10/10 threads (les leeks c'est chic etc) - would you like your own topic in health?

Because it's funny innit? Or are you content in general health?

Firstly I want to state that I have no objection whatsoever to haing a subtopic of their own.

BUT this is not the only "thread series" for want of another phrase - so I would object to this one being singled out.

Off the top of my head - and I don't claim to be fully inclusive - there are the FLY ladies (whihc Justine does mention); The D'ya threads on multiples, the "in memory" threads; the bar; the coffee room; the staff room....

I realise that many of these are already in topics which are not as broad as health so kind of have more of a niche anyway. BUT they shouldn't be forgotten. And I don't think they are the longest thread running. Unless I have missed something I reckon they are less than 12m old (which they may have been without such obvious titles). I am pretty certain that D'ya, FLYladies and certainly teh bar an tea shop are older.

As I say I hae no problem with it having a topic of it's own -- Maybe something a little more broad such as "healthy lifestyles" would be better - and please don't dismiss the other "long running" threads just because the titles aren't quite as witty (even though I think that D'ya could give them a run for their money.

what is much older?

I cerainly wasn't aware of the 10/10 threads when I started posting mid 2006. BUT I can't discount the fact that they had boring and "unoticable names back then.

Guadalupe · 25/03/2009 21:32

I think you missed something, but then I cannot say exactly how much you missed because I have no idea really.

It's not about longevity though is it? Or getting something at the expense of other threads. Then we would be in the realm of aspirational topics. What is D'ya btw?

SlightlyMadScotland · 25/03/2009 21:34

D'ya is a twins and multiples commune.

Boco · 25/03/2009 21:34

Yes it's been around years. I've been on it over 2 years and it'd been going ages then.

Guadalupe · 25/03/2009 21:34

See what all this sticky giving does, it causes bad feelings that what it does.

Boco and Bbbee are wrong. Ha.

Guadalupe · 25/03/2009 21:35

Oh yes, I know the multiples one, sorry.

SlightlyMadScotland · 25/03/2009 21:40

Sorry I didn't mean it like that.

As I say don't mind about the fact that it might get it's own topic. I do mind that some other longer running threads (D'ya started April 05; albeit prettty slowly at first - and it is not the only thread series) are being "forgtten about" in the discussions about this.

pointydog · 25/03/2009 21:49

I am still pondering over jsutine's comment that 'folk start finding common interests' and reconciling that with the fact people on these threads just talk about fruits and any old shite. That constitutes common interests, does it?

I think expectations are very low on this site

SuperBunny · 25/03/2009 22:01

Talking any old shite? Pointydog

pointydog · 25/03/2009 22:06

I mean that in teh nicest way, bunny. It's one of its charms.

(Although I apologise if anyone is offended by that as I have picked up on a few more serious posts and not trying to belittle them)

Lummy, I'm writing disclaimers now

CKelpie · 25/03/2009 22:16

I love the titles of the 10/10 threads and once I actually dipped in and had a read - I do the exercise easily but have no idea how I could squeeze in 10 portions of fruit/veg a day.

I don't think other regular threads should or would feel snubbed - I reckon most are happy doing what they do, where they do.
But I may be misguided...

SuperBunny · 25/03/2009 22:41

I should have put a in there, pointy. And old shite is quite a good description.

I'm voting yes. I think that means I have voted 'no', 'maybe' and 'yes' now.

Boco · 25/03/2009 22:46

Yessss. That's me, Bee, ahundred because she agrees with bee because of the letter, and SB.

BBBee · 26/03/2009 06:39

it would make it easier for me to find the threads. selfishly i demand it happens.

but i am being naive and it is obviously a conspiracy to make 10/10ers easier to identify for the mass banning.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/03/2009 08:16

Come join us ckelpie. I never thought I would get 10 f&v in a day, but I do more often than not. We can give you tips on the f&v and you can reciprocate with some exercise tips

JustineMumsnet · 26/03/2009 08:49

Right, so, where are we then? Can I take it that we have found no consensus and are trapped in a vortex of havering and indecision? Shall we have a poll like the ones we have for the book club? Choices for topics could be:

10/10 thingummies (or something catchier?)
Healthy living (boring snoring)
Bugger off and leave us be will ya MNHQ

(BigTech would be pleased.)

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 09:05

oh no i knew someone would come on and say "but what about US"
oh i don't know justine
i find i don't much care and i am sure you have better things to be doing than wrangling with us
the thing Bee said was the funniest:

"to be honest justine 10/10ers are fucking nuts. i would not try and converse with them if i were you"

i think that is my final opinion

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 09:06

and yes i started it in 2006 and there was a brief break i think but otherwise it has been running continuously since then [ner]

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 09:07

AND i thought it was nice of you to ask, and i never believed them about you wanting to put baby in a corner, or whatever it was Confused
don#t listen to 100, she writes odd books about sewing up stomachs
she's been obsessed with it for YEARS

ReallyReally · 26/03/2009 09:11

many, many years ago I got left behind by the 10/10ers because I hid health because I got anxious about having every disease I read about

so I never saw it and became buried under leaves

naturally no-one has a clue who I am now

ahundredtimes · 26/03/2009 09:20

Right. Let's make a decision.

Justine let's create a Fruity Living topic and put 10/10 in there.

or Healthy Living or F&V, and then if Franny squints her eyes she can pretend it says F&Z and that'll please her.
