While we wait with bated breath for the results of our work/life balance survey we thought we'd tap you for your top tips on how you make family life work, in terms of work/life balance, family time, sharing responsibilities for children/ house /money etc

How do you make the parenting partnership (great phrase eh? ) work in your house?

If you're going / have just gone through something tough and have been talking about it lots on MN, have a search through your posts and cut&paste them into a Word Doc. It's not only a really interesting timecapsule for the future, it's also something your OH can read and maybe understand you better.

never skimp on bedtimes with the kids - even if things are running late or whatever we always try to read both dds a story and have a bit of chat time before bed to help wind them down.

Listen to what your dh says. Listen very carefully. Nod a lot. Smile. Nod some more.

Then do what you wanted to do in the first place.

RtP that's exactly how we chose the area in which we live and the house and the holidays etc !!!

LOL They really think you haven't already thought of it, analysed and rejected the idea, don't they? It is mean to deflate their big new idea outright.
