iPad safari- MN not clickable

I don’t know if it’s my iPad but the last couple of days, MN just freezes on this. It comes up but then I can’t click on anything.

everything else is fine on the iPad. Wonder if anyone else is having this. Using the website not the app.

I’ve noticed it is now repeatedly crashing and reloading on safari on my iPhone now as well! I don’t know if it’s something to do with this particular update on iThings.

The iPad is still freezing on it immediately and it affects any other tabs that I’m running so I won’t be trying that again.

I don’t have any ad blockers running on my phone or my iPad.

I prefer not to use it on my phone because it takes up a huge amount of battery and I do use my phone as an actual telephone. I don’t have a landline so I like to preserve my phone battery.

Had exactly this same problem for the last 1-2 weeks (iPhone and Safari). Pages not loading, links not clickable. I have switched to Chrome and it’s much better.

I ve been having the same issues, just started a few days ago. In outlook on my IPhone I can read a couple of threads and then it just starts freezing and in some cases not opening at all, very frustrating, has always worked ok in the past

Safari was sticking constantly for me too so I switched to Chrome which had been much better. However the last 24 hours on Chrome has also been glitchy and freezing at times.

MN has been completely unusable for me too. Pages just do not load or freeze, and then I realised after someone mentioned on this thread that if then affects all off safari for me and I can’t use any other website once I’ve been on Mumsnet. I thought there was something wrong with my phone or wi fi but it seems to be that MN is the root cause.

I wonder what the difference is that means it is broken for some but not for others.

The only issue I have is that large threads are slow. It doesn't affect any other tabs I have open so what is it about my iPad set up that is different?

I do have an ad blocker and I routinely reject all non-essential cookies from all websites - I don't know if that's what makes it work OK (ish!) for me.

I've just emailed two very thrilling videos of nothing happening!

😂 it’s crashing really frequently on my iPhone now as well. Annoying as I just successfully started a thread.

It works fine when I’m in private mode, which does suggest it’s something to do with cookies or history.

Same here, working in private mode.

Thanks @ShikShakShok , it’s good to get off the app as it’s not nearly as good a safari (when it’s working)

It’s incredibly irritating.

I had just started to look for a new Ipad but I have changed my mind now! I am on a chromebook at the moment and there's no problem.

I have started to go on private browsing to use Mumsnet now and it works fine there 🤔🤔 I don’t know why it won’t load properly on my normal sever / browser. If it’s cookies related I don’t know how to clear them (iPhone)?

Me too, unusable on my iPad. Have been advised to use the app but really hated it. Can’t access past the first page ( it asks me to log on but won’t let me ) via Facebook on iPhone or iPad. I can access via Safari on phone or laptop though.

It does seem improved on private browsing, it has to be said.

As per the other thread on this, private browsing seems to sort the problem, @HebeMumsnet. Your IT bods probably need that info.

Thanks @NoWordForFluffy . Yes, it does look like that's giving a good workaround at the moment at least - we've passed it on.

If anyone having this issue could also clear their cache and cookies and let us know if that sorts it, that would be great, too. Thanks!

Just to say it doesn't appear to be all iPads/safari/iPhones, etc. - not sure if that's helpful for MNHQ to know it isn't affecting everyone

My app is working fine and the desktop site if working fine on both my Ipad and iphone through Safari.
iPad and phone are both running 17.5.1

Cleared cache and cookies, made no difference.

just downloaded chrome and it is better but but still small 1 to 2 seconds glitches.

would like to be able to use safari as normal

Mine is working really well now and I haven’t changed anything at all 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ very strange!

Safari got better for a few days and is just as annoying as ever. Deleted cookies (or whatever called on iPad) didn't see any real improvement.

I do probably read the posts with many replies.

I'm using the app but I just don't find it offer the same content the web page offers. It's ok if I save something on the web as I can find it again but tbh I'm getting fed with it.

Was better, but really bad again. It was awful when trying to follow the Olympic thread that was very busy.

Wonder is it’s to do with bookmarks? Takes ages to load and jump to the bookmark, but it’s not jumping to the right place - always a little earlier than the bookmark.
