Another thread. My didn't we get full quickly! night sleeping good. Naps...not even 5 mins so far today...

OP posts:
Swizzler · 14/04/2007 14:05

well I won't be leaving anytime soon - DS woke too many times to count last night . Think the teeth are playing up again...

cruisemum1 · 14/04/2007 19:47

swizz - uurgh . poor you and poor lo with teething. i am dreading ds teething. when dd got her first tooth i didn't even know she was teething until i looked in her mouth and saw what i thought was a shard of glass! i suspect ds will be different though...
hope you hvae a better night tonight.
and to all other SIFTW-ers!

cruisemum1 · 15/04/2007 06:50

mornin' all

Amberjee · 15/04/2007 07:32

how did it go cruise? i guess by the smiles, it was all sleep again last night?

Amberjee · 15/04/2007 07:33

anyway, my LO woke up a lot, but each time he had a HUGE feed, so that means i can blame it on growth spurt! but strangely he was so tired this morning, he's gone backt o sleep, though i had to swaddle him to stop him thrashing around and waking himself up. he never wants to sleep this time of the morning - strange

cruisemum1 · 15/04/2007 08:16

amber - no he woke at 9;30 as dh let he door slam shut and it woke him . took 30mins to stettle him. then hewoke at 1:00 a.m. so i bf him. then up at 6:15am. not great but i find it hard too be firm in the early hrs. guess i will have to, esp since i know he can sleep through.

cruisemum1 · 15/04/2007 08:16

AMBER my lo is asleep now too .

Tamdin · 15/04/2007 09:14

mixed night here. don't even really remember it. one bottle in the night but woke up at 5 this morning with ds using my not so ample bosom as i pillow. don't remember him getting in with us

cruisemum1 · 15/04/2007 10:08

tamsin- that's funny!

gingerninja · 15/04/2007 10:32

Hello all. I think last night would have been great had it not been for DH snoring. She went to bed at 7.30 and woke for feeding at 12 (we had a number of brief awakenings before that but the dummy settled her back down) andway, straight into bed with us and settled and sleeping very well but DH out cold on his back doing a great pig impression. Woke me at 1 and then 3. No amount of kicking and poking would move him so one rude awakening and some strong words later he was in the spare room, DD was crying because she was obviously woken up. A bit unsettled but did eventually go back after a feed and one again at 6 ish she didn't wake until 7.30. I'm convinced it would have been a good night if it wasn't for him. Never mind, we're all friends now

Swizzler · 15/04/2007 10:39

yawn - I'm with you today Amber - hourly wakings last night. Growth spurt or teeth? Anyway, ar least he slept till nearly 9 this morning and is now v happy and chirpy...

The good thing is that his naps are still improving 2 good hour long naps yesterday. Hopefuly this will translate into good night-time sleep soon!

Tamdin: how irritating. DH snores as well but usually responds to a sharp jab in the back.

and at those with better nights!

Swizzler · 15/04/2007 10:40

Sorry: ginger's DH is the culprit apols for maligning yours Tamdin

Tamdin · 15/04/2007 11:09

swizz and amber your hourly waking. i think teeth are usually the culprit for those kind of nights in this house.
swizz for the 2 good naps. I do think they translate into better nights so fingers crossed for you.
Ginger for dh disturbing you. friend of mine has 2 dd's and at night dh goes to bed with one and she goes to bed with the other! how they manged to have dd2 is a miracle
cruise although not as good as previous nights you still sound like it's going well

MaeWest · 15/04/2007 11:18

Well, things are (fingers crossed) on a more even keel here. Settled to 2 wakings, approx 11pm and 3.30am, last night he didn't wake at 11, so I had nearly 6 hrs, bliss . Still quite whingy and chompy during the day tho, DS will happily have bf every 2 hrs during the day if there's nothing else going on to distract him, and seems not to be so keen on food at the mo except for his brekkie weetabix.

Amberjee - think your LO is one of the youngest, around 4 months? I found sleep had settled by about 3 monthsish, then went haywire around 4 months due to growth spurt/big development time. He did settle down again, and even slept through a few times by 6 months, just in time to start teething... It will get better, sounds like you're just going with the flow

Amberjee · 15/04/2007 17:25

mae thanks, he is 14 weeks, so a youngun. his sleep has always been terrible. he slept for 5 hours once in his life so far and i was so happy, but he never repeated it. he is more like a 2 hour man at night, and he's only just started to take 30 mins naps sometimes in his cot. before that he only slept in my arms or sling. things are very slowly improving, so yes i hope by 6 months he might sleep through the night at least once, even if its just 5 hours straight once more ...

tibsy · 15/04/2007 19:50

hi all, sorry for those with bad nights and whoo hoo for those with good uns.
i went out last night so dp on bed duty. i did get her to sleep before i went tho. apparently, she woke as i shut the door behind me she took a little bit of milk from a bottle!!! then went back to sleep and was still sparko when i got home at 2.30am!!
think she slept thru til 6.30 then, but i was a bit hazy from serious lack of sleep and one too many wine spritzers!
have been up to her once already tonight but just put my hand on her tum and she dropped back off fingers x'd for a good night for all

Tamdin · 15/04/2007 19:57

how was your night out tibs? was it good to just be you or did you think god i'm really not missing anything? x

cruisemum1 · 15/04/2007 20:02

tibsy - i haven't managed to drum up the courage to actually go out for hte evening. i guess i will have to soon otherwise i can see myself being houseboudn in teh evenigns forever! dh and i have some big functiuns coming up in the summer so i ought to leave ds and dd with someone before that to see how it feels . sounds likethe night was not too bad for you. defo an improvement eh?
mae - sounds good for you too. let's hope lo is turning a corner
ginger/swizz - let's hope you have more sleep tonight. grrr at men who snore! my dh is terrible some nights.
nitey nite all. sweet dreams

tibsy · 15/04/2007 20:16

first part of the night was ok, went to works 7th birthday party. then a couple of us went on to a club, which was full of letchy, vile men had a good time dancing tho and figured i may have burned off a bit of wibbly tum too!! dont think i'm missing too much tam to be honest, if anything, made me appreciate what i've got at home, dp included, even if he is a numpty sometimes
cruise, i was a nightmare the first time i went out. was on pins all evening and texting for reports every half hour was obviously ok last night tho just get a couple of vinos down you and take the plunge. you'll have the added benefit/reassurance of ds sleeping better too. that definitely helps

PavlovtheCat · 15/04/2007 20:30

OK, so, I am not going anywhere. Last two nights not been solid sleep, although I cant complain as its still been better than many of others here.
Night before last
7:30pm - 11:30pm. BF, back to sleep
11:30pm - 2:30am - BF, back to sleep
5am - BF back to sleep
7:00am. Awake for day.
two short naps!

Last night
7:45pm - 10:00pm Asleep.
10pm awakes, DP puts her back to sleep.
6am. Awake for the day.

Oh its not bad at all is it but it was just soooooooo early and I was having a lie-in , which I did, but was awake from 6am - 7:30am first. I cant complain tho as DD brought me in fresh coffee and Croissants
Tonight, she went to sleep immediately after a long walk in the woods with friends and their 4 YO who she loves, and who loves her. Then friends went, and 4 YO yelled his head off, happily, right outside her window and woke her, took a while to settle. Bless him, he thought he was being good by waiting until he was outside!!

Swizzler - use the Oragel (have you tried it yourself yet? you should its got a kick to it! ). if you are not sure if it is teeth or not, you will find out soon enough. Put some on before sleep, whether you think its needed or not and see what happens

cruisemum1 · 16/04/2007 10:01

good night last night. sleep at 7:00pm, woke at 9:15 for 15 mins (had to do a bit off cc but he was not too bad at all) and he slept until 6:40am! the nights are not yet consistent but such a vast improvement on a fortnight ago that i can hardly believe it. hope you are all feeling refreshed today

gingerninja · 16/04/2007 10:10

Another congratulations to you Cruise. We had another crappy night. First part was much better but after 11.30 we were awake on and off all flippin night.

Tamdin · 16/04/2007 10:17

cruise ginger
mine was pretty good/mixed. bed at 7.30 not a peep until 1.30 then up again at 4.30 and up for day at 7. easy to settle when he wakes though(5mins) so can't complain. think he was hungry as downed his milk and went back to sleep. just wish he'd eat more in the day so wouldn't need milk at night

amijee · 16/04/2007 11:04

good luck to anyone going out or the night for the 1st time.

I had my 1st night out in 8 mths on sat - to my neighbour's BBQ! SO not very far!

Ds continues to do well - last night slept 9pm until 6.30am when he comes into our bed and has a feed.

I can't believe he's hte same baby as a few weeks ago - but long may it continue!

tibsy · 16/04/2007 11:47
