We've deleted the Madeleine McCann thread

JustineMumsnet · 04/05/2009 22:34

Because had we deleted all the posts that were worthy of deletion contained within it we would have lost half a thread, and what remained would have made no sense.

We would like to remind folks that Mumsnet's central philosophy is to make parents' lives easier. The McCanns are parents, they haven't been found guilty of anything and they have lost a child. By all means discuss the issues around this tragic case but please don't attack them personally here.
Thanks,
MNHQ

??

mrsblanc · 05/05/2009 23:54

?? from me too!

blinks · 06/05/2009 00:21

aaaaaanyway, seeing as there is such strong opinion about the MM thread, i've been in touch with MNHQ and they're interested in your opinions about incorporating a section or topic in Mumsnet that appeals and informs on the subject of missing children.

i feel it would also be a good opportunity to highlight child protection and safety issues for parents.

i've started a thread and if all the people who feel strongly enough about the McCann story would offer feedback and hopefully their support, MN may well take it on board and set something up.

it's INTERNATIONAL MISSING CHILDREN'S DAY on May 25th 2009 and Mumsnet could bring alot of attention to many of UK's missing children and young people.

Please go to the thread here and let MNHQ know what you reckon.

fank oo

MintChocAddict · 06/05/2009 00:26

Good idea blinks. Will go to your linked thread.

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/05/2009 07:51

A bit uncalled for, chatta, surely?

mamadiva · 06/05/2009 09:09

Chatta has no other posts other than this thread, and the nutjob that was throwing accusations on the MM thread has gone missing.... coincidence?

Do you have a point you would wish to make Chatta or are you just doing it for the sake of it?

If you do have something to say please do if not why bother being an arse about it??

Mumcentreplus · 06/05/2009 09:57
Hmm
Mumcentreplus · 06/05/2009 10:01

I luv being ironic Izy...just like you like being repetitive

walkinthewoods · 06/05/2009 10:35

Blinks
Brilliant idea. Something good has come of this thread then....

blinks · 06/05/2009 10:54

thanks walkinthewoods. could you pop over to the thread here and add your yes vote so MNTowers take note?

ta!

girlandboy · 06/05/2009 11:22

Glad I missed the other thread - I've only just noticed this one.

If you were to live near the McCann's village like I do, you would see that the focus is just on finding Madeleine and nothing else. The village doesn't apportion blame, (what people think privately is their own business,) but we just focus on the fact that there may be a little girl somewhere out there who should be back home.

I see Gerry McCann cycling home from work, and when I see him I see a man who needs his daughter back.

It's very easy to point the finger, but I would hope I have more compassion than that.

blinks · 06/05/2009 11:45

also Madeleine's family, esp her uncle is now very involved in raising awareness about missing children as a consequence.

izyboy · 06/05/2009 13:13

...but at least my posts attempt to serve a positive purpose Mumcentre - yours dont appear to have any point unless it is to get a little jibe in to undermine others and then 'skip' off.

By the way, I dont particularly enjoy being repetitive, but with some people, it is the only way they are able to take on board an alternative viewpoint.

izyboy · 06/05/2009 13:14

Oh yes blinks, I was wondering if your idea would be taken on board - good stuff!

Saphire1 · 06/05/2009 21:08

Blinks, I think it is an excellent idea - all missing children are of equal importance, irrespective of race, class or creed.

Mumcentreplus · 07/05/2009 13:09

izy it's not the purpose of every post to bring enlightenment my dear.....I just think it's rich to complain about a thread then spend time complaining about the people who said things you don't agree with on said thread??? and yet the other thread was terrible/disgusting but you continue to talk about it??

anyway......blinks good idea.

blinks · 07/05/2009 15:19

thanks MC+ and saphire1... please go here and add your voices to the yes-es.

izyboy · 07/05/2009 18:25

...but you are obviously incapable of posting anything that can be understood within the context of the discussion Mumcentre, 'darling'. Still dont know what you are gibbering on about btw.

Mumcentreplus · 07/05/2009 20:32

why am I not surprised love..
