iPad safari- MN not clickable

I don’t know if it’s my iPad but the last couple of days, MN just freezes on this. It comes up but then I can’t click on anything.

everything else is fine on the iPad. Wonder if anyone else is having this. Using the website not the app.

I had this and had to change my settings so only 100 posts per page, seemed to fix it.

Safari 17.5.1 as well.

I'm not changing to 100 per page - last time I did that, I had to wait every single time in like Jed to the next page. At least this way, it’s only one page to load.

It's only on MN that I get this problem, and only on the iPad (not phone).

Mine is the same - I thought it was time for a new iPad but maybe not..

It is only MN where this happens.

Mine is the same. I thought it was just because my iPhone 11 is getting on a bit!

Mine was at 100 already so changed to 50 and it didn't make any difference, still got problems with safari.

Not getting on with the MN app at all!

@OllyBJolly I was eyeing up new iPads too, but I'm now sure it is just MN that is causing the problem. I even have problems with using Google if I have MN open in one tab and try google in another. As soon as the MN tab is closed (sometimes need to close and reopen safari too) everything is ok.

Same here - iPhone using Chrome (well, not any longer as I can’t even open the page, I swopped to Safari).

Different iPad problem for me this morning, cookies consent pop up every time a new page on MN load, every thread I open for example.

This (affecting other tabs opening) is happening for me, too.

And me! I have just made the connection after reading this. This could have got very expensive 😮

I have had this for a day or so, and I’ve improved it by deleting a load of cookies

Same experience here, using iPad and Safari.

I’ve had the site grinding almost to a halt twice now, once a couple of months back and again over the last weekend. On both occasions clearing cookies/history has immediately resolved the problem.

Morning, everyone. Thanks for all the information. Despite this, we haven't been able to replicate the problem here so far. Could we ask anyone that has time to send us a screen recording of the issue as it happens? There are apps you can download to do this, or you can just use a second device to record it. If you could send any recordings to contactus@mumsnet.com and put 'screen recording - site stuff Safari issues' in the title, we'll pick them up and see if we can work out what's going on that way. I’d literally just be recording a static shot of the home page because that’s as far as I can get - but hopefully others who can’t load it can be more helpful.

I don’t think will make much difference recording it as it simply doesn’t work at times. Thank you though

Could the issue be an ad-blocker extension people are using?

I had an issue with this once on a different site and it was caused by an ad-blocker. I think it was something to do with an invisible ad overlay (transparent png file blocking touches).

I’m having the same problem with Safari on my iPhone, but MN is working fine on my iPad. If I try to load the Active or Threads I’m On pages, it starts to download the page, then freezes and it’s not possible to scroll down the page or click any links.

I’m using safari with iOS 17.5.1 and my phone is a iPhone SE and is a few years old.

My iPad is newer (iPad Mini Sixth Generation) and is also using iOS 17.5.1

On the plus side, I’m wasting less time on my phone!

I have wondered if it's connected with loading in the bookmarks.

I.e. freezes when it's supposed to jump down to the bookmark.

Ok, for the first time, is happened on my (Android) phone using Chrome

On the page was a poll and an advert that hadn't loaded in (no adblocker)

I've sent a (pretty bad, technically challenged) video to the email.

I removed all ad blocked from my ipad completely, and reset the ipad before videoing.

MN has become completely unusable on Safari on my iPhone, running iOS 17.6. It’s fine on Chrome.

Mine only struggles when a thread is large (over about 400 posts). Then it looks like the screen freezes but if you look top right by the wifi/battery % there is the little spinning thing that means the page is still loading. Once that disappears it's done and everything works.

It is literally just large threads that do it on my iPad though, I don't have problems with anything else like Active or the homepage etc.
