Good to hear of improvements. Amber: hope things continue to improve for you - it is useful to consider how far our LOs have come, despite being relative bad sleepers still.

Well, a better night for us as well . Bed at 6, woke briefly at 7 but shushed back to sleep, then wake and feed at 8, 10:45, 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 (then into bed with us and fed and snoozed till 8). At least 2 hrs each time . Counting that as 2-3 wakings during the 'proper' night. Feel so much better this morning . Think the sling is helping - DH has taken him out in it this afternoon for the first time. He naps pretty well in it, though still wakes and stirs when you stop walking. We've also gone back to swaddling.

Oh, and not only did DS go to sleep in his cot, he woke briefly at 12, kicked about a bit and then went back to sleep on his own!

cruisemum1 · 28/03/2007 16:47

we are making progress! yipee! we deserve it. dslast night woke at 10.10 and 3:50am which is great and has left me refreshed and happy....

Swizzler · 28/03/2007 19:05

Great news Cruisemum

MaeBee · 28/03/2007 19:06

hurrah to you cruisemum! and it sounds like generally the day/night has been going well for everyone???

erm, ok, i still dont get it, how do i find the bar???

Swizzler · 28/03/2007 19:54

New thread every evening: tonight's is here

Swizzler · 29/03/2007 07:58

Anothe better night: down at 6 no problems, woke at 8:30, 10, 12:30, 3 and 5 (then into bed with us and up at 7:30).The sling seems to tire him out a bit more, or it could be that he;s not napping for quite as long while he's getting used to it. Anyway, he's v bright and chirpy this morning and I don't feel too bad myself!

Hope everyone else had a good night.

Tamdin · 29/03/2007 08:03

morning swizz. i'm soooooo tired today. went to see sugababes last night...what age am I! so wasn't home until nearly 12. normally i would have managed at least 2 hours sleep by then.As soon as i got home ds got up and wouldn't go back to sleep until about 1.30. He was in and out of our bed until 6.30 this morning so all in all prob only had 2 or 3 hours sleep. it's hard going back to that after a month of at least 4 hour blocks but not complaining too much as know most of you are still only getting blocks of 2 hours if you're lucky
any gossip in the bar last night?

Swizzler · 29/03/2007 08:19

Nothing nearly as exciting as The Night The Man Came In

Sorry to hear about your night - but did you enjoy the concert?

youngmum21 · 29/03/2007 08:35

morning all,

Had a great nite last nite took me 30mins to settle dd with out the dummy, she woke at 10.30 for a feed, after a bit of winging she managed to settle herself bak to sleep she then went on to sleep till 3.15 decided she had done really well so gave her the dummy got up once to replace and she sleep till 7.15 with no nite feed as well so yay fir us

Tamdin did you have a good time at the conxert though??

Tamdin · 29/03/2007 08:40

yes they were excellent. Depressingly sexy and gorgeous especially heidi (the blonde). The men there (that weren't gay ) sat with their tongues hanging out as alot of the show is a bit pole dancerish.
we took my friend's 11 year old daughter and her cousin so they thought it was the best thing ever.
worth the lack of sleep i guess

MaeBee · 29/03/2007 09:23

swizzler - about the sling: it may be crazy talk, but i found that if i gave my lo maximum physical contact in the day, it helped him go a stint without me at night: so if i had him in the buggy i had to "make up for it" by giving him loads of cuddles and walking about holding him to get any sort of sleep at night...that could be the same with your lo?

another good night here. never made it to the bar cos i realized i could go to bed and READ! havent done that in many months, and as dp was out, i took a book to bed and oooh how luxury is that?

boy in bed at 7, needed some extra ssshing and one pupd at 7.30, then fed at 9, then again at 11, and then not til 7.15! so he did a good 8 hrs between feeds. he did wake up at 4 and his dad went in and ssshed him so now ive written it down it doesnt look so good!

im going to start night weaning in april. ive heard of the idea of a "core night" where you take a block they naturally do without feeding: so in this case, 11 til 7, and then dont feed in those times again, cos you know they can manage it.
anyone else want to start night weaning on same day, so we can do support?!? he's 6 mths on 2nd april, so was going to start a few days after that.

cruisemum1 · 29/03/2007 10:15

maebee - that is excellent. you must feel great! i am trying to wean from bbo. very hard, maybe i will join you....

cruisemum1 · 29/03/2007 10:21

oops 'boob' not 'bbo'

MaeBee · 29/03/2007 10:26

cruisemum: are you up for starting on an agreed date?!? yours is over 6 mths, no? i know its not advised berfore then.
i think it would be good to do it with support.
saying all that, its only been a week since he was in his own room, so i want to wait another week or so first...around the 9th would be a good date for me to start....what do you reckon??
and how was your night then?

MaeBee · 29/03/2007 10:27

oh, and i only want to night wean, im happy to continue feeding my lo in the day.

tibsy · 29/03/2007 11:28

morning all!! and yey for all those who had good nights!
and ahhh for any who didnt...
mae, that does sound like a good night to me
tam - glad you had a good night, makes you sick tho doesnt it, all those sexy minx's!! ... not that we're not gorgeous hot mamas ourselves of course, even with baby ick and snot(atm) smeared on our shoulders!!! ...is that just me then?
our night was ok bed at 7.30, woke at 9.30 so lay on our bed and held dd's hand thru the bars! i woke at 11.00 came downstairs hoping for some time with dp but dd woke at 11.30. wouldnt settle so i finally got her out of cot at 12.30 to find she was a bit soggy fed her afterwards to get her back to sleep and she woke at 6.45am.
is that a good night, i cant tell... i feel tired today tho.

gingerninja · 29/03/2007 11:44

Maebee, I'm trying to night wean but this morning she wouldn't go back to sleep at 5 so I fed her. (She's 6.5 months) She'd ony been fed at 12 so I'm not convinced she needed it but she has had a cold and did feed for some time so she must have been thirsty. I'm going to also start trying to wean her onto formula in the evenings just to give me a break because it's got to a point where only I can put her to bed. I'm finding that maybe one night in three I can get her to sleep without feeding. Maybe at the weekend if she won't settle I might get DH to offer some water instead see how that works.

Interesting what you say about slings because I've been looking at buying one thinking exactly the same. I do wonder whether some of the waking is insecurity because in the night when she sleeps with me she often just reaches out and touches my hand and then settles back down or I put a hand on her face. She does sleep better when with me. Anyway, I've got a baby bjorn but they're not very comfy for either of us. I've been looking at the wraps and ring slings so I'd be interested to hear if anyone can recommend.

Swizzler, you look so bright and fresh despite your late night drinking. What's your secret? I got sidetracked on other threads. This mumsnet can take up all your time if you're not careful can't it?

Tamdin · 29/03/2007 11:45

morning tibs. those blasted nappies. they've disrupted many a potentially 'good' night for us. if she went from 12.30 until after 6 i think that's pretty good. Remember ncss says 5 or more hours is considered through the night!

Tamdin · 29/03/2007 11:46

morning ginger

PavlovtheCat · 29/03/2007 11:47

Hey guys, just wanted to post to say well done all those with better sleeping babes, and sorry to those who are not having a good time still.

Things up and down here, mostly getting there, but LO has yet another horrid cough, coughed so hard she was sick last night, twice so she came in with us. Needless to say DP and I did not sleep well, LO did, and had plenty, plenty of BF!

tibsy · 29/03/2007 11:48

how come i feel so knackered then? maybe i had too much sleep? ......dont think so somehow

OP posts:
Tamdin · 29/03/2007 11:49

morning pav the cough then sick thing is a regular occurance in this house. dread him getting a cough. at least the bf means she's getting all that goodness to help her get well.

tibsy · 29/03/2007 11:50

hi pav, lo got a cold too. just a grotty nose atm and am hoping it doesnt turn into anything else.

ginger, how did it go with the hv yesterday?

OP posts:
Tamdin · 29/03/2007 11:50

tibs i sometimes think you just get a tired day like that. was going to say it's sometimes when period is due but as your bf it can't be that with you.
