Why did the "Lisa Johnson One to Many" thread get deleted?

PermanentIyExhaustedPigeon · 19/03/2024 18:26

I've seen the deletion message but don't understand why the comments that broke talk guidelines couldn't have been deleted and the rest of the thread left to stand.

Lisa Johnson claims that she had it removed because she put pressure on MN to do so.

Can anyone from MNHQ clarify please?

The screenshots exist.

I'm sure they do. And screenshots will also exist of the people being jumped on, on the Mumsnet thread too!

Strugglingtodomybest · 21/03/2024 18:13

I'm sorry, but this is simply not true and is a gross exaggeration of what was said.

The unpleasantness (massive understatement) came after she left the thread/platform. It was personal and disgusting.

Lisa would attack anyone

So we noticed, @Carab13
Hmm

Low….

I didn't see anything like this at all.

Well it was deemed bad enough for MN to take it down 🤔

You've missed the point. Shell beach said that it was 'hearsay that people who posted positive experiences were jumped on' I was pointing out screenshots exist of it happening as your barrister friend will see when they thread the thread. So your comment makes no sense. You're effectively saying that because Lisa made a comment it was right to jump on people who commented on the thread who'd had a positive experience. They hadn't dished anything out? They provided balance to a thread

Mumsnet themselves said - "We also felt it ventured beyond constructive criticism and more towards a personal attack"

A personal attack against whom?

Lisa did come on the thread, introduced herself (so didn’t remain anonymous) and did exactly what you suggest. She was professional, answered questioned posed to her, and was pleasant to all who engaged with her.

The unpleasantness (massive understatement) came after she left the thread/platform. It was personal and disgusting. No person, whether they are a business owner or not, should have to put up with nastiness. Constructive feedback it most definitely was not.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. You do need to remain professional or remove yourself from the conversation in a professional way if you feel it is unsalvageable (im sure I've spelled that wrong)

I didn't say anything about criticism needing to be constructive. When it comes to criticism you're going to get a hell of a lot more unconstructive than you'll get constructive. I'd love it if all the criticism I've had over the years had been constructive 🤣. I've been blamed for government policies, the price of stamps and the state of yodel among other things. Edit - and import fees. I control the world it seems.

In fact, you come out looking even better responding well to personal attacks than when you're responding to constructive criticism. People can be seriously impressed by your response and it can benefit you hugely the more unfair they are and the fairer you are in response iyswim.

I haven't read the other thread. If anyone wants to pm me screenshots that'd be great because I'm a nosy bastard 😀

@BeMorePositive recollections may vary. I have the screenshots.

Geebray · 21/03/2024 18:32

All the videos are on Lisa's Youtube. Eyden, Rowe, Tynan, Wayne the carpenter who was on the lunch and learn. Not affiliates.

I've found two that are affiliates already from Lisa's YouTube interviewees. One posted a reel on Facebook about how some people had been difficult on Facebook about her selling Lisa's OTM course this year. She deleted their comments and ejected them from her group (which was for her own business, not Lisa Johnson's).

I guess she has learnt well!

Two of these people I named (gave surnames for)?

NimbleRaven · 21/03/2024 18:40

Geebray · 21/03/2024 18:38

Jane Pangbourne.

Did I name Jane Pangbourne in that post about not being an affiliate? No. I did not. I named Eyden, Rowe, Tynan, Wayne the carpenter. The surname Pangbourne - not in that list.

You implied in your post that ALL the success stories were by affiliates. I gave you the names of four who weren't. Just keeping it factual

Edited

I couldn't find some of them, why demand names from me when you just flung some surnames at me?

They are all there in the success story playlist. All the people with those surnames gave interviews. Their surnames are in the titles of the videos

Agreed when there is truth and reason in what someone is saying.

If it students were on here commenting saying they had a bad experience Lisa would reach out to those students / clients act on that and make changes that were needed

but the people commenting on this thread aren’t students or clients and aren’t even part of her world

So how can people pass comments on something they’ve never been part of?

I've been part of her world on and off for years. Well before she made her first million. And in the thread that was deleted I praised what she'd achieved and said she sounded lovely (my opinion is changing).

But I also spoke out about the things that I didn't like. Because she's not perfect. No one is. And that's fine because we can learn and grow by accepting criticisms about our business.

But there is a problem when you're surrounded by people who only say how amazing you are. Because then it becomes an echo chamber. Everyone gets outraged on her behalf without even knowing the whole story. Which ironically is exactly what she tells people not to do when she sees something negative written about her, and sees other people join in. So when she posted that the thread was sexist (it absolutely 100% was NOT sexist), all her fans jump on saying how awful it is, how amazing she is, etc etc etc. But she wasn't telling the truth. The thread did have name calling which I don't agree with, but it was absolutely not sexist.

I'll be honest, I daren't disagree with her in her group when I think she's out of line. Because I've seen other people's comments deleted and then you never see them again. Someone was blocked for asking what was a very good question, because either Lisa or an admin didn't like it. What does it say about someone when you're too scared to disagree with them? I know I'm not alone because I've had the discussion with other people who are part of her world.

So anyway I came to say that you saying that people who are commenting aren't part of Lisa's world is incorrect.

Jane Pangbourne.

Just listened. Really nice feedback on the impact she feels Lisa’s program has had on her business, wouldn’t you say?
