but I would be grateful if you could tell me that you have at least given serious consideration to banning the posters who were harrassing her.

Thank you.

I have now stopped roasting and am feeling more theological.

FioFio - Isn't it a bit odd to be FioFio for Moldies defence issues and someone else for other times. Unless of course you are posting about your farting fanny.

TotalChaos · 20/01/2009 16:19

agree with St. George. There are supposedly 100+ mouldies. And last time I counted PPH + enid + bubble only make 3. And I haven't a clue whether bubble is mouldie or not. Hardly a mouldie conspiracy.

daftpunk · 20/01/2009 16:19

yes but fiofio...we didn't all fuck off to a new site did we? all moldies should stay on that new site for the good of everyone....it will never work you comimg back...i was talking with someone a few days ago...got 3 emails asking me wtf i was doing talking to a known moldie?

WilfSell · 20/01/2009 16:19

fiofio, the 'collective behaviour' on these threads is responding to some fairly serious provocation. And from what I can tell of this latest explosion, the provocation is some spirited defence of someone who has a lot of credibility, who many posters here have had personal contact with, who isn't doing anything wrong, who may or may not have had some unwanted and unpleasant RL contact, who MNHQ have defended to some extent (though some would like stronger defence) and who have been subject to considerable attacks by particular posters.

I don't think this spirited collective defence is at all 'gang like'.

onebatmother · 20/01/2009 16:20

Fio, you are mistaken. If three Moldies undertake what very much appears to be concerted attempt to undermine one entirely unobjectionable MN poster, then it's rather illogical to complain that they are being bullied when they are heavily criticized for doing so.

You might also reasonably expect there to be some collateral criticism of the private site whence these posters descended. Since it is private.

I hope this doesn't become a moldies vs mn thing. It's about one person in particular coming onto MN to make repeated personal attacks on someone's integrity in the middle of an interesting discussion thread.

I am very annoyed that the result of this seems to have been that the person who was attacked has been forced to prove their identity, and that it has impacted their RL with person/s unknown making enquiries about them, and that the person who made the attacks has popped back to the protection of a private forum.

I comletely agree that "I wish that they had had the courage to post a short message saying that the rev is a rev in real life, that she has every right to call herself so, that any further attempts to disrupt her REAL FAMILY LIFE would result in instant banning (and all info held by MNHQ being happily handed over to the police in the event of a police investigation.)"

lucykate · 20/01/2009 16:23

i've had my first message deleted by mumsnet

wasn't even that bad a post from what i can remember

time to leave me thinks, mn is imploding

TotalChaos · 20/01/2009 16:24

eh? I'm not on moldies Dittany. And given there were 2 or possibly 3 moldies involved on the thread, I don't see why any decision to back each other up was assumed to have been done via moldies rather than e-mail or msn.

CreativeZen · 20/01/2009 16:25

Bloody hell! Do you mean to say that, if I choose to post on anotehr site and it turns out that others here also post on that site, we can't also post here because we have betrayed some sort of Mn exclusivity?? It doesn't matter whether the other site is private (which I now udnrstand the moldies site is) or open to anyone, or by invitation only.

I can see why fiofio changes her name if she is known to post on the moldies site. You all seem to become some sort of baying packhounds as soon as a moldie posts anything remotely challenging. You're nuts.

I shall hang around for a bit to see if you all come to your senses, but I suspect not.

daftpunk, really . I'm amazed anyone would care that much.

VinegarTits · 20/01/2009 16:27

Oh who cares if there were 3 or 30, the Rev was called a blatant lair, and someone wrote to MNHQ questioning her credentials and now she has had to prove who she is to MNHQ and namechange, and all because of what? because they dont like her? because she likes to buy her knickers from M&S? who knows

But saying there where only 3 of them doesnt sugar coat their nastiness. they didnt even have a fairly good excuse to doubt her, they just felt like attacking her, and they havent even got the decency to make a proper apology.

MrEniddo · 20/01/2009 16:28

Can I just reiterate (and mumsnet could back me up if they chose to as legal action is now being discussed here) that I posted on the original thread, was honest about my reasons for posting and have apologised.

I have made no contact with MNHQ over this matter, have not been contacted by MNHQ about this and have made no attempt to research the Rev's life or made any attempt to contact her or look into her real life in any way.

Lizzylou · 20/01/2009 16:28

that people sent you emails asking why you were "talking" to a Moldie

That is just ludicrous

MrEniddo · 20/01/2009 16:30

Yes it does seem to mean that CreativeZen (who to my knowledge is not a Moldie btw)

Rhubarb · 20/01/2009 16:31

I think the Moldies thing stems from the Rev's OP on the other thread, which asks if a Moldie member could post her OP on the Moldies site. Presumably so Bubble, PPH and Enid could see it? Or because there was a link from Mouldies to the thread on Mumsnet?

I think we should have a Paranoid Corner on Mumsnet - what do others think?

pagwatch · 20/01/2009 16:31

daftpunk.
Blimey that is odd - that people would care that you talk to moldies.
I am actually relieved I don't have a clue who most of them are so that such a thing would never occur to me.
How

It is good to be a twat sometimes.

( how are ya DP )

I didnt even see the other bloody thread.

Honestly, Moldies is not a big deal. we are a bunch of boring older women who discuss chilblains and private schools. We are not Mossad agents. I cannot believe so many people feel so threatened by it.
