We’re mostly women here, and it’s not like there might be any children walking past is it? You’ll let me post it, right? It’s a very sexy photo 🥵🥵🥵.

If the answer is no, can I ask why? Because that’s what you’re allowing to be on everyone’s screen through your absolute refusal to do anything about the Anne Summers adverts people have been complaining about since 14th December (or maybe earlier than that, I don’t know).

Shall I screenshot it, and someone can approve the photo?

Or (crazy idea) will you do something about the advert?

USE THE APP!!! The only ads I get are OntheMarket ads (in between every few comments) showing homes local to me for sale which I’m quite enjoying seeing! Some of them are beautiful. No other ads at all. None.

Premium sounds like a good idea until you remember the data breach that has already happened and I personally do not have the confidence that it could not happen again, and would link all my posts with my rl name and address (through my payment method).

I agree. MN has been subject to a data breach, DDOS attacks, and a dubious intern, and now financial data is being processed by a 3rd party I believe. Posters have also reported difficulties cancelling their subscriptions.

No thanks.

LemaxObsessive · 28/12/2025 13:16

These are them. Honestly, just use the app!

It has, but this has nothing to do with Stripe who process the payments on behalf of MN.

@ItsFridayIminLoveJS Neurodivergence has nothing to do with spelling???

Not that it has anything at all to do with the thread, but dyslexia is a neurodivergent condition.

I use Google as little as possible, I don’t use Chrome. I use Safari. I have never seen any of these adds and actually see very few. The child with the runny nose, has come up. I use the internet daily like everyone else but I use it in a very particular way and as a result I am not subject to advert bombardment, thankfully. It can be done!

Reading this thread has made me aware of the need for us as individuals to be aware of how we use our devices, and that we should take the time and effort to personalise them and control our Internet experience by way of the controls and settings provided, rather than allowing the corporations to set our Internet experience, as they are want to do.

For PP saying it’s just an advert scroll on, fair enough, but I do not buy Ann Summers and do not need to be advertised to by them. And surely lingerie advertising should be discreet. The screenshot provided was all buttocks. No thanks!

Mochudubh · 28/12/2025 13:26

Yesterday I tried to post a picture of a woman wearing nothing but a red bow on the thread about tacky door bows (that's what door bows make me think of) and the image is still waiting approval but we get bombarded by these ads day in and day out.

IWantToSneeze · 28/12/2025 13:31

It would be very, very easy for Mumsnet to block the Anne Summers URL from showing in Google Ads. Google Ads has a blocklist you can use, as well as types of ads that you can block (such as gambling, alcohol, over 18, etc).

That Mumsnet have not done this, is telling. They are choosing for these ads to continue showing. Any time they come on and faff about "What browser are you using", etc, they are just kicking the can down the road.

Edited

The iOS app has lots of ads which I didn’t mind too much when they were static but that flashing phone one was what drove me to using the ad free browser as it made the app unusable for me.

Weirdo

Isayitasitis · 28/12/2025 13:44

Here's a thought, use adblocker in your browser. Ublock is great.

😮

Not everyone can afford to buy a coffee when out and about. Most women who need (not want) access to this website and the wisdom of certain women tend to be using food banks or have no access to their own money. Are they not allowed to complain about adverts that objectify women?

God this

Im sick of seeing everything measured by 'price of a coffee' to show how cheap something is or how much someone has saved

I dont drink takeaway coffees and very very very rarely go out for a coffee.

We do if we're on holiday but day to day I dont tend to buy drinks or food out unless Ive got a timescale/outing problem where Im stuck without a hot drink/food

Ive used various adblockers over the years but inevitably then cant get onto certain sites because they dont accept adblockers, then the removing the adblocker for just that one site seems to cause problems or doesnt remove it. Ive had to give up.

Everyone has their individual income/story etc.

But for those who can, I don't understand why they don't if they hate the ads so much.

Which was pretty much what I said in the first place 🤷‍♂️

This ^^ Double standards, but also, it’s ok to have no desire to see other people’s buttocks on a site you use for parenting info.

BillieWiper · 28/12/2025 14:20

People have been complaining about these ads for at least two years. It's safe to say that way less than one percent of MN users want to buy things from or see images from this company.

If I wanted horrific tacky undies and sex aids I'd get them somewhere cheaper than there and still don't want adverts about it?!

Am l missing something? If that's it? Just scroll pass.. loads of ads ... non bother me. I hardly glance at them.
Too many feminist on here... just scroll past and get over it... more in the world to be bothered about than a lingerie advert..

How many feminists is an acceptable amount to you?

Apologies to all, and don’t even think will make it past censors, but this is it..

omg its a bum...a rather nice bum to be fair......she's not bent over showing her hole so i can't see an issue

Are you fucking joking? If you work it tech then you’ll know that clicking on an ad to get the URL will then cause no end of more of the same for the user and the whole point is that WE DON’T WANT THIS. Mn need to sort this out.

It’s usually possible to copy a URL without actually actually going to the website.

MNHQ don't store or process any financial or payment data themselves, it's handled by a third-party called Stripe.

So would that mean I could pay using a bank card, but not give mnhq my name?

I can't remember if I had to give MNHQ my name, but I gave my bank card details to Stripe.

HQ hold no financial data.

DuckDuckGo for the win. (The free ad browser.) Seriously, download it and get shot of all the crappy MN ads for free.

Have just done this again, thanks. Had an old phone until quite recently and so many ads simply couldn't load on it so had got used to the blank space where an advert was. Weirdly, the tacky AS ones still got through.

Mistletoeiggi · 28/12/2025 14:52

Thanks @SweeetFannyAdams
I'm not as worried about the financial side as I am the name and address.
