This Morning want a couple of Mumsnetters to appear with Carrie and Justine next week... anyone fancy it?

ITV's This Morning programme have invited me and Justine on to talk about the Toddlers book and want to also invite a couple of Mumsnetters to talk about how they got into Mumsnet and what Mumsnet means to them etc.

The date will probably be 4th or 5th Feb, they will need us between 9.30 and 12 and are prepared to pay travel expenses.

Anyone out there interested in snuggling up on the sofa? If you are, please put a bit of blurb about yourself here - how many children you have/how old, how you got into Mumsnet and what it means to you etc - so This Morning can decide who they might fancy inviting. If you do volunteer we may have to pass your email details on to This Morning, in case they want to chat to you, so shout now if you'd rather we didn't do that.

Thanks,

MNHQ

But if it's meant to be a closed group then you expect it to be kept private!

Disclaimer: I am not a member of any private groups

So they didn't want a new weather girl?

VictorianSqualor · 03/02/2009 14:37

Winehouse, people get hurt. Just because it isn't 'real life' doesn't stop it being real.
When people get hurt, things sometimes get heated. Just be better if people said what needed saying (ITHO) under their recognized names..

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:37

If you wrote that Independent article then you need to go back to school, frankly. A blind hedgehog tied up in a plastic bag and thrown into a river could have come up with something better than that article! It didn't even attribute the right quotes to the right people!

Winehouse · 03/02/2009 14:41

Rhubarb, I didn't say that I wrote the article. I was trying to make a joke about writing one about the fact that the row is still going on.

VictorianSqualor · 03/02/2009 14:41

You really don't like hedgehogs do you Rhubarb?

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:43

she didn't write it Rhubarb.

although i must say that i can't imagine the journalist would've bust a gut to attribute the quotes to the correct IMAGINARY NAME.

BTW VS, if you were talking to me about normal names etc, i'm Aitch, like thready said further down. it's my new name... . and i'm neither a moldie nor a daughter of mediocrity.

posieflump · 03/02/2009 14:43

it doesn't matter that my eal name doesn't mean anything to you!! it matters that my real name is on this website, so a friend could dee that and then start guessing who I was on here. It's pretty obvious to me that people wouldn't want there real identies on here, with photos, whether you can work out there posting names or not!

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:43

Oh well then, I hope you manage to write a better one!
Shouldn't be too difficult.

Or you could volunteer to go on This Morning and say how much better your life is for joining Mumsnet!

Welcome btw!

pagwatch · 03/02/2009 14:43

Winehouse

I have only read a couple of messages from you andthey are all woefully sad about how beastly everyone is too each other.

This is mumsnet . You have had a look. Either enjoy it and stay. Or hate it and leave. But please can you stop with the woe is me , how mean you all are - because you clearly seem to be on the threads with the angst and the history so you are choosing to swim in that particular pool. IYSWIM

( i thought as we were talking about the Independent ariticle I would write really really badly as homage)

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:44

sorry posie... if people don't want their real names up on FB groups then they don't join them, surely? public domain is public domain. people should be A LOT more careful about using FB imo.

posieflump · 03/02/2009 14:45

not on facebook - on here!!!!!

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:45

Ah, hello Aitch.

There is another Mumsnet group on FB anyway and loads of ante-natal ones. They probably wouldn't want their real names discussed on here.

My real name is known to most - Esmerelda Fannyarseface

posieflump · 03/02/2009 14:46

thanks god I didn't join the main mumsnet facebook page then, I guess that's been linked ot on here loads

VictorianSqualor · 03/02/2009 14:47

Not you Aitch, you muppet.
'KerryMum1' and whoever 'wickedwitchofwestlife' is.

VictorianSqualor · 03/02/2009 14:48

Posie, I don't think I've ever seen the actual members page of the MN group linked on here. That would be against the whole 'closed group' thing then wouldn't it?

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:48

they can't legislate for where their names will be seen or discussed, from the minute they join FB. no point whinging about it. you even have to register that you DON'T want to be listed on google, for goodness sakes. it's not a private medium.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:49

Do they say who their Mumsnet names are?

I agree that people should be more careful with fb. I found my 10yr old niece on there, or rather she found me, and I was horrified to see her friends included men from Armenia and such places - her privacy settings were default and so everyone could see her posing in a shoulderless dress, in the bath with her younger brother, etc.

I don't think kids should be on there at all.

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:50

if you can link to the members list of a closed group (assuming that the person who started it - whoever that was... - has checked the settings), then that would be a serious hole in the programming.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:51

But many people don't realise that Aitch. Foolish yes, but fb shouldn't have public default settings.

Do you want to be called Aitch still or not?

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:51

no, they don't say who their mumsnet names are.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:52

On the Mumsnet fb site I mean, not the others.

MauriceDancer · 03/02/2009 14:52

dunno, i've been trying to limit my MN time rhubs, and having a new name is good cos i don't get so involved in convos iykwim? when i get more time i'll change back probably.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 14:54

Hmm, I've been off for a good few weeks too. I could change but I've had this name for years so don't really want to.
I thought your posts on the Rev thread were very good btw.
