Hi @MNHQ

I don’t know if it’s my iPad but the last couple of days, MN just freezes on this. It comes up but then I can’t click on anything.

everything else is fine on the iPad. Wonder if anyone else is having this. Using the website not the app.

thank you

LilyMumsnet · 11/07/2024 11:06

Hi OP

When you say 'freezes on this' do you mean you're unable to enter the site at all? How are you getting into the site, via google/newsletter link?

Could you let us know where it freezes and how many posts per page you're viewing?

DawnMumsnet · 12/07/2024 12:36

Thanks to everyone who's raised this. @SoupDragon are you using the app or the mobile site on your iPad? You seem to be the only one on the thread using Safari/iPad and not having any issues!

DawnMumsnet · 12/07/2024 12:55

Thanks, SoupDragon.

Can we please ask which version of the site you're all using?

Morning, everyone. Thanks for all the information. Despite this, we haven't been able to replicate the problem here so far. Could we ask anyone that has time to send us a screen recording of the issue as it happens? There are apps you can download to do this, or you can just use a second device to record it. If you could send any recordings to contactus@mumsnet.com and put 'screen recording - site stuff Safari issues' in the title, we'll pick them up and see if we can work out what's going on that way. Thank you!

Morning, everyone. Thanks to everyone who sent screen videos in. We're looking at those now. It looks like a few people were asking about clearing cookies.

Here's how to do that in Safari https://support.apple.com/en-us/105082

And these are the instructions for Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

HebeMumsnet · 22/07/2024 11:14

Thanks @NoWordForFluffy . Yes, it does look like that's giving a good workaround at the moment at least - we've passed it on.

If anyone having this issue could also clear their cache and cookies and let us know if that sorts it, that would be great, too. Thanks!

HebeMumsnet · 29/07/2024 13:09

Hi again, everyone. Thanks for all the info sent in so far. It looks like there may be more than one issue at play here, so it's all really helpful. Just to confirm, this is what we would like everyone to try first:
Tell us your device and browser info here
Try clearing your cache & cookies
Try changing your thread settings to view 25 posts per page
Confirm that you are not using an ad blocker
If possible send in a screen recording? This really helps.

We've been looking at the info some of you have sent in. We're missing a few bits for each of the following people (apologies if we've missed this somewhere but if you have time to have a look that will really help us get to the bottom of this). This is a bit of a long one - sorry!

@NoWordForFluffy
Thanks for the screen recording! Can you double check you don't have an ad blocker on as the ads don't seem to be loading from the recording you've sent us. Could you also try changing your thread settings to 25 and try clearing your cache and cookies?

Could you change your thread settings to 25 per page and see if that helps. Also, it looks like you're using an ad blocker, which will be causing at least part of the issue here, we're afraid.

Hello! If you're tagged, it's because we're missing some information. We do need to ask whether you have tried clearing your cache and changing posts per page to 25, and if not, please can you do this?

We understand that clearing your cache is frustrating - but it helps us investigate the issue and for some, cache and posts per page seem to ease some of the issues. So it's a big help when establishing a pattern.

Please do give it a go and let us know how you get on. We'll use the information to try and replicate the issues you're facing (which gets us closer to a resolution).

BeckyAMumsnet · 28/08/2024 13:25

Hello, everyone. We appreciate your patience as we continue efforts to find the cause of this issue. If anyone can help with any of the following, that would be very useful to us:

1: Please share links to specific threads where the issue is happening

2: We want to identify if this is geo-specific problem and so knowing your location would be useful. That doesn't mean we want to know exactly where you live so don't worry! But if you feel comfortable sending us an email with your location (e.g Manchester) then please do so.

3: We're also interested in what privacy consent state you are using on Mumsnet? You can check this by going to: 'privacy settings' in the footer of the Mumsnet website > consent pop-up appears. What have you pressed here? Accept and close or Reject all?

4: Those on iPhone or iPad, do you have 'private relay' turned on? You can check this by going to: device settings > [your name] > iCloud. It will say here if it is turned on.

Thanks again and our apologies for the time it's taking us here. It's a bit more complicated than we first anticipated.

MNHQ

LilyMumsnet · 29/08/2024 11:23

Thanks so much @goldsequin - that's really helpful.
If anyone else can provide this information, please do email us or if you're comfortable posting it, that's fine too.

HebeMumsnet · 16/09/2024 09:58

Morning everyone. We're still trying to find a fix for this problem. We wondered if anyone would be available during the day and happy to take a quick call from our Tech team and share your screen with them so they can see what's happening here.

If you'd be willing to do that, please drop us a message here and we'll be in contact off the boards to arrange a convenient time.
