We’re mostly women here, and it’s not like there might be any children walking past is it? You’ll let me post it, right? It’s a very sexy photo 🥵🥵🥵.

If the answer is no, can I ask why? Because that’s what you’re allowing to be on everyone’s screen through your absolute refusal to do anything about the Anne Summers adverts people have been complaining about since 14th December (or maybe earlier than that, I don’t know).

Shall I screenshot it, and someone can approve the photo?

Or (crazy idea) will you do something about the advert?

Premium sounds like a good idea until you remember the data breach that has already happened and I personally do not have the confidence that it could not happen again, and would link all my posts with my rl name and address (through my payment method).

I used a prepaid debit card to set mine up and might 😏 have given someone else's address.

God this

Im sick of seeing everything measured by 'price of a coffee' to show how cheap something is or how much someone has saved

I dont drink takeaway coffees and very very very rarely go out for a coffee.

We do if we're on holiday but day to day I dont tend to buy drinks or food out unless Ive got a timescale/outing problem where Im stuck without a hot drink/food

Same here. I've never had a takeaway coffee in my life.

I'm ND.
What's your excuse?

I'm autistic. Nine-tenths of autistic women are sexual assault victims. Putting women's lingerie-clad arses in the middle of the ND support board is tone-deaf, to say the least.

MNHQ don't store or process any financial or payment data themselves, it's handled by a third-party called Stripe.

And, if you use a prepaid card, like a Post Office travel card, Stripe have no way of knowing that Ann Onamouse doesn't exist and certainly doesn't live in a warehouse on an industrial estate in Bradford.

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 28/12/2025 15:21

Mochudubh · 28/12/2025 13:26

Yesterday I tried to post a picture of a woman wearing nothing but a red bow on the thread about tacky door bows (that's what door bows make me think of) and the image is still waiting approval but we get bombarded by these ads day in and day out.

I think I know the bow you mean: goes over one shoulder, covers the breasts and vulva, intended for the man to untie as if was unwrapping a present?

That's fundamentally what 100% of Ann Summers lingerie is: gift-wrapping women's bodies in strips of uncomfortable polyester lace to pander to the male gaze. If wearing it makes you feel good, it's because you've internalised the male gaze. Lesbians very rarely wear stuff like that.

Thank you, very interesting idea!

I'm still seeing these chuffing naked arse cheeks. @MNHQ please make it stop

BeckyAMumsnet · 29/12/2025 09:31

Hello, everyone. Thanks for posting. We're looking into these ads today and will report back ASAP. We've blocked similar ads in the past but when this happens, the ad is blocked at the level of that particular creative. Advertisers often upload multiple near-identical versions, which means something that looks the same can reappear until it’s flagged again.

Lingerie advertising in itself isn’t inappropriate for Mumsnet. We do block ads that show nudity or explicit sexual content, but models wearing lingerie whether the racier kind or the more industrial type, fall within what we allow on the site.

We also can’t reliably see the same ads you see. Ads served programmatically vary by device, browser, location and timing, so asking for a URL, advertiser name or screenshot is genuinely the quickest way for us to identify and deal with a specific ad.

If you see an ad that you think doesn't belong here, please report it with whatever identifying detail you can. If you'd rather not post on the boards, then please email us at [email protected]

To answer a few queries about Mumsnet Premium - MNHQ doesn’t store or process card details itself. All payments are handled securely by Stripe, a third-party payment provider used by many large organisations. Card details are never visible to MNHQ staff, and access to Stripe within Mumsnet is tightly restricted to a very small number of authorised roles for operational purposes only. Premium subscriptions aren’t linked to what you post on the site, and paying for Premium doesn’t give staff access to any additional personal or financial information about you.

Any further questions, please post here and we'll get to you as soon as we can. Thanks.

PuppyMonkey · 29/12/2025 09:55

Thanks to the people recommending DuckDuckGo - so far, so good. Seems to have cured all the issues I was having on Safari (threads freezing and pages going blank and reloading, little messages coming up saying “page reloading” etc). Really weird using MN again without any issues. Smile

Mistletoeiggi · 29/12/2025 10:33

Doesn't sound like it's going to go away though, if "racy lingerie" is the type of ads that are acceptable.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 29/12/2025 13:12

When they've been hosting at least one photo of baby genitals for the past two weeks, unbothered, I wouldn't imagine they'll be in a rush to remove the woman's buttocks.

Any response to this @BeckyAMumsnet? Do you agree with this description of the photo? I find it worrying.

And models wearing lingerie whether the racier kind or the more industrial type, fall within what we allow on the site, thank you for this. I shall be posting my own ‘racy lingerie’ on various threads, unexpectedly, whether it’s inappropriate or not, and I expect all pictures to be approved. Right?

Make sure to let all your hair grow for at least a month first, for maximum effect.

HJ40 · 27/12/2025 20:57

Are you fucking joking? If you work it tech then you’ll know that clicking on an ad to get the URL will then cause no end of more of the same for the user and the whole point is that WE DON’T WANT THIS. Mn need to sort this out.

It's just a huge profit making machine/business. Anyone fancy setting up a new forum?

How about renaming the site Bumsnet?

I understand people not wanting to see these ads.

But what I don't understand is why so many people would rather get angry/upset/annoyed and keep posting about them over and over instead of paying £2.99 a month to cut the ads out?

It's less than the price of a cup of coffee a month in most places.

I don't buy cups of coffee in any places.

And I refuse to give my payment to details to a site that has allowed various data breaches and was lax enough to enable images of child sexual abuse to be posted (and I'm sure there was an agreement at the time that we didn't want to see what is this rash pictures involving breasts, bottoms and genitals, but that appears to have been forgotten about by MNHQ). I refuse to give my payment to details to a website that still relies on volunteers for some of its moderation and is inconsistent in its daytime moderation.

Moreover, I refuse to pay just to overcome the issues caused by a website that is so badly coded that ads do make it constantly hang, reload and cause phones to overheat. If I have it open in chrome on my laptop, it tells me how much memory is being used in each tab and MN is always using 10-50 times as much as anything else, even other forums with ads and pages with scrollover images, like online newspapers.

You've got a lot of catching up to do if you believe you'd be giving payment details to MNHQ.

It's not a very long thread if you want to scroll back.

Or even just to MNHQ's posts.

I hadn't seen the post by MNHQ yet, as it was after the one I replied to.

The same goes regardless of how the money is paid. I'm not parting with money to use a shoddily coded and badly managed website.

And that's your choice to put up with adverts you dislike whilst continuing to use the forum.

I'm just pointing out the misinformation there about MNHQ handling the financial side of things.

I use an ad free browser. Even more bargainous

I thought they stopped you using them. When I try to disable ads or cookies I just get the cookie wall.

I assume MN staff don't see it because they see what someone with a paid account sees.

Slightly off topic. Is it just me or is anyone else confused by what @BeckyAMumsnet means by industrial lingerie?
I have visions of someone in welding gear.

The kind of brassiere designed to withstand a nuclear strike. My personal preference, bespoke from Harland & Wolff.

Thanks for your patience today. We’ve blocked the latest round of ads and are continuing work to prevent them appearing again.
