but I would be grateful if you could tell me that you have at least given serious consideration to banning the posters who were harrassing her.

Thank you.

"we don't tolerate any unnecessarily abusive postings and would certainly ban anyone who was persistently doing this of kind of thing."

So the fact that a couple of posters have only posted on rev threads this year and then been quite strident on all of them doesn't fit that?

LadyMuck · 20/01/2009 22:12

allnewcontrolfreaky has beat me to it. Though given that rev will have exactly the same role as she had before today (and one which could have been assumed by anyone else if they had been bothered) could MNHQ clarify what is and is not allowed in a name? There are posters with dr or teacher in their name. There is a post earlier todays from someone on the lines of WestMidsAccounts giving tax advice. Shall we start reporting all of them so as you can start checking all of their credentials?

allnewcontrolfreaky · 20/01/2009 22:12

sings kumbayah (?sp?) by mp's candle...

NotRubberAndNotADuck · 20/01/2009 22:12

No sorry, Justine. I have to agree with the Lost the Plot conclusion.

I look forward to you asking all the other relevant mumsnetters to amend their names (or put disclaimers in) to avoid any doubt of "expertise" or "officialness" while not even giving the bullies so much as a smacked wrist behind the scenes.

Couldn't give a toss about the whole Moldies/not Moldies scenario. I do give a toss about such blatant unfairness with all the emphasis on the victim to change their behaviour.

...... and another thing as i ranted on those mouldiegate threads, what i really hate are those posters who wade in on here like old hands (and often state they are such) who are namechanging mouldies who havent the balls manners to retain thier old posting names...... are you new "wartybosoms"?? (by way of example)

HerIllustriousEminenceOnebat · 20/01/2009 22:17

Oh, balls. Still v disappointed here.

I hear the 'subtle' bits, but still think you've abrogated your responsibility.

"we don't tolerate any unnecessarily abusive postings and would certainly ban anyone who was persistently doing this of kind of thing."

Well Enid has admitted RECKLESSLY (ie. she had no idea whether she was right or not) accusing the Rev of
a. lying about her professional credentials
b. lying about whether she had relatives who were murdered in the holocaust
c. lying about the existence of her husband.

This is the second time that she's attacked the Rev along the same lines.

Why - why- aren't you banning her?

I'm sorry Justine - this isn't right.

MrJustAbout · 20/01/2009 22:19

re: questioning credentials.

I can't quite stop myself from lurking

I think it's a good thing that people asked mumsnet about justabout's credentials - those that did it quietly, and sensibly, at least. MNHQ can't appoint "experts" and whilst I don't think the "rev" prefix was doing any harm, it's ended up being a distraction as much as anything.

Let's not get too far away from one fact in seeking to protect/support justabout. There are a lot of vulnerable people on this forum and the last thing that's needed is people swanning in taking advantage of them. Justabout has not done this, but that's not to say that someone else might not. Mumsnet were completely within their rights to request information, and more to the point, were correct too.

That my wife is legit does not mean that the next person is not a dangerous nutter ...

bundle · 20/01/2009 22:21

mrjustabout

lurking is where you don't post

dizzydixies · 20/01/2009 22:21

am I the dangerous nutter seeing as I posted next

could be - I shall take care to watch out for myself more

well said though MrJustAbout

controlfreakyofmanyskills · 20/01/2009 22:22

does this suit me?

dizzydixies · 20/01/2009 22:22

ah sod bundle - you got there before me

so are you the dangerous nutter?!?

DetectiveInspectorLittleBella · 20/01/2009 22:22

Very good post by Justine.

This is my favourite bit:

"It is very clear is that the sudden appearance of a group of known Moldie Members on a MN thread, particularly if they've not been around much and have a common strong opinion will always be liable to make folks suspicious that it's at best something that's been pre-discussed on Moldiesand at worst an orchestrated attack. This is a natural consequence of some Mumsnetters being known to use another closed board and something that folk should bear in mind if they are keen to avoid ill-feeling/ further upset."
