I was on a thread today where the very first post, quoted the op, didn’t reference elements of it ( as some posters are making out it’s like some form of academic exercise writing a response ). I just though, just why.

I thought of this thread last week, when I had to scroll through someone quoting one of the longest OPs in Mumsnet history, and who then simply responded with "no".

How did your discussions go @HebeMumsnet ?

Some sensible people have taken to linking this thread when they come upon one egregiously quoting the OP …

Last night an OP posted a long update on a thread started about three months ago. 15 minutes later a poster quoted the OP’s update in full.

Thus making sure everyone knows she's referring to the update, not the original post. Makes sense.

Everyone else managed with ‘Great update, OP!’ …

Just scroll on. Not a problem.
