I am not blonde

though no-one on here knows who Effie Perine is you uncultured louts

Communion · 07/08/2008 15:55

I lied once (on MN, obviously I lie all the time in RL or I'd be a social paraiah). To get opinions on something indirectly.

What the hell, we're already all disguising ourselves, I think half the fun of MN can be creating a new MN persona.

I resolve to lie more on MN.

i have no idea. tell me what i've saud and i'll tell you if it was a lie?
just use MN to randomly waffle although am probably too honest and could be recognised by anyone who knows me and now am getting paranoid as don't want to be spotted in cased i'v said anything embarrasing or controversial.

OracleInaCoracle · 07/08/2008 16:03

i dont think ive lied on mn, but i have changed my mind an awful lot. ive gone from a ffing zealot who SMA could have put on the payroll toa nutter who will preach to every pg woman i meet about the evils of ff. i also change my mind about ttc on a weekly basis

BlueDragonfly · 07/08/2008 16:08

no but i know of a few long term trollers though. or suspect them in any case. (no i will not name)

filthymindedvixen · 07/08/2008 16:11

I don't lie on MN. I haven't worked out yet that you lot can't see me blushing or having fingers crossed behind my back

(Except about the amount of fruit nd veg I consume. I don't eat any.)

wannaBe · 07/08/2008 16:11

I think there are people who have more than one mn user name/persona.

I reported a thread the other day for suspected trolling (which had become quite nasty/heated) and mn hq came back and said they were watching as it was a regular poster who made frequent namechanges to post troll-type threads.

I often wonder when we get trolls who they really are. Because I do think that most trolls are regulars rather than first-time posters.

CountessDracula · 07/08/2008 16:12

I don't even exist in RL
that is how good a liar I am

CountessDracula · 07/08/2008 16:13

Oh I did once say Cod was nice in RL which is clearly mendacious
But I figured no-one would believe me anyway

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 07/08/2008 16:14

I am a terrible liar so definately wouldn't do so on here.

filthymindedvixen · 07/08/2008 16:15

oh I have 2 regular personas but everyone knows it's me. And one more for when I don't want people to know who I am. Which most people know is me

And one more for when I really want to contribute something personal.

But that ain't lying, just self-preservation.

TheLadyofShalott · 07/08/2008 16:15

If I'm answering a one of those 'Have your DCs ever done this threads?'I often can't remember whether it was DD or DS who, for example, ate a crane-fly, but it seems daft to keep saying so, so I might well have been inconsistent on different threads.

theSuburbanDryad · 07/08/2008 16:18

CD - i've met you! Does that mean i'm a liar too?!

I don't really live in a tree (wish I did though - that'd be cool).

CountessDracula · 07/08/2008 16:22

No that was my sister

theSuburbanDryad · 07/08/2008 16:23

Ah yes - that would explain it.

CountessDracula · 07/08/2008 16:24

my fat sister may I add

Piffle · 07/08/2008 16:30

in selling fgs
someone could not afford to refund me for £10 worth of shitty stained ripped clothes
yet sells end on end and buys end on end of luxury prams...
I mean ok I kinda (not quite but) understand buying a different pram a few times.
but buy one sell one then buy the same back

smells of scam

Why on earth would someone lie about their purchases?

More to the point how would you catch them out?

muggglewump · 07/08/2008 16:41

I lied on here once, I said I'd booked a hotel when I hadn't.
I was going to book it the following Monday but ended up not having the mony. We will no longer be going to London for DD's birthday but I do have 2 Megabus seats that I can offer for free now!

On the other parenting forum I use I've seen a few lies, I always pull them up on it, the squirming and backtracking is quite amusing

EffiePerine · 07/08/2008 16:41

ahem

PixelHerder · 07/08/2008 16:52

I reckon there must be a fair few fantasists (or perhaps frustrated fiction writers, to be generous) who have created fake personas, right down to photos on their profile etc. It must be quite easy to create different MN accounts with different email addresses etc.

I don't have the energy or imagination to make things up myself though, I really AM this dull

FabioFridgeFluffFrenzy · 07/08/2008 17:00

Pixel you'd have to be nuts to do that though.
