This Morning want a couple of Mumsnetters to appear with Carrie and Justine next week... anyone fancy it?

ITV's This Morning programme have invited me and Justine on to talk about the Toddlers book and want to also invite a couple of Mumsnetters to talk about how they got into Mumsnet and what Mumsnet means to them etc.

The date will probably be 4th or 5th Feb, they will need us between 9.30 and 12 and are prepared to pay travel expenses.

Anyone out there interested in snuggling up on the sofa? If you are, please put a bit of blurb about yourself here - how many children you have/how old, how you got into Mumsnet and what it means to you etc - so This Morning can decide who they might fancy inviting. If you do volunteer we may have to pass your email details on to This Morning, in case they want to chat to you, so shout now if you'd rather we didn't do that.

Thanks,

MNHQ

crossed posts, fair enough

Isn't DoM a closed group anyway?
So that would mean the poster is a member?

wickedwitchofwestlife · 03/02/2009 14:20

anyone on facebook can see it though? I dont see the problem. If its just for a laugh, then again, I dont see the problem. If you are on facebook and your ID is public, then you are opening yourself up to millions of facebook users. But im sure MNHQ will delete if they feel differently?

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:20

people's names and faces yes... but not their MN names. [over-reaction icon]

ladycornyofsilke · 03/02/2009 14:20

It is a closed group.

ladycornyofsilke · 03/02/2009 14:21

You need to get your post pulled westlife.

Threadworm · 03/02/2009 14:21

WWW's link worked for me and I am not a member, so, no , it isn't closed. Besides it isn't really a group at all, just a silly joke afaik.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:21

Did you know that people can view your photos and stuff on the fb default settings btw? I only found out when someone searching for me, found out it was me by trawling through my photos and recognising some of my family members!

I went into privacy settings and changed it, but it's a bit shocking to think that the default settings basically let anyone view your stuff.

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:22

who started it? does anyone on this thread know?

posieflump · 03/02/2009 14:22

I wouldn't like my real name on here, that's why I use a nickname!

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:24

you mean posie flump isn't your real name?

yes, posie... so given that there is no correlation between MN name and RL name, no one is any the wiser as to the membership of the DoM. so no need to panic.

VictorianSqualor · 03/02/2009 14:25

Mine is completely private rhubs but I know a friend had pics of her daughter frollicking about naked and my cousin messaged me to say that even though the profile was private all my friends could see anything I commented on and then the direct link could be passed around. Not good.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:25

The DoM site has been discussed on Mumsnet before, it's no secret. But if your link does show peoples real names and photos then perhaps it's best not to link?

For instance, I'm a member of a couple of fb groups, but I wouldn't be too chuffed if another site not related to fb linked to that groups membership page.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:26

And if you don't know their MN names, why did Fio post this "and it is no accident that they are the most vocal on every single thread that anyone who is known to be a moldie is on. I think it is worth bearing in mind that some of your real names are searchable from those links and also your photographs and places of work" ???

Winehouse · 03/02/2009 14:27

You people are just poisonous to each other.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:28

I think you're right winehouse.

ForeverOptimistic · 03/02/2009 14:29

I'm on facebook and yet I can't see any names.

AlistairSim · 03/02/2009 14:29

You say that like it's a bad thing, winehouse.

VictorianSqualor · 03/02/2009 14:30

On one of the two links posted By wickedwitchofwestlife on Tue 03-Feb-09 13:55:39 there is a list of all 41 members.
The other link is the front page, with the Mouldies link.

"For instance, I'm a member of a couple of fb groups, but I wouldn't be too chuffed if another site not related to fb linked to that groups membership page"

It happens all the time, especially groups that appeal to a wider audience. Not such an issue if only a few people would be interested in that group.

There are links to FB groups everywhere on all sorts of sites. One of the reasons i have nothing on my FB account.

VictorianSqualor · 03/02/2009 14:32

You sure Fio?

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:34

me too, tamarto.

Winehouse · 03/02/2009 14:35

As I've said before I came here after the Independent article and I have hardly said anything to anyone. But I have read a lot of messages on a lot of threads and it is quite sad, really. That article made me think you were all a bit over sensitive. But it goes deeper than that, you seem to really dislike so many of your own members.

I know that no-one will notice me at all, so it doesn't matter what I think of you or that I shall probably leave you all to it. Unless I write a follow up article for the independent, I suppose.

TotalChaos · 03/02/2009 14:35

I joined DoM shortly after it started as I saw it as a joke about elitism. Then I unjoined fairly shortly after that as I didn't really wish to pursue the joke further, as quite frankly I can't be arsed with this issue anymore. I suspect most of the members of DoM are similarly minded.
