fourlittlefeet, MNHQ have responded to a complaint about the thread, I presume to the complaint by CvQ, and pulled it to avoid causing further upset. I expect. Perhaps one of MNHQ would like to comment?

piratecat · 01/10/2008 23:28

no , i see what you mean soapbox. Anyone can join, and be who they want to be.

expatinscotland · 01/10/2008 23:29

so the other thread is gone?

see what i get for doing RL stuff!

LyraSilvertongue · 01/10/2008 23:29

Who was/is TWR?

electra · 01/10/2008 23:29

What has happened?

Is this the biggest troll outing since Wig & Robe that I have missed?

NotAnOtter · 01/10/2008 23:30

tbh there are just toooooooooooooooooo many initials on here for even an old timer like me

TWR???

hunkermunker · 01/10/2008 23:30

TW, I dunno - who knows who any of us is really.

MNHQ can "know" that someone's using the same computer as another poster from IP address, but if you have a laptop and a PC both connected and post as a separate poster from each - would that show up?

I don't know re CVQ - I do know that posting scads and scads on MN to the exclusion of doing anything in RL doesn't help long-term, so maybe this will be the boost into RL proper that she needs?

FAQ · 01/10/2008 23:31

HM.........what happened to our meet-up in the holidays

BoysAreLikeDogs · 01/10/2008 23:32

TWR = TheWiltedRose

psychomum5 · 01/10/2008 23:33

don;t blame flame for this please

I stand by what I said

flame does too

she saw me hurt

and CVQ was the person that hurt me

so flame is being as a best friend should, supporting me!

expatinscotland · 01/10/2008 23:35

oh, hey now!

flame just gave out what everyone pestered her for!

it's not her fault.

people assured her she wouldn't get in trouble for it.

thumbwitch · 01/10/2008 23:36

psychomum I do feel for you, I really do but CvQ is now really hurting too and feels she has lost the support of MN that has seen her through some really rough patches.

I don't think any good has come of this.

expatinscotland · 01/10/2008 23:37

she wasn't the only one, ditt. someone else also thought another person was a troll.

the thread exploded.

it's been pulled and that other horrible one, too.

NappiesGalore · 01/10/2008 23:40

flame wasnt the only parson to say they thought that tho. and actually, i have my doubts too.
not saying anyone ought to get hurt, but i reckon that might be out of our control, no?

RTKangaMummy · 01/10/2008 23:41

Please could someone please give a brief explanation of ewaht has happened here tonight?

Using names rather than initials cos it is late and I am tired to think

psychomum5 · 01/10/2008 23:42

I know CvQ is hurting, I do (well, am not talking to her right at this second but I can certainly get that she is IYGWIM), but the problem is that she is clearly in need of more support than I could give without losing part of myself, which is where was it was heading.

flame did no more than mention a name that she is concerned about.

at no point did she shout troll

it was on a thread talking about EC being a troll

posting styles were similar

2 and 2 got added together and made something else, but it was not without a whisper of suspicion.

not least because she saw how much I invested and then lost.

do not blame flame for this please, this is not her fault!!!

expatinscotland · 01/10/2008 23:43

too right, NG.

she wasn't alone and again, others were named, hence the thread was deleted.

thumbwitch · 01/10/2008 23:43

all I can say is that MNHQ have been supportive to CvQ so they believe that she is not a troll.
No, I don't suppose they do know for certain whether or not someone is a troll but I am sure they feel that this is a support site and that thread was far from it.

onebatmother · 01/10/2008 23:44

PSM5 what a horrid position you are in. Sorry. I do worry whether that thread (about ec) the right place to voice those concerns about Cvq though.
I think that in the kind of situation you describe, withdrawal is probably the only option.

Soapbox · 01/10/2008 23:45

I think you might need to spell it out for me Phsycho, because I just am not getting it.

You (I presume willingly) got involved in helping CvQ and you got into it more than you felt comfortable with? She then said something that affected you, so you felt you had to withdraw your support from her? What part of that led to CvQ being exposed as a potential troll? I just cannot see the linkage between your getting too involved and someone else being a troll?

thumbwitch · 01/10/2008 23:45

well, quite. The association of CvQ with a thread about a troll was a bit unfortunate to say the least.

Soapbox · 01/10/2008 23:46

Oh it was more than just connection - there was a clear implication that CvQ was 'not for real' in the initial posting by Flame.
