hi ladies, the other one ran out of space, so if no one else starts a new thread, here it is....

Amber: as others have said, go with it for the time being and she will change soon enough . I know if William reaklly doesn't want to do something he won't and no tricks can persuade him otherwise!

Slow but sure progress here - asleep at 7, woke for feeds at 9:30, 12, 3:15 (yay!) then 5 (and into bed with us). Don't think it was all due to the Medised as he only had 1 dose at 6pm. Is he getting into a new routine ?

Cruisemum: yay!!! Hope it's repeated tonight. So pleased for you - esp as you went with your instincts and seem to have picked the right time for you and your LO

tibsy · 06/04/2007 10:51

hi everyone

Sounds like we are finally getting somewhere with our los, dd has only been waking once a nite for the last two nites and is doing really well with out her dummy and still going with out any feed at nite!!!

Hope you all have a nice easter weekend xx

gingerninja · 06/04/2007 13:26

Cruise, well done. Very brave of you and glad it paid off. Did you find it heart breaking? My DD was a bit of a nightmare last night waking every couple of hours. I think her other front tooth is on it's way tho.

Must dash as I'm making thai green curry for this evening while DD is gardening with DH!

cruisemum1 · 06/04/2007 17:58

ta all, ginger it wasn't too bad because i was so exhausted that i felt something had to be addressed and soon. i didn't plan on it it just sort of materialised. i did feel guilty but he wasn't as bad as i had thought though he was fairly resistant and noisy . What a sunny sunny day we had today though. All well rested and happy. worth it imo. guess i have to do the same tonight but it obviously paid off so i must......
happy easter weekend to us all

tibsy · 06/04/2007 18:33

cruise, have only just had time to read thru the previous messages and having just read thru yours re. your attempt at cc, my message to amber sounded rather a pointed stab at what you had chosen to do. believe me, i'm sorry if you read it and thought that that was what it was, because it wasnt motherhood is a tough enough job as it is, without fellow mothers judging what is and isnt right. it (cc) isnt something i could do, although, i guess i have in a fashion when i've just needed to step back from the situation before i threw myself (or dd!!!) out of a window. anyway, if it works for you, then good luck to you
anyway, gotta go, am on my own this weekend as dp away and dd is calling me....
lets hope we all have muchos sleep tonight

tibsy - i didn't take offence (or even notice for that matter!) it feels like we are all friends on here in any case so it would take more than someones opinion to pee me off! AFter all, it is the one thing we are entitled to....
peaceful nights for all. I am hoping htat ds sleeps soundly again and I don't need to do too much of the crying thing

Swizzler · 06/04/2007 19:30

Hope everyone enjoyed the sun - DS was in the park most of the day so hopefully this will mean a peaceful night. He's asleep Without Benefit of Medised tonight so a good start

Wishing everyone a peaceful Easter weekend

gingerninja · 06/04/2007 19:39

Cruise, keep us posted. I'm interested to know how you're getting on.

I don't think I've got the stamina for CC as I start to go a bit mental after 30 seconds of her crying but I can't deny that a part of me is envious of people when they say it works. Last night and tonight (so far) were unsettled tho. I guess I've committed myself to riding the storm but why do you think some people's children sleep and others don't. I don't think I've done,or not done, anything that can influence her waking so frequently. Is it just luck? Tibsy did your first have the same sleep habits as the second?

cruisemum1 · 06/04/2007 20:52

ginger - btw - my dd was also bf, slept through the night from 11 weeks, took two two hour naps in her cot or anywhere else during the day. I have not done anything differently with ds. They are just different. luck of the draw i guess. love them both the same though, they are gorgeous!

gingerninja · 06/04/2007 21:03

How did it go tonight Cruise?

cruisemum1 · 06/04/2007 21:13

6 mins total! of course i am nervous about tonight but amazed and elated too
thanks for asking ginger

Swizzler · 06/04/2007 21:14

Great news Cruisemum

amijee · 06/04/2007 21:27

well done cruise - i hope it continues. My ds went down after only 2-3 mins crying tonight - let's see what the night brings.

Sending good sleep easter vibes to all your little ones!

gingerninja · 06/04/2007 21:30

Well done Cruise, brilliant news. I look forward to your post tomorrow and hope it's a good one. Good nights all

Swizzler · 07/04/2007 07:14

Another goo dnight for us - asleep at 7, brief wake at 7:45 (does anyone else get this?) and then woke for a feed at 11, 2 and 5 . Does seem to be getting more regular - could this be a new pattern?

The main thing that seems to have helped (tho hard to tell) is doing the oull-off thing for all the night feeds (prevoiusly was doing it for the bedtime feed only). Oh, and the tooth coming through.

Hope everyone had a good night and is enjoying Easter.

Tamdin · 07/04/2007 08:14

morning all. swizz you can cope with 3 hour blocks can't you. we did until he was about 10m and then it went to 4 hour blocks and sometimes 5 on a good night. now 7 months on he seems to have found his way and is only waking once (very briefly)for his milk. (except when teething when he needs more TLC)He still doesn't eat enough during the day which is obviously why he's still waking for his bottle. he's a grazer and just won't eat alot in one sitting but at least he's not fussy anymore and yesterday had avocado and olives at lunchtime!

Swizzler · 07/04/2007 08:19

Tibsy: yes, 3 hours is much better (good timing IF IT LASTS as I'm back to work next week) . I'd be happy with 1 or 2 wakings for quite a while yet - he is still small and needs his food

cruisemum1 · 07/04/2007 08:26

well done swizz - defo more manageable if wakings are predictable. good nite here.
6 mins crying to settle then one waking at 2:30am. i did feed as i had said that 1 waking deserves benefit of the doubt but any more and it's just habit. he stirred/grizzled at 5am but settled himself till 7.10am!

Swizzler · 07/04/2007 08:27

Yay for another good night!

amijee · 07/04/2007 08:38

hi all

Ds had the best night of his life - pity mummy couldn't sleep! ( my body is used to constant wakings)

He went down at 9pm with 2-3 mins crying, woke at 2am with 15 mins crying and at 05.30 with 5 mins crying then slept until 7.30am - smiling and happy.

Cruise - he wasn't ravenous at 7.30am and was more interested in my bed etc so they can't be that hungry overnight.

Anyway - long may it continue.

cruisemum1 · 07/04/2007 08:48

ami - fantastic!!! . I'm also knackered . seems lo is learning to sleep but i can't do the same! body on full alert after months of frequent wakings. Still, i feel full of hope

Tamdin · 07/04/2007 09:19

on another good night cruise x

tibsy · 07/04/2007 11:25

cruise well done you and ds!!! sleep AND sunshine too, you must be bouncing off the walls

youngmum and ami

ginger, like cruise, first child (ds) was a sleeper, dd,..... obviously not or wouldnt be on here the only thing i did differently with ds was that i didnt bf him beyond a few days. i mistakenly thought i didnt have enough milk otherwise, 'routine' was the same. sounds like it is the luck of the draw i still adore her tho

swizzler - good night again!!!!yey

tam - my lo is a grazer too and come to think of it, ds was as well. dd's built like a racing tadpole dp says!!! wish she was a bit chunkier sometimes tho, as when shes ill, she cant afford to lose any weight iyswim?
