New thread for night (and daytime!) chatter for those awake more than they'd like with a non sleeping baby/child 😊

My DS is five months. First baby likely to be only baby if I don't start getting more sleep He is a nap and sleep fighter but incredibly cute so I choose to forgive him 😂

Haven't been able to post much, not due to being asleep but due to DS deciding he needs absolute darkness to fall asleep. Which would be fine if I didn't have to sit in darkness from 6.30pm 🙈

He is just drifting back off now. Changed nappy at 2 and about five mins later he did a massive poo. So had to change him and his sleepsuit too 😒 then he was wide awake again. Hoping for a few more hours!! Hope you're all faring better!!

NinamarieP we are there with you and you described it perfectly. Poor little ones that feel so grotty to have to want us all to know by telling us so loudly.

Thanks for the well wishes for Mum, she's ok but definitely will be out of action for a while sports wise.

Despite colds, injuries and a traumatic ski school drop off we are having fun. It is absolutely beautiful, the sunshine is doing us all good and there is a lot to do. Bfing on the piste was just lovely, it was warm enough I only had a t-shirt on under my ski jacket which was open anyway - the only cold bit was DS2's lips! Holidays withJust, and family are going to have their ups and downs just like home but I'm determined to make it fun for the kids and enjoyable for all of us.

Thankfully only on wake up three here, DS2 has relaxed and slept a but better after the enormous meltdown at bedtime.

Dh brought ds up to me at the usual time of 12:30. He woke me from a deep dreaming state and I was all a bit confused. After a wee I got my head back in the game and fed ds until about 1am.
He woke at 2:20 and I thought 'no, you have to do better than that' and ignored his flaying his arms and legs about and his tiny whimpers hoping we'd both fall back asleep, which we did. He did it again a little while later but fell asleep again. He just woke at 4:20 and my boob was leaking so I gave in and fed him as he needed a nappy change anyway.

So I wonder if I'm my own worst enemy and if he were in his own room he'd settle for longer stretches. Maybe I wake him up for feeds when he doesn't need it? Hmmmm. Time to order that mattress, me thinks!

Meepmoop · 30/01/2018 05:52

5th wake up here and I can't get DS back in his cot. I don't want to be awake for the day now

Copperbeaches · 30/01/2018 07:03

Any one else find it hard to fall back asleep after you feed even if they manage to!!
LO went almost back to sleep twice tonight after a feed and I'm wide awake for another hour!! Doesnt help that he will wake up again not long after I finally sleep!!!

UtterlyConfused111 · 30/01/2018 07:46

@ninamariep and @zampa
I too am inflicted with the cold that doesn’t clear up.... it’s just been streaming noses and coughs forever. It really feels like it won’t go away! The little one is struggling as she is congested
And I’ve lost my voice :-)
But
She slept till 430am today, woke up ravenous, finished her bottle in seconds she was so hungry and vomited it up immediately as she drank it so fast. Then she woke up and the day began but I had such a good long stretch that I feel refreshed inspite of the sore throat :-)

Meepmoop · 30/01/2018 08:19

My DS appears to have reached the separation anxiety stage if I leave him alone he screams.. it's going to make the days so much longer

xxrealistmumxx · 30/01/2018 09:35

Morning. Out pacing the streets with LO in the sling. We're meant to be at playgroup but he hasn't had his usual half hour cat nap this morning so I've tried to head off an overtired meltdown by getting him to have a quick nap now!

Crappy night unfortunately. Only one feed at 2am though and morning feed at 630am which is amazing by recent standards. Maybe the weaning to thanks? We've started with baby rice, moving on to purée next week and I'll introduce finger foods in a few weeks so doing a mix of spoonfeeding and baby led.

Sadly even though we only had one night feed LO woke multiple times, every hour or less, needing reselling in one way or another. I'm also wondering if I pounce too soon and maybe he might be able to settle himself? Though I did wait over half an hour for him to settle at 1 am and 4am..... How long does everyone else wait before intervening??

Hope you all have a good day Flowers

xxrealistmumxx · 30/01/2018 11:03

Ha ha, that should've said resettling not reselling! Though that's how I feel in the night sometimes ;)

meepmoop similar story here. LO insisting on me getting him around, sitting with him. Looonngg days indeed!

AMagdalena · 30/01/2018 14:02

Last night wasn't the best, but TMI we've had 3 textbook bf poos in a row. I hadn't seen seeds for a long time. Fx it'll continue.

Zampa · 30/01/2018 17:07

@AMagdalena Great news!

Meepmoop · 30/01/2018 17:21

@AMagdalena that's great news, I hope it continues for you

NinaMarieP · 30/01/2018 17:58

Great stuff AM. We've never had seeds though!

AMagdalena · 30/01/2018 18:47

Thanks, ladies!
*@Nina@ I don't it needs to be seedy/curdy, but it can resemble scrambled egg in a way.
DD has had some pretty horrible stools, so any change from that is welcome.
Hopefully things will continue to improve and I can bf till she's one at least.

Hoping for a decent night, so we can head into town to get DD a coat.

actino · 30/01/2018 20:27

AMag, great news about the poos!

I met up with a friend and her 6 month old today and learned about all the drool that comes before teeth, it was quite a lot!

Meepmoop · 30/01/2018 20:48

Baby is asleep and I'm not, so frustrating. My mind seems to be reliving his birth not sure why, feels like it never really happened and he just appeared.

Words I never thought I'd type but congratulations on the poo @AMagdalena Grin that's very encouraging- the crazy diet must be paying off so big well done to you. PS did you know Ben and Jerry have introduced a new vegan ice cream? Meant to be very nice!

Just settling in for bed with DS asleep on me. Having one of those days when I don't feel as tired which is nice.

Went for my post preg smear today. Second attempt as i went a few weeks ago but they wouldn't do it because it was too soon which I should have known but, sleepy brain. So went again - and they couldn't do it because there was blood on the brush so sample would be contaminated. Background to this - I had an abnormal smear in 2012. It was low grade changes, I had treatment for it and my smears have been clear ever since (I'm still on yearly checks, not sure why). It means that I get very anxious when it's time for my smear, especially hate the waiting for results. So obvs this has got my worrying again. Nurse said nothing to worry about, probably just too soon (12 weeks post partum) plus I've started a new pill so could be hormonal. I know that makes sense but still feeling very anxious. Going again in a month's time. Tiredness doesn't help me think rationally about this!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 30/01/2018 21:41

Ha ha @discombobulatedwomble- so bloody true!

DiscombobulatedWomble · 30/01/2018 21:49

@whoate waiting for results is always so hard & it must be so incredibly frustrating to have to do more waiting before even having the test! Flowers to you and fingers crossed for a healthy result

DiscombobulatedWomble · 30/01/2018 22:02

LO had her 8 week jabs on Monday.. it was horrible she screamed her little head off as soon as the first needle went in but once the last one was done I kissed her cheek & she immediately stopped crying and started smiling & gurgling.. the nurse & I were shocked.. just a shame that doesn't seem to work when she's screaming the place down in the evenings Hmm

actino · 30/01/2018 22:38

Yes, the jabs are horrible to watch. Dd gets her 12 week ones next Tuesday.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 30/01/2018 22:42

DS just won't settle tonight. Normally when he goes down at first he sleeps for a few hours...tonight he's woken twice within the last half hour. Really praying this isn't the start of something new but it doesn't bode well for the rest of the night...

Meepmoop · 31/01/2018 01:13

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs hope
DS has now settled for you.

I'm still awake and baby is still sleeping (has woke up for a feed in between) I literally could cry as I just know the minute I fall asleep he will wake up

Catscatsandmorecats · 31/01/2018 02:09

Hooray for good poo amagdalena that must be such a releif and a big reward for all your efforts with your diet.

On feed two here, amazingly DS2 did 4h39 sleep when I first put him down. Back to a 2 hour sleep since the first feed but this is progress. I went to bed not long after him so got over there hours, woo! I've been up for an hour now though because DS1 woke, he was happy for me to come to DS2 to feed when he cried so I'm hoping he's dropped back off by himself while I've been feeding, still have to get up to check after so everything crossed.

We're back to enjoying ourselves, no ski school for DS1 but lots of sledging, skiing and playing in the snow with us and Mum is enjoying relaxing.

xxrealistmumxx I remember pacing the streets with DS1 in the sling, I hope you're getting some rest tonight.

Whoateallthepercypigs I hope DS has settled for you now and you are getting some worry free sleep
