This thread is a continuation of this one. That one had become too big for its own boots the system to handle.

huns and royalty points How disgusting yet weirdly ironic at the same time.

Am glad Moldies has been created now (wish they could have done it without insulting and upsetting so many though), because that dreadful attitude has been taken elsewhere.

Aitch, sorry, only just read your post asking if I was 3andnomore....and indeed I used to be 3andnomore...the reason I namechanged is not because I am having another Baby (shudder at the thought of it), lol, but because people kept calling me 3andmore and I felt that may jinx me and tbh, I was just bored with my id...and then there is that whole people that use numbers in their id are just uninspired thing ...! Now I often get called FairLady, which is just wonderful ....well, when I was wearing my X-mas name I was being called Slut, but that was my own fault, lol!

My, possibly mostly uninspired idea for Custardos and Chipmonkeys seperate Board is Mumsnet chips and custard ...

bbbeee fair enough, am glad your feelings are not hurt. lots of others were though
flight i never set foot on mouldies, am not one, will not join, would not have joined, the person who nominated me rightly felt that once i knew the process, i would not have joined. and TBH , i would not have joined anyway, I love MN, have got lots of good friends here, have had clients from here! i love the camaraderie and i have friends in RL i can discuss things that i wish to remain private. I have never used MN as a place to discuss anything 'deep', as it were.
I have no problem with Mouldies per se, although some of the digs at MN not being the same, and beong mediocre were not that helpful, but there has been mud slinging and insults from both sides. I thought the secrecy, whether it was quickly got rid of or not, was really quite indefensible, as MP has so eloquently been arguing about .

Good suggestion sinkingfast. Sadly i have that sinking feelling too just now. I woke up and thought i'd check if anyone had acknowledged my post this thread had moved on to talking about the more interesting tittle tattle that i find quite fun. I was going to have a massive fry up bowl of muesli, but i've lost my appetite for now.

I was chatting to a friend of mine at work about the whole moldie debate (she'd seen it in the papers)
She had appeared on T&S and had made a comment which was taken out of context and she received hate mail afterwards, because people didn't know the full context of her comment, and she could never put them right.
Which made me think that the whole moldie debate will run and run, but no matter what, the moldie site is never going to be in context for everybody, there will always be a cloak and dagger theme surrounding it.

I'd laugh so much to see Avatars on Mumsnet.
And tickers.

TBH, I just feel sad about it - there are plenty of posters whose posts I've been missing - I've even put out a couple of "where are xxx?" threads. I'm the same as LoneStranger - I namechange regularly because I value my anonymity, so am never going to be recognised or invited to Moldies. But against the sadness, I have an increasing level of shudderiness about the whole concept - it was always going to go horribly wrong. The whole thing makes me feel a bit bleurgh really.

I want one that says 'I practically live here'.

Apparently they have sniff and scratch - the more popular poasters emit smells like chanel 5 and the lower ones smell like jordan's own.

Lulu - I reqad this and often think there is nothing more I can add, but can I just say (as I have before) that I was nominated for moldies and vetoed.

I did not feel that I had been deemed not worthy - I just thought that people didn't recognise me or something.

So, if you want to know how it felt - it was kind of like that really - kind of 'oh well'.

I only speak for myself mind.

Thanks for that Tiggiwinkle. I feel really strongly about all this. I have to also say that while some are upset about not getting an invite, such of us are upset because were are plainly not 'inviteable'.

i dont care if the place is crap, that's not the point. even if it is, my sentiments would still be the same.

The 'royalty' and 'huns' thing was for, errrr Fun. So may i ask what happened with that info? was there possibly a leter discussion that went "Think we might have made a mistake inviting this one." I assume that a 'close eye' would be kept of the member who invited someone who receives so many 'huns' and any further suggestions for further invitees looked at 'carefully'?

Y'know, I think that this is a really good example of something that looks really easy but is in fact nightmarishly difficult. Running a forum looks like a piece of pss - anyone could do it, no? But Justine, Carrie et al have built up a wealth of experience and are very rarely caught out or deal with a situation in the wrong way (IMO, from observations over the years). Moldies seems from start to finish, a really good example of how not* to run a forum tbh. They would have been far better off discussing with MNHQ a way for MN to provide what they wanted but still under the MN banner tbh.

"taking the "top 150 most popular" Mumsnetters across to the new board"
MP, where was it said that this was what was happening?
Don't put it in quotes, like it was the stated aim of the board fgs when it was not.

Hunker you seem so angry with me, and I don't know why.

It wasn't my intention to suggest that was the aim of the board. But reading the membership list, that was what it looked like. It didn't sit comfortably at all.

Would you trust someone to know exactly how a group of more than 100 people thought in a day?

I've already said a zillion times that I KNOW people's intentions were good, but the execution was cack.
