ginger-the mess is something else. You've read the BLW threads I'm sure. It's a lot harder when you are more limited. My lo last night had boiled pots, peas and boiled carrot batons. She eats enough finger foods to worry about giving her mush. She also likes to study food in it's whole state before she devours it.It's great to watch, much nicer than spoons going in.We do what we think is right though,I'm not pro BLW,but now I've done it,I wouldn't dream of doing anything else.I just love it.And getting back to the sleep issue, sorry,I think she sleeps better now too. It's only my theory, but her stomach is more comfy coz she's just having what she wants.
cruisemum-Sorry for my ignorance, but is your ds sleeping better? You said you feel like a different person.
Amberjee-go for it,you will find the whole weaning experience much more enjoyable.Beware of the incredible amount of mess though.

Tamdin · 20/04/2007 21:52

redbeki cruise's ds now sleeping through the night
she did cc which isn't for everyone (i'm too much of a wuss) but it worked for them very quickly and both are much happier

PavlovtheCat · 20/04/2007 22:17

Hey guys. I love the great weather! DD loves it outside and is sleeping very well indeed.
She woke twice last night and was asleep again before we got to her! She woke up at 7am. Oh, I really think we have sorted it. She has changed a lot recently, in the last two weeks, she has become a little girl, still a baby but, she has just zoomed with everything. She has been concentrating on walking for so long, but now, she can wave, yesterday she clapped her hands for first time, because she put a peeka block in her elephant and I cheered! And today we went to the beach and daddy made sand towers with her stacking cups and she bashed them down and clapped her hands! [proud mummy emoticon]. She is still not saying mama or dada, but she is laughing all the time, and went straight to sleep, on her own.

BLW - DD loves this, she takes food from a spoon, only if she has food to eat herself. She went through a period of only eating food herself and now takes from a spoon only if she wants to. She now takes a bottle, only 4oz or so at a time, but does it because she can hold it, although we need to push it up for her!!!

I feel like a very happy mummy

PavlovtheCat · 20/04/2007 22:18

Cruise - you must feel great, I am so pleased your LO is sleeping thru now...

PavlovtheCat · 20/04/2007 22:19

Cruise - I know what you mean about the naps too! DD has quite random sleeping patterns during the day, varying from half hour x 2, to 2.5 hours at a time!

redbeki · 20/04/2007 22:22

cruise, that's fantastic,I'm really pleased for you.I am so not with it and still don't know what cc is all about.
Happy days

Tamdin · 20/04/2007 22:22

hi pav. am in and out of the bar tonight too. dh away. sounds like your dd is thriving. ds sleeping well too bar odd night of disruption but have learnt to live with those. he said his first word this week (at only 14m ) it is 'down' ie i want down from cot/highchair or anything else holding him back from doing what he wants for 2 mins!!

PavlovtheCat · 20/04/2007 22:23

Tamdin - YEY for your LOs first word!!!!

Tamdin · 20/04/2007 22:23

me neither redbeki. think it comes from a few books especially she who cannot be named but haven't read any of them.

Tamdin · 21/04/2007 08:43

morning. good night here but considering ds slept with me most of the night not surprising really.
Bed at 7.30 not a peep until 12(when i brought him in with me)not a peep until 4(bottle for 5 mins) up at 8 for day
mil coming this morning to babysit so i can go to the gym.
Don't really feel like it atm but the plans are made which is good because i have to go.
Hope there were some more good nights out there. x

Swizzler · 21/04/2007 09:02

So glad or those with better nights. W slept from 7:30 - 11, but then decided that 3am was getting up time - brought him into bed with us anhe snoozed a bit. Ah well, at least it's thw weekend!

Tamdin · 21/04/2007 09:15

swizz it's hard when they have their best sleep before you've gone to bed. I have been known when ds was smaller to go to bed at the same time as him just to get a 4 hour block. hope you get a nap today x

redbeki · 21/04/2007 11:47

Me too Tamdin,I don't read baby books!
Do you mean Mrs voldemort!!

MaeWest · 21/04/2007 13:27

Well I went OUT last night, as in out of the house out, eating a meal with friends and having a few drinks out. Apparently DS woke up a few times early evening but DH managed to shush him down . Then the boy was fairly kind to my wine-befuddled state and allowed me a few hours kip before waking a bit after 4am for feed.

I borrowed a copy of SWMNBN's book (you know the one - about small infants being very happy) just to see what the fuss was about. Obviously I won't comment on what I thought about it .

cruisemum1 · 21/04/2007 14:00

hello all .
redbeki - just to clarify.... i didn't read a book on cc before i did it, nor did i plan on it, it just kind of happened one eve after my 4th visit to ds's room in 1hr. i just went in, kissed him, stroked his face and cuddled him lying in cot and left the room. after 1 min i did it again, then 2 mins, 2 mins again, 4 mins. the longest gap was 6 mins by which time he was grizzling more than crying and he fell asleep. i think he was ready for it and has benefited enormously from being able to sleep without my help. it is not something i ever thought i would do but i had reached the end of my tether and could see no end to sleepless nights wuthout some crying at some point even a year down the road. enjoy the sunshine all,
cruise

cruisemum1 · 21/04/2007 14:02

btw - i took 40 mins total some of which he wsa grizzling/quiet. hth

Tamdin · 21/04/2007 15:09

Cruise hope I didn't offend you in anyway. redbeki just asked the question why you felt like a new women and i told her. I know you didn't read up on it in any book but i was explaining to redbeki that there are books on it. I have always said I'm too much of a wuss to try cc (wish i wasn't) but i'm so glad it worked for you. anyway no offence was meant

cruisemum1 · 21/04/2007 15:24

tam - no offence taken . we are all friends on ehre - even if we are separated by miles and airwaves!

redbeki · 21/04/2007 15:37

Brill Cruise,I think we all get to times in our lives, when positive action needs to be taken.
Sounds like you were at that point in time.
Lets face it you couldn't carry on for much longer before something had to happen.
My lo is sleeping much better generally speaking. They all sleep through eventually.there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm really happy for you ,,

gingerninja · 21/04/2007 16:13

Pav, Tam that's excellent news. Your LO's sound like they're growing up.

Mine has got her second tooth. Part of me is a bit sad, silly really but they're not babies for very long are they? Teeth seem so grown up.

Last night was another rotter but given that her tooth has cut this morning I suppose it can only be expected. I tried to resist feeding but after about 3 hours I relented. She then fell sound asleep so part of me wishes I'd just done it earlier.

Ahh Cruise, I wish I could have the success that you're having.

Amberjee · 21/04/2007 16:55

we had an ok night. easily settled at 7.30. woke at 10pm. i dream fed him at 11.15. then he woke at 2 and 6. so much better than what we've done recently.

Tamdin · 21/04/2007 17:08

thanks cruise

tibsy · 21/04/2007 22:38

hello and goodnight ladies!!
been gardening today under the instruction of my mother, then reciprocated by giving her some reflexology, so no time to post today. have just skim read posts.
our night pretty much same as last couple. dd seems to have discovered the 'dream feed' that shes never had before every night for the last 3. she seems genuinely hungry tho ah well, if it keeps her happy gotta go, bed beckons, dp out on the razz so i get the bed to myself for a few hours
tam, am very of your dh, my bro lives in holland, and i lurve amsterdam
muchos hugs and sleepy vibes to you all xxxx

Tamdin · 22/04/2007 07:36

morning. not a great night here. went down at 6.45 (he was exhausted) but from 8 I had to settle him at least 2 or 3 times before i went to bed at 11 then he came in with me but was still not very settled. Had milk at 1.30 (thought it might be hunger) which he drank but it wasn't the miracle cure i was hoping for and he decided at 5.45 that he was up for the day
he is of course not eating his breakfast and yawning his head off (this emoticon seems a bit harsh need a not impressed one!)
anyway i've got bf's dd's 6th birthday party to go to from 2 today so he'll prob not sleep tonight either if he gets his hands on any of that birthday cake!
on the plus side dh is back at tea time and boy we've missed him x

Tamdin · 22/04/2007 07:37

now eating his breakfast
