Constant intrusive videos

These are driving me mad. I understand you need to sell advertising space, but on every thread there is a highly intrusive video. Even when I close them down they reappear on the same thread! Surely once a user has closed the ad that should be it?

I've just had to close the same video FIVE times on one page of a thread. I opened another thread and, same video again, another four times. It's just not true to say that if you close a video that will reduce the number you'll see during the session.

Mumsnet have to have advertisments as they get paid for for the advertising space. Its how they can still offer a free space for people to use.
You can pay a fiver a month for premium, which removes the ads. Its much smoother.
I think its worth it tbh. I also do that for my local newspaper as its a pain to navigate the ads.

It makes me think about what websites i use a lot and which im not bothered about.

I havent succumbed to youtube or spotify premium though, as even though the ads make it unpleasant, i dont think its good enough value.
Mumsnet I really do want to support though, as i think they have taken such a lot of flak from the media on our behalf

And that's fine, I don't think anyone disputes the need for the free service to be supported by ads.

What we have an issue is a) how intrusive these pop up videos are and b) that they aren't working the way MN themselves have said they're supposed to. You're supposed to be able to click the 'x' and they stop but they don't, or you can't click the 'x' because it's beneath the scroll bar (Safari on Mac) or not there at all (Safari on iPad).

In the time it's taken me to write this, I'd closed the ad but three more popped up.

And it how quickly it pops up when you go on or change page.

Agree the x doesn’t work. If it’s there at all.

Where’s the edit option gone? Is it not there for 15 mins anymore?

found it

I'd love to know how to get rid of the Debenhams ad that half way down every thread, shows the bottom half of a woman, wearing see a through flesh toned g-string. There should be a way to report ads, surely or say "I don't want to see this?"

I've never looked at that kind of underwear, I do have some nice lace Brazillian pants myself but I don't need any more, nor to see someone's foof in my face when I'm talking about serious subjects or looking for support.
