Why did the "Lisa Johnson One to Many" thread get deleted?

PermanentIyExhaustedPigeon · 19/03/2024 18:26

I've seen the deletion message but don't understand why the comments that broke talk guidelines couldn't have been deleted and the rest of the thread left to stand.

Lisa Johnson claims that she had it removed because she put pressure on MN to do so.

Can anyone from MNHQ clarify please?

How would any of you like it if people were speaking so negatively about you, it’s not nice

That's why there was general consternation when Lisa commented on her FB page that we on MN were "lowlifes on a gossip site".

I’m really confused do all you people know Lisa and have seen her work?

I do know her and I’m a student of hers and I have joined OTM, I’m not coming on here making saying I’m making millions or even hundred of thousands yet as this is a new business for me however I have made more in my business than any salary I would have earned in a “job” from the lessons Lisa has taught me if anyone wants to see a snap shot of my account privately message me and I’ll happily show you. The course OTM has so many success stories and I’ll tell you what I’ll do as I go through the programme I’ll happily come on here over the next 6 months to share the success and how I’m getting on honestly

But more importantly than that, Lisa is a genuinely nice, beautiful lovely person who does not deserve some of the things being commented on this thread

When you are a business? You suck it up. That's what you do.

You stay calm and professional. You address concerns and issues. You reflect on negative feedback and you make changes where possible.

On the flip side though - people on Mumsnet were also guilty of name calling, particularly people who were on Lisa's side of the fence as it were. 'Flying monkeys' and 'minions' are terms that immediately spring to mind. Flying monkeys has been used on this thread.

It is always a HUGE own goal for any business person to react emotionally and start threatening and insulting people who dont think your product or service is very good.

All you are ever viewed as after that is unprofessional.

It is important to not go on the attack. You just cannot behave like that or you will tank your business. You have to accept criticism and take an honest look at your company and see where you can make changes.

Being able to accept criticism and learn from it makes people feel more confident in your company. Responding with threats, insults or aggression never will. People will always remember your company as oh, that's the one with the woman who had a tantrum and said/did x,y, z.

Not good. Not good at all.

I’m not sure if you saw the deleted thread @IncompleteSenten ? It descended into a personal attack on Lisa Johnson. Predominantly, it turned out, by people who had never heard of her, had any experience of her or her courses. Having not had any previous exposure to Mumsnet, I was pretty shocked by it to be honest. Wasn’t good.

Axx · 21/03/2024 17:49

Lisa Johnson can't choose whether or not to have a trustpilot profile. Once she gets a review on there, she'll have a profile basically. That's how it works.

No one must have tried to leave her a review yet. Also they need to be genuine reviews or she can try and get them removed. It's open to abuse on both sides but sounds like her having a profile would be good for all the cheerleaders who want to shake their poms for her. Not sure if she would cope with the bad reviews though.

In my opinion from what I saw last week she's a bit touchy.

Carab13 · 21/03/2024 17:52

Agreed when there is truth and reason in what someone is saying.

If it students were on here commenting saying they had a bad experience Lisa would reach out to those students / clients act on that and make changes that were needed

but the people commenting on this thread aren’t students or clients and aren’t even part of her world

So how can people pass comments on something they’ve never been part of?

I think she was referring to those individuals who chose to personally attack her. It was pretty horrible.

And when clients did comment they'd had a good experience they were jumped on.

I can pass comment on LJ's bizarre and uncalled-for attack on the women of MN.

She didn’t attack the women of NM she was hurt and annoyed rightly so by people passing judgement and making comments on a course they’d never been part of

Lisa Would attack anyone and she certainly wouldn’t attack anyone who had been part of her of one her courses and if they’d felt they’d had a bad experience she would work with them to try and help

No I didn't. That doesn't really matter though. You have to react differently as a business than as an individual. People are always going to say things and some of them aren't going to be nice. You have to put your business hat on and remain professional.

I've had some what I felt was unfair feedback at times. My initial reaction was to be upset and defensive because I'm human but you have to shake it off, take a step back and find a positive. Find a way to take negative feedback and turn it into a positive. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to address this, thank you for your perspective, I'm sorry this hasn't been useful, I'm so sorry to hear... I've listened to your feedback and this is what I'm going to do differently...

To be quite cynical about it, even the most negative feedback is an opportunity for some good publicity.

Or you can fuck it up and have that be the only thing people remember when they hear your name.

I think it depends on what side of the fence you want it to sit on. If it's a comment against Lisa Johnson - it happened. If its a comment for Lisa Johnson - It's hearsay 😂

Lisa did come on the thread, introduced herself (so didn’t remain anonymous) and did exactly what you suggest. She was professional, answered questioned posed to her, and was pleasant to all who engaged with her.

The unpleasantness (massive understatement) came after she left the thread/platform. It was personal and disgusting. No person, whether they are a business owner or not, should have to put up with nastiness. Constructive feedback it most definitely was not.
