Anyfucker - you know you are the only person that has ever made me write a swear word on the internet. Really, I had never done it before I responded to one of your posts.

AnyFucker · 29/09/2009 20:30

NotanOtter

not a chance

mrsruffallo · 29/09/2009 20:31

freedom of speech covers the offended as well doesn't it?
It's a vulgar name, reminds me of a school show off.

NotanOtter · 29/09/2009 20:31

thats really funny AF

yeah i'm laughing

BecauseImWorthIt · 29/09/2009 20:32

AnyFucker · 29/09/2009 20:32

aww, ABD, that gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling

OP posts:
OnlyWantsOneFartleBerry · 29/09/2009 20:32

I just had to look up what a fartle berry was in order to change my name, I feel grose and unclean now.

AnyFucker · 29/09/2009 20:35

dare I ask what a fartleberry is ?

is it a clinger-type thing ?

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 29/09/2009 20:36

BIWI, strong feelings there then

Mamazon · 29/09/2009 20:36

and i agree that people have given CW a lot of stick quite publicly when it would have been a lot easier for people to just report her posts and request MNHQ ask her quietly to namechange fi they found it offensive.

this whole situation has been blown way out of proportion. it has never been about freedom of sp[eech or expression or censorship. its about common sense and respect.

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 29/09/2009 20:37

Whilst I don't object to the names AnyFucker or QueenofFuckingEverything I fail to see why they are clever or funny.

AnyFucker · 29/09/2009 20:40

yes mama, and if people knew who she was under another name, they would know that would not have been a problem at all

she posted a lot of helpful and insightful comments under that name too, and no-one batted an eyelid then

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 29/09/2009 20:40

Sorry Mamazon - whilst it is about respect and consideration it is also absolutely about censorship.

At the moment it's about those who object to the word 'cunt'.

What happens, then, when people object to the word 'fuck' - or any other word? A precedent has been set. If one word has been banned because some find it offensive, then others will also have to be banned by the same criteria.

And I know it's not been banned yet, but that is clearly the implication.

Lilyloo · 29/09/2009 20:43

'But when 2nd 3rd 4th 5th threads are started the chinese whispers are fuelled, people don't bother to find out what it is actually all about.'
Exactly Princess

Have we not already done the censoring thing on the 'other' thread ?

'If the people who were offended at the people who were offended about the offensive names had ignored the "I'm offended" threads, it would have all blown over... no? ' wannabe

QueenOfFuckingEverything · 29/09/2009 20:46

Oh dear.

I like this name. The inspiration was some wrapping paper on a present from a friend who knows me (and my slightly stroppy, occasionally foot stamping, tendencies) very well.

I wanted it as my MN name when I first joined a couple of years ago and registered it back then, but never used it as I thought it was A Bit Much. I ended up with a 'mama' name instead. I just got this name back out of the cupboard after the whole DM thing.

I'm still not sure whether to keep it now or not. To me its a bit of a self-deprecating joke, but if its offending or alienating the majority of posters then I'll change it.

Lilyloo · 29/09/2009 20:46

Anyfucker i disagree , i think people had batted an eyelid. When mama12 originally posted asking why she had chosen that name other people recognised it and said they found it offensive so presume they must have noted it during other threads ?

AnyFucker · 29/09/2009 20:48

steady on Queeny, am not sure the majority are offended

OP posts:
OnlyWantsOneFartleBerry · 29/09/2009 20:48

I like the name Queen

It makes me sad that people are not allowed to be known by the names that they choose.

Bloody ridiculous.

OnlyWantsOneFartleBerry · 29/09/2009 20:49

for what it is worth - I am not offended by any name, or any name that has rude connotations.

There have been many more offensive posters, with very ordinary names.

Shall we not even mention googling dragons?

CuntFace · 29/09/2009 20:55

I think its pathetic
