Mumsnet shutting down Amazon music if I open a thread.

I’ve contacted HQ via email but none of the suggestions have worked so I thought I’d ask here in the hope someone has experience of how to fix this.

This morning I was listening to music as normal on Amazon music and opened mumsnet to read threads. My music stopped. I thought it was a blip but it’s refused to work all day if mumsnet threads are open.
I’ve deleted and reinstalled both Amazon music and mumsnet apps. I’ve turned it off and back on again. Force closed. Cleared the cache. No VPN. Both apps updated.

I’m on iPhone and running iOS 26.3.1(a).

Has anybody experienced this and know how to fix it please?

I have turned autoplay off and it still happens.

How can you focus on reading stuff on Mumsnet if there's music playing at the same time?! 🤯

ICouldButIWouldNot · 29/04/2026 17:11

I am literally just getting this now whilst sat in my car listening to Apple Music and trying to look at Mumsnet, so frustrating! I thought was me 🤣

Nothing suggested is working. The problem appears to be the ads within mumsnet.

I have this too, the adverts causing Spotify to cut out, incredibly annoying and the only site it happens with for me.

I have ADHD and my brain needs ALL the stimulation! Music is the soundtrack to my day. I’ll be listening to a song but have another one going round my head, having a conversation with someone in my head, having a conversation with myself about what I need to do that day, flipping between mumsnet and Facebook and the Lego app and walking at speed to get where I’m going. I’m now on ADHD meds that have reduced the amount of songs and conversations but it’s still very busy in there.

It’ll be to do with the phone thinking adverts have sounds. Have you tried using the website instead of app?

Analo · Yesterday 10:39

The website is the same issue, I don’t use the app, but have the same issue on the browser version.

Hi everyone. Could we ask for a bit more information about the ads you think are causing this? A description or screen grab/recording would be really useful. Thanks.

littlemousebigcheese · Yesterday 10:42

Does it with Spotify! Really annoying!

UncomfortableSilence · Yesterday 10:53

It happens to me too when using Amazon music, it’s so frustrating I usually have a scroll on Mumsnet before bed but have my sleep music on too, don’t ask sleep issues, and I can no longer use Mumsnet for this reason.

I’ve just turned it on now and clicked on a couple of threads and done a screenshot.

A recording might be the best way to illustrate the issue. What’s the best way to send recordings to you?

RockaLock · Yesterday 19:37

It’s literally every time I open any thread, as soon as I open a thread.

It’s only just started happening in the last few days, but it is intensely irritating and has meant that I spend much less time mumsnetting.

Which is actually a good thing, so maybe I should be thanking you for making the app a worse experience.

DalmationalAnthem · Yesterday 19:42

Does it happen on the normal website on your phone? I don't know why anyone uses the app.

Catsandcats · Yesterday 23:00

It’s a lot of adverts - sometimes it’s every 20 seconds or so. It’s making Mumsnet really frustrating to use, especially to read while lying with my child while he goes to sleep with his bedtime songs on because it’s stopping so frequently. These are just a few in the last 2 minutes or so.
