New thread for night (and daytime!) chatter for those awake more than they'd like with a non sleeping baby/child 😊

My DS is five months. First baby likely to be only baby if I don't start getting more sleep He is a nap and sleep fighter but incredibly cute so I choose to forgive him 😂

We are on feed number 1. DS slept from 7ish until 8ish. He woke and DH went in to resettle; DS was then back asleep within 15 mins until about 9.20. He's falling asleep on the boob atm. Good luck everyone 😊 x

On wake 2 feed 1. DH tried to settle him but DS wasn't having it so have resorted to feeding. It worked. I could really do with a long stretch of sleep tonight. Think I'm being hopeful though.

Meepmoop · 19/02/2018 22:57

Wake up 3, not sure if 10 minutes counts as a sleep though

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 20/02/2018 00:09

Well despite being in dire need of sleep, I'm still awake. My stupid brain just won't switch off. DS woke just now for first feed so it's been a short stretch for him. I feel a horrible combo of jittery and exhausted. Not even had much caffeine today!

Got things planned tomorrow too so I really need sleep. Fed up.

Catscatsandmorecats · 20/02/2018 00:38

I'm joining you in the fed up camp whoateallthepercypigs. We came back from the ILs this evening and our house is a sauna compared to theirs which we found too cold fucking freezing- DS2, however slept much better in a folder environment all wrapped up, only three feeds the whole night with good stretches between. Tonight we are on feed three already, then when I had cooled him off, fed him and was winding him I realised he'd had a nappy leak so have had to do a full change which totally woke him up. Now in cooler clothes and fro bag but I can't resettle him so am giving him the other boob now in the hope I can feed him back to sleep.

I'm utterly fed up because DS1 slept badly whilst we were there (he was cold) so I was really hoping for a better night now we're home. I am really tired. And we've still got half the night to go with both of them :(

Catscatsandmorecats · 20/02/2018 00:48

Forgot to say user so pleased to hear from you that you have made some progress and are getting a bit more sleep. I hope your DH feels better soon and the time off helps.

Still can't get DS2 back to sleep so I've put him in his crib and left him to his own devices. He seems intent on lying on his side at the moment. I don't care so long as he's calm!

Jellybean2017 · 20/02/2018 01:46

Feed number two done and just waiting for DS to resettle and go back to sleep. Fingers crossed...

Pretty crappy night here, ds2 did well in his cot until about 2am, I think we've been up every 45 mins since then. He had a really bad coughing fit about an hour ago and in struggling to settle him back down.

This cough is awful, poor thing is nearly sick every time. It's so scary. Ds1 was never I'll as s little baby so it's my first time dealing with this.

So he's in my bed now but we're getting no sleep he's all squirmy and still coughing.

DH is up for work soon and that will probably wake ds1 up too. I might as well get up now really.

It's been quiet here I hope that means you're all asleep.x

Meepmoop · 20/02/2018 06:59

@lizzlebizzle33 it's scary when they have a bad cough. DS had one awhile ago and he was projectile being sick from it. Went to the doctors but they wouldn't do anything.

After an awful start to the night DS did 4hours and then 3 so feeling okay this morning. He's awake in his cot messing about so I'll get up in a minute

AMagdalena · 20/02/2018 07:39

So after an unsettled first hour, DD only woke up at 4am and now is up for the day. Nearly 5 hrs in the cot, too.
I feel alive.

UtterlyConfused111 · 20/02/2018 07:53

@amagdelena
Feel exactly the same! She did 4.5 hours straight stretch today; it’s amazing what a difference that makes. And half term is over; hoping dd1 settles back nicely into preschool after a week off....

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 20/02/2018 08:04

Seems like there's been some good sleepers on here, well done babies!

Things got a bit better, DS slept in his cot till 3 and then in with me. DH is working from home so took him at 6 to give me a bit more sleep. So not as bad as I'd feared. Still crazy tired though, stinging eyes etc!

Glad you all got some rest, I did until 2 am, just glad I went to bed at 8 or I would be absolutely shattered now.
Oh well not much to do today, at least it's nice out, I think I'll take them to the park ( it's not half term anymore right?)

Have a good day people, hope I our littles do some good napping for you.xx

Catscatsandmorecats · 20/02/2018 09:50

Our night got better with DS2 once he'd cooled down and finally gone back to sleep but then DS1 came in and woke us all up at 5.15 and that was that. I have the stingy eyes today

NinaMarieP · 20/02/2018 10:18

We've had 2x evenings of hysterical screaming out of three here.

Think it has been down to crap naps but if he keeps waking after just 25 minutes there's not a lot I can do about it!!

Screamed from 5-5.30 fell asleep for like one minute then screamed again until about 8 when I managed to feed him to sleep in my bed... so then that was me stuck there with him for the rest of the evening.

He also wanted fed at 11 (he'd only had one side at 8), 3.30 and 7... and I seemed to wake every fucking half hour all night even when I swapped to the spare room between 4&7.

UtterlyConfused111 · 20/02/2018 20:08

@ninamarie
That sounds tough. Hang in there. What do you think it is?
We had a similarly screamy night a couple of nights. She was trying to sleep but screaming. I don’t know what was bothering her! Teeth, gas? Anyway here’s hoping for a better night tonight

Meepmoop · 20/02/2018 20:41

DS is having an epic feed currently at 50 minutes. Looks like his first tooth is on its way there's a little slit in his bottom gum.

Hope tonight is a good one for everyone

lizzlebizzle33 · 20/02/2018 20:57

Ds2 still thinks it's fun time rather than bed time, trying to feed him to sleep and he's staring at me and keeps stopping to giggle. Trying not to laugh but it's too cute 😍

@Meepmoop how old is your Ds? I can't remember when ds1 got his first teeth, dreading it with ds2 though. It can't be far off.

Ds1 did his first walk out to the shops with no pram today, really proud of him, he held hands the whole time.

Good luck tonight people 😴😴💤☘☘👶🏼

Meepmoop · 20/02/2018 21:24

@lizzlebizzle33 he's 7 months this week. Absolutely no idea where that time went!
Well done to your DS1, bet your really chuffed he'll be running around in no time. Hope DS2 has gone sleep for you.

lizzlebizzle33 · 20/02/2018 21:54

He's in bed now, he finally gave in. We have already had 2 coughing fits though and I had to settle him again, when will this bloody cough go?

The tiny baby stage just goes by too fast doesn't it, ds2 is almost 4 months and it feels like yesterday we brought him home. He was such a big baby though I feel like we missed a bit of him being tiny.

He's big enough for the jumperoo now so my life just got easier 😂

NinaMarieP · 20/02/2018 22:33

@UtterlyConfused111 it's happened on two days where he was awake for 3-3.5 hours between naps and then only did 20-25 minutes after that. I'm assuming he was overtired... so we have resolved to work on the naps but it's hard to force him to sleep at the 'right' times.

Tonight was marvellous in that he was chilled out through his tea, fed and went to sleep. He has since pumped and woken up screaming twice and I'm feeding him back to sleep for the second time instead of having an early night...

Lallypopstick · 20/02/2018 22:34

We need a new thread ASAP!
