

@utterlyconfused I hope Dr can help and DD is better soon. And @cats hope your DS recovers from the cold quickly.

I'm on our forth Wake up. my throat is feeling awful and I'm struggling to stay awake. I'm not enjoying this night looking forward to it being a proper time to get up

I am on wake up nr 1 (barr the 2 initial wake-ups before I went to bed).DH woke DD up, but her nappy was pretty soiled, too.
Feel human again. Hope it continues for a little longer.

@Meepmoop your night sounds like mine, no idea how many wake ups (lots) some feeds, some just a cuddle.
And I have the most horrible sore throat, I actually took paracetamol it's that bad and I hate taking pain killers.

DH got up for work and has woke ds1 up so even though ds2 is happily snoozing in my bed now I need to get up.

Sigh.

Same old shit after the 3am feed.

I fell asleep around 5 and he woke me up at 5.30, 5.55, 6.20 and 6.50.

Why can't he do what he used to do and sleep for 2-3 hours after that feed??

Jellybean2017 · 22/02/2018 09:10

DS slept 2am to 6.30am in his room 🎉 he took 15 mins to go back to sleep after 130am feed. However DH and I kept waking up to check video monitor 🙈

Can I join? My DS (4 months) has gone from waking twice in the night for a feed to be being up 6 times last night. I can't settle him without feeding (breastfed). My DD was a terrible sleeper but it all seemed to be going so much better with DS. Damn the 4 month regression!

Report
lizzlebizzle33 · 22/02/2018 12:44

Would I be wrong in thinking that because my Ds is up all night already, the 4 month sleep regression won't make any difference? Or is it going to get even worse? 😩😩😩😩

@Jellybean2017 that's great well done to your little one and you. It's weird seeing them on the monitor isn't it.

@lizzlebizzle33 I'm sure it'll be fine, some magic babies don't go through it so you might not notice.

Welcome @Fluteytootey

On wake up 1 after only 30mins. It's not looking very good for me tonight.

Hopefully it's looking better for everyone else.

Haha lizzlebizzle crapballs is exactly what I was thinking when DS1 came in at 5.30 and woke the finally sleeping DS2. What a night it was, I am keeping everything crossed tonight is better.

Hi fluteytooty waves it's dreadful when it starts out promising and goes to pot.

Both boys were down by 7.30 so I came down for a glass of wine, will be heading up to bed in a minute. I am going riding early tomorrow morning so really hope tonight is better, I'm not sure how I have even functioned today - I even braved soft play where a child was sick in the ball pit Envy (not envy)

@utterlyconfused did you get any answers about your DD?

So here we go again. Am hopeful of a good night as tomorrow morning I'll be hosting a playdate with four toddlers and a baby, then making lunch for another friend and her kids!

@lizzlebizzle
What a cutie!

@whoateallthepercypigs
Yup! Doctor said it’s viral gastroenteritis (and that teething doesn’t cause vomiting etc), and that she will just take time to recover. He reckons her digestive tract is irritated and so she doesn’t want to eat so give it time. She’s lost weight though so I find that really hard - she’s pretty skinny already. But he said her tummy was all clear, and he listened to it etc and he seemed very relaxed so it’s all good :-)
For DD2 he said - she’s going to get it probably but just keep feeding her and it’ll get better. She’s been so tired this whole day and rejecting her feeds today so I think she has the bug...her feeds arent at the regular times and it’s been all over the place but she’s still feeding so fingers crossed she doesn’t get too ill

UtterlyConfused111 · 22/02/2018 21:56

DD2 slept really well last night - but because she was ill I was just worried about her the whole night and didn’t sleep!
Here’s hoping for a good night for everyone :-)

We're on feed 3 wake up 5. Very stingy eyes here

Report

We’re on wake 3. 2 of which have been me waking him for post injection calpol doses. Wish I’d had an earlier apt. Last set until he’s 1 though so that’s good. Having to wake a fast asleep baby doesn’t sit well with me. He usually wakes every 1.5hrs but not tonight. Has gone 3 each time I however have hardly slept waiting for the alarm to go off!! Hoping he’ll settle again and I can sleep for this last part of the night.
This group keeps me sane - glad I stumbled across it.
