but I would be grateful if you could tell me that you have at least given serious consideration to banning the posters who were harrassing her.

Thank you.

Jesus, Enid. Your attitude is revolting.

If, as you admit, have no idea whether people are or arne't whom they claim to be, why could you POSSIBLY feel justified in accusing them?

"I didn't believe she had family in the holocaust. I thought she was using that as a way of strengthening her argument." And you don't see that unless you have proof, this is a VERY serious accusation to make recklessly? PPH was attempting to throw her legal weight around earlier - I wonder whether she could advise - was the Rev slandered/libelled?

Even someone who has had little or no interaction with culture over the last half of the 20th century should be aware that the loss of relatives in Auschwitz/elsewhere during the HOlocaust is generally considered to be a Big Deal. They don\t need to be your actual Mum or Dad for it to have damaged your family - d'you see?

And the fact that you accuse the Rev of 'band-wagon jumping' on the MOldie threads only shows that you have no idea how much the principle of the thing angered many moderate people, whether or not they had friends there (which I believe she does iirc).

onebatmother · 20/01/2009 15:56

Can I also repeat what many others have said - that I am extremely disappointed that MNHQ appear to be responding to this with such moral cowardice.

They haven't yet corrected their assertion that she is 'not a reverend, she's a deacon' have they? Which implies that the Rev has been posting under false pretenses.

I wish that they had had the courage to post a short message saying that the rev is a rev in real life, that she has every right to call herself so, that any further attempts to disrupt her REAL FAMILY LIFE would result in instant banning (and all info held by MNHQ being happily handed over to the police in the event of a police investigation.)

Monkeytrousers · 20/01/2009 15:58

If that was the case, its better form to say that you don't appreciate arguments that attempt to influcnce from such blatant emotionalism. You don't call the person a fraud. FFS.

Onebat - I am not a monkey, and you are not a bat in any number. We are not frauds. Rev has a perfect right to call her self what she wants. If she chooses to ajust the details a little in order to protect her anonymity, then that is her perogative.

I don;t know why MN would have even risen to the bait.

combustiblelemon · 20/01/2009 16:01

All posters are created equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Firepile · 20/01/2009 16:02

I'm with Onebat, too. And Mrs Ruffallo who made a similar (and witty) point among similar lines earlier.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 20/01/2009 16:06

How strange that moldies don't discuss mumsnet yet all come here in gangs and cause rows.

Why not just fuck the fuck off entirely?

tootiredtothink · 20/01/2009 16:08

Well said onebat - and you too TDWP.

Lauriefairycake · 20/01/2009 16:08

shhhh TWDP - they don't come in gangs and they take offence if you say that.

We're all positive it was entirely coincidental

pagwatch · 20/01/2009 16:09

ROLF at fuck the fuck off.
May I use that DWP

SaintGeorge · 20/01/2009 16:09

3 people does not a gang make.

Please stop tarring everybody with the same brush.

pagwatch · 20/01/2009 16:10

farkin Nora - why do I always ROLF instead of ROFLing.
God I'm a twat

Piffle · 20/01/2009 16:10

In have been involved in all the Gaza threads and they might have been the only threads I was involved in over that time on here. I however was not there when it kicked off.
Thankfully.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 20/01/2009 16:11

You may, and for special occasions there's fuck the fucking fuck off

Monkeytrousers · 20/01/2009 16:11

lol pagwatch

Can we just post this every 5 or so posts on every thread about this matter.

It seems to be the most sensible thing said anywhere about it.

If a Deacon cannot call themselves "revsomething", then presumably its offlimits for anyone to have a canonical name and they will now all be banned. Presumably its even worse for a non-vicar to be holding themselves out to be one?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 20/01/2009 16:12

Actually ROLF is pretty good, I'll join you in using it.

amber32002 · 20/01/2009 16:12

I'd like to say that I'm not a strange orange colour nor a piece of ancient tree sap. But Rev really is a real Rev. That's what a Deacon is.

Piffle · 20/01/2009 16:12

Why do you post under a different name?

georgimama · 20/01/2009 16:14

I've read the thread in full now, or as full as it is possible to do with all the deletions.

I haven't accused any particular poster of anything. I certainly have zero interest in whether anyone involved is or is not a Moldie. In fact it never occurred to me that this was a Moldie issue. Should have known I suppose.

My only point was that I would like to know (as KerryMum says particularly baring in mind the hoo haa over Cod's real life troubles) that if any posters on this thread have been involved in real life harrassment of another poster, they will not continue to enjoy the liberty of posting on this site.

I entirely accept Justine's point that it would have been better if I had emailed her rather than starting a thread.

But at least it gave Aitch an opportunity to have a go at me as usual.
