If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies [part 2]

This thread is a continuation of this one. That one had become too big for its own boots the system to handle.

I haven't read much of this Moldie stuff, but I get the jist. I recognised a couple of names and then realised why...

I remember posting one thread on AIBU (which I'd never ever posted on before, having stuck solely to SN as that's all I can usually talk about and am interested in, about my feelings about a news story. OK, I now realise that it was frowned upon to talk about said topic (but didn't at the time), BUT the response I got from a certain number of posters was bizarre, high-school style ganging up and pack mentality fuck off- we -don't-do-this-here-don't-you-know-the-rules? (which I didn't) and this moldy thing makes a whole lot of sense now!

Personally, I'd rather that the people who would gang up and swoop down on a new person to a board (like I was) for something ill-judged rather than evil, like they did with the whole 'heard this all before' thing, go somewhere else so that the rules for them ARE written and they don't spend time berating people for breaking unwritten rules that they have just made up because they think they rule the school boards.

But it's a shame that people got upset by it.

ROFL. i've just found what rhubarb wrote in wikipedia (found it in history), very funny.

sorry about whatever that person wrote next. i take it no-one admitted to that.

Quattrocento · 01/01/2009 22:51

"the response I got from a certain number of posters was bizarre, high-school style ganging up and pack mentality fuck off- we -don't-do-this-here-don't-you-know-the-rules? (which I didn't)"

Did that happen to you as well? Gawd, talk about baptism of fire ... first day of MN ... and that happened to me as well. Loud shouts of "troll" thrown in as well (the loudest from someone who was subsequently banned as a troll, somewhat ironically).

Strangely enough, I've never forgotten that experience, nor the people (none Moldies, one of which was Xenia) who were absolutely lovely at the time.

NotanOtter · 01/01/2009 22:51

sophable i heart you and always will 'moldie' or not!

controlfreakyhohohohohohoho · 01/01/2009 22:54

serious ?

why ARE all you mouldies on THIS thread?
the title is "if you {still} feel the need to discuss mouldies..."

is that you VVVQ / hunker (aka rubiks) / qs / lockets / aitch?

no, really is it? what would you like you discuss re mouldies? i dont get it.

Aitch · 01/01/2009 22:54

WHO wrote that about peachy on wiki? was it a joke by herself? i bloody hope so.

daisy5678 · 01/01/2009 22:55

Quattrocento, yes, got called a troll and a name-changer, though a brief search would have revealed that I was not new to MN, but an AIBU virgin, having only ever posted on SN previously.

NorthernLurker · 01/01/2009 22:55

Ladies - are you all drunk? If not - why not?

Tis a New Year - frolic a little

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 01/01/2009 22:55

Oh Aitch please cut and past teh old wiki thing..

Aitch · 01/01/2009 22:58

i don't really get why you're still so exercised about it, controlfreaky, but i came on because i was catching up with the day's events and noticed that custardo had forgotten something. if the thread has evolved out of discssing moldiesm(and i'm not sure it has tbh), then that would be a blessing and quite in keeping with the norm on MN.

and i am still an MNer and hopefully that's not going to change. when dd2 was born prematurely this place kept me going, i'm not going to abandon that, i feel a burden of responsibility to pass that on in the future, i really do.

Aitch · 01/01/2009 22:59

why, have you not seen it? rhubarb's bit is great, the rest is .

NotanOtter · 01/01/2009 22:59

it just feels odd for me personally - moldies on here ...

Heathcliffscathy · 01/01/2009 23:00

daddyj ok. is it still thursdays. the thing is you two don't arrive until VERY LATE for a small creature like me. i shall come though. when is the next one? next thurs?

notanot me too.

why, though? i don't feel odd about that facebook group. why can't everyone just get along? the vetoing thing i had HUGE problems with but that's done now... all this is is people blethering somewhere else. just like FB, like email, it really needn't be a biggie.

NorthernLurker · 01/01/2009 23:02

I've been entertaining relatives all day so just come to this now. Really haven't time to wallow my way through the whole thread but things seem to me to have an air of Getting Out of Hand...? It's 11 o'clock UK time - maybe time for everyone to go to bed and rest?

I can't see anything beyond the most basic history..

NotanOtter · 01/01/2009 23:05

now thats not fair

controlfreakyhohohohohohoho · 01/01/2009 23:06

oh aitch. read that back please... "burden of responsibility"? really?

you havent answered my ? though.... of course you can post on here... and there... and everywhere you like. but why post on here when this PARTICULAR thread is for those who "(still) feel the need to discuss mouldies".

presumably because as you say ... you dont get why some of us (i dont think i am the only one) are "so exercised"??

evaangel · 01/01/2009 23:07

troll
that rang a bell to me too, I was called a troll cause of my opinions

I regularly name change to protect my identity, I have placed some real personal stuff on here and would not like the idea of rl recognising me, so I dont do meet ups, post photo etc

I use MN as a support network, if I can help I will post, if I cant then I wont post

thats me!
