maber - ditto the e3arly wakings. ds seems to want to wake around 5:45 am for the day. i don't feel quit the same joie de vivre about that time of the day but not much i can do it seems. I hvae adjusted his bedtime to 8ish (or as near as I can stretch it out) but it makes no difference . Still such an improvement overall that I have to forgive him that little blip!

cruisemum1 · 18/05/2007 14:42

sorry -Amber not maber . typing in a hurry

jabberwocky · 18/05/2007 14:53

ginger - here's hoping your lo continues to improve. Sounds very scary

two bad night in a row here. Has anyone done cc while co-sleeping?

Congrats to everyone having good nights. You've certainly earned it!

cruisemum1 · 19/05/2007 06:45

blimey.... where did everyone go???

Amberjee · 19/05/2007 07:19

goodness its quiet. you're up early cruise . me too, these 6am wakeups. i tried giving LO a dream feed at 9.30pm last night as i felt he didn't eat very much at bedtime. it worked a dream, i didn't know if I could get him to latch on. but then he woke at all the same intervals as usual so didn't make any difference in that respect. oh well.

Nbg · 19/05/2007 07:35

I havent popped in here for ages. Partly down to me being too knackered lol.

Ds has still not been sleeping.
However my friends mum gave me a cd with some very odd plinky plonky music on and for 2 nights he has slept!!!

I cant believe this would have worked but it has.
Just hope it lasts now.
We are still having early wakings but I guess you cant have it all!

Tamdin · 19/05/2007 08:31

NBg what is it...do tell!!!!
hi amber and cruise. ds still not well but sleeping well with medised and in bed with us so i actually got about 9 hours sleep last night

cruisemum1 · 19/05/2007 08:45

tam - 9 hrs effing ell!

Swizzler · 19/05/2007 08:57

9 hrs - that's great

DS improving slowly, going for 2-3 hrs betw feeds rather than 1.5 to 2 and doing the odd 4 hour stretch. Am considering black out blinds as he takes ages to settle at night.

chocolatte · 19/05/2007 08:59

Hi everyone. the saabotage is working well. Since I fed her at 5.30am yesterday she woke at 4.30am today and we're back to crying for an hour. i'm so dim! Dp was sent back in for another shhh pat marathon so fingers crossed that I havent screwed things up too much...

amber - the dream feed thing didnt help my LO any - in fact she woke up more. I couldnt get her to drink much though. All it did was train her to wake up another time. I know it has worked well for lots of people tho.

chocolatte · 19/05/2007 09:01

nbg - we use plinky plonky music too - works great! As soon as she's out of her bath at night the plinky goes on!

Swizzler · 19/05/2007 09:02

What is this magic music? Do tell

VeronicaMars · 19/05/2007 09:07

Hi everyone, I think at this stage I'll need my eyes surgically lifted by 40! DD (17 months) was always a good sleeper until she turned 1. We could get a good three nights out of the seven. She's just over a really bad ear infection which included a tummy bug as well and she was so sick that she just slept with me so I could keep an eye on her. Well, now most days I'm like a zombie! She goes to bed at eight and she might wake once before 12 just for her dummy, sometimes not and she might take a while to settle. It's the waking at 3 or 4 in the morning that's the problem. She's not even awake properly but she is sobbing like she's been crying for hours and there is no settling her at all. Sometimes she won't even settle when I bring her to my bed having been so upset. Does she just not like sleep?? Can someone tell me what naps their lo's have during the day and also has anyone put their 17 month old into their cotbed with a gaurd on the side. It's like she hates her cot.
I was at the hairdresser last week and I slept for most of it, I need help.
What age will she want a lie in??!!

Tamdin · 19/05/2007 09:30

swizzler have though about back out blinds too. was tempted to try the easy blinds advertised on here.
cruise 9 hours was in bed with us and with medi sed so i'm not holding out much hope that it'll continue when he's well again.
Veronica can totally sympathise, my ds is nearly 16 months and has never slept a whole night without waking. the only difference (and i know it's a huge one)is that he's very easy to settle again. He usually wants his dummy or bottle. I can't imagine how much more tired i would be if he took a long time to get back to sleep. as it is he either goes straight back off after milk or with dummy (in his cot beside our bed) or i lift him into bed with me and he goes back to sleep.
This of course all goes to pot when he's teething in which case he thinks it's just great to wake up every 2 hours.
re the bed issue i have a friend who put her dd straight from a cot into a double bed (think though she was nearly 2)and it worked a treat. It also meant if she got up in the night her or dh (dh mostly...he's a saint!) took her back to her own bed and got in with her and both got a good night's sleep. am def stealing this idea for ds when time comes. Is there any way it could be night terrors? i don't know much about them or what age they start but have heard others on here describing similar experinces at this age (?)

VeronicaMars · 19/05/2007 09:38

Thanks Tamdin. It's so hard to function sometimes isn't it? I'm wondering about the teething. She has always been good when it's not to do with sleep. She's cut teeth before and you wouldn't know until you saw it. There is a bit of a nappy rash, more like little spots, at the moment and lots of dribbling. I think maybe her 'eye' teeth are breaking. My mother says they're the worst. The double bed sounds like a good idea.
God when I think back to when i was pregnant, jumping into bed on a Sat afternoon and sleeping till 5 or 6. Bliss...

Tamdin · 19/05/2007 09:44

i know that kind of sleep/life is a distant memory isn't it!
Ds was cutting eye teeth and top molars about 10 days ago and he was crying out in his sleep and standing up in his cot every 2 hours and generally not sleeping at all. It went on for about a week then he got my bloody cold. sounds to me like it is def your dd's teeth. I know it sounds like i work for medised and normally i try to be mrs 'natural' but it really helps ds sleep when he's teething or sick. it might be worth a try (?)

VeronicaMars · 19/05/2007 09:52

Well miss natural here went from Gumeze (100%) natural to baby nurofen as per my doctor who said it's a very different pain to anything else. He also told me that if adults had to go through teething they would know all about it. Medised? I've never even heard of it. In the chemist yeah?

Tamdin · 19/05/2007 10:02

yes it's only available in chemist behind counter. it is for pain relief but also has a mild sedative effect. bottle says 'pain and fever relief' plus' eases breathing and helps restful sleep'. can vouch for all of the above. LOL veronica i started off giving Ds teetha and very soon realised it just wasn't gonna cut it! try to compensate for my drug pusher guilt with lots of healthy food
come back and let me know how tonight goes. i'm a saddo so will be thinking about you if you don't x

VeronicaMars · 19/05/2007 10:08

Thanks Tamdin, I will. Nice to talk to you.

Tamdin · 19/05/2007 10:10
Smile
gingerninja · 19/05/2007 10:13

Just to let you know we're still here, still droopy eyed and not sleeping but I forgive her because she's still poorly. Yesterday back at the Dr because she'd developed an all over body rash. Turns out it's a typical viral rash so nothing to worry about but she's still out of sorts and is crying loads. It's exhausting. I've also had to start feeding her in the night again because she isn't eating and is dehydrated (her nappies aren't very wet). I feel like I've gone back to square one plus some. Hopefully we'll be back to normal soon. Anyway, I've gotta get my CV sorted. Going for a new job!

lilysma · 19/05/2007 10:17

Well, an odd night here. V restless at the beginning of the night and then in to bed with me at 11 and didn't wake for a feed until 3.30 ish (it all gets a bit foggy at that time, doesn't it?!). I had last fed her at 7. Then settled again and slept a bit restlessly until 7! Doesn't sound like much but v good going for us . Of course I was awake expecting her to wake up for a feed any minute and also half listening for dh to come home from his night out on the tile (sort of!) . I'm sure it was a blip but reminds me that longer stretches are possible iyswim

Nbg · 19/05/2007 12:30

Tamdin, It basically sounds like those metal prongs you get on music boxes with a chinese kind of style to it.
It comes from Borneo. I have no idea how my friends mum got it but she said that it worked for her GD and she said give it a shot.

Its worked both nights I've tried it so long may it last.

I'll ask her where she got it.

Tamdin · 19/05/2007 14:41

ginger and dd. what new job?
for lillysma
thanks nbg

cruisemum1 · 19/05/2007 20:29
