This Morning want a couple of Mumsnetters to appear with Carrie and Justine next week... anyone fancy it?

ITV's This Morning programme have invited me and Justine on to talk about the Toddlers book and want to also invite a couple of Mumsnetters to talk about how they got into Mumsnet and what Mumsnet means to them etc.

The date will probably be 4th or 5th Feb, they will need us between 9.30 and 12 and are prepared to pay travel expenses.

Anyone out there interested in snuggling up on the sofa? If you are, please put a bit of blurb about yourself here - how many children you have/how old, how you got into Mumsnet and what it means to you etc - so This Morning can decide who they might fancy inviting. If you do volunteer we may have to pass your email details on to This Morning, in case they want to chat to you, so shout now if you'd rather we didn't do that.

Thanks,

MNHQ

thats not the point WWW2, not the point at all

just becuase fb users can see my details, it doesn't give you the right to get those details and post them on here

people can cross reference those details and simply look me up in the sodding phone book.

its not on that you took the decision to post MY details here becuase anyone on the www could see them. quite simply that is not YOUR decision to make.

bad form

Winehouse · 03/02/2009 15:42

And I can see I asked for the woe is me comments about eastenders and mushroom risotto!

Tortington · 03/02/2009 15:43

aitch, it said my name

VictorianSqualor · 03/02/2009 15:46

Obviously boiling the dog is as bit extreme, but that list could have outed some MNers to who they are in RL.

If someone on MN saw someone they knew on that member's list they could then probably work out which poster the RL person was.

Personally, I'm not anon, too lazy and not interesting enough, but there are people who are not happy with who they are in RL being known to everyone.

If I knew a Clare Smith IRL and saw her picture on that members list I would then know she was an MNer. I could then probably find out which MNer with a bit of digging. That's not good.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 15:48

Custy has said before that she is a member of DoM.
The Mumsnet fb group no doubt would be equally riled if someone linked to it's members pages as I'm pretty sure they do have their Mumsnet names on there too.

In the world of cyber stalking, it was a petty thing to do. And luckily MNHQ thought it too.

Winehouse - history? Now I liked history at school, still do. Your profile is interesting, I think I like you!

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 15:53

it didn't say custardo. i looked.

so alas, i am none the wiser.

WideWebWitch · 03/02/2009 15:53

I've only skimmed this thread but can I please point out to anyone reading that neither Wickedwitchofwestlife nor Wickedwitchofwestfield are ME. There was a thread on it yesterday but I just wanted to mention it in case anyone thought we were the same.

Anyway, carry on, as you were.

Blu · 03/02/2009 15:54

I am in agreement with Custy here. Apart from anything else, ANYTHING that has been done on this thread (and there has been lots) to score points or have a go at another Mner or group of MNers is just pathetic.

The hierarchy thing is right - how can one poster say 'that's not our kerryMum'- about a poster that has been here more than 3 years???? I'm not talking about name confusion, I'm talking about an atmosphere of one-upmanship, threats ('youll lose us al if you choose a moldie'), pointing fingers at DoM, pointing fingers at moldies, all of it!

It's EASY to respect and like people you agree with. far better things come from having some respect for those you might have a disagreement with.

Blu · 03/02/2009 15:55

Sorry - I'm just exasperated.

Tamarto · 03/02/2009 15:55

So the problem is she made the info easily accesable?

However the fact that it was there before for anyone to do the same and make the same link is different.

No one joined the group in order to post that list, i am not a member but as curiosity got the better of me i searched the same thing and got the same list it was public info, sorry.

Custardo - This WWWestlife isn't the WWW who replied to wickedwaterwitch's thread.

pinksancerre · 03/02/2009 15:57

Good post Blu.

BTW - not a newbie but a namechanger. old name had my rl first name in it and felt the need for a change!

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 15:57

blu, i thought that km1 was a namechange, therefore the pp was quite within her rights.

and mn is all about scoring a wee point here and there.

Tamarto · 03/02/2009 15:58

Please ignore the truly awful spelling.

wickedwitchofwestlife · 03/02/2009 15:58

I absolutely take all your points on board custardo. I clearly hadnt thought it through whichis why i didnt give any weight to its importance. xxx

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 03/02/2009 16:01

Bugger me WWW, I thought you were one and the same. Now that is confusing. Thanks for clearing that up.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 16:02

Divulging real life names on a site that has usernames to protect anonymity is a bit shite. Why do you think we go to this trouble to have usernames?

It's a terrible thing to do and saying that it's there if you search for it doesn't make it any better. Who would search for it if they didn't know it was there? Creating a link just makes it easier for everyone to do doesn't it?

If my fb details ended up on Mumsnet I would be livid. And I'm sure if wwwestlife's details were posted, she would be none too happy either.

Why treat people in a way you wouldn't want to be treated yourself? Do you think you are any better than them?

I think This Morning have taken one look at this thread and changed their minds about having Mumsnetters on. I don't blame them, I'd just have Carrie and Justine on.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 16:03

xposts with you wwwestlife.

ladycornyofsilke · 03/02/2009 16:06

Blu I said that- how many Kerrymums are there then?

ladycornyofsilke · 03/02/2009 16:07

And it was said tongue in cheek - if you want to take offence go right ahead.

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 16:08

BUT NO-ONE WOULD KNOW THAT THEY'RE YOUR DETAILS, RHUBS! i saw the list, nd apart from the muppet didn't recognise a soul...

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 16:11

'snot the point.

Is it?

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 16:12

I might work with Tracey Smith, not knowing she is a Mumsnetter, see that list, recognise her and then realise that she is a Mumsnetter.

Is that not how people like cod get stalked and have to leave?

ladycornyofsilke · 03/02/2009 16:13

That would be my worry as well Rhubarb.

Tortington · 03/02/2009 16:18

gosh i suppose it could be upsetting for the original WWW2 to be mixed up with this current WWW2, anything post www will be www2

Thanks www2 for your kindly response, the lack of bolshy frontin' additude and in its place acceptance is very telling and appreciated.

WideWebWitch · 03/02/2009 16:27

I don't want anyone to think I am WWW2 or WWW3 or anything!

I really think it's not on for anyone to post anything that could identify rl names here though, very bad form indeed imo.
