Dear Mumsnet please could we have a 'Larger Families' section?

rather like the 'multiples' section

it could be for 4+ children maybe and we can all get together and discuss how to run home soup kitchens/chinese laundry and whether or not Nick Leeson had the right idea for how to finance our broods?

I have mooted it before and people seem quite keen - it is different having a lot of children and it helps to have support

Thanks !

ah well then, you'll be a fully fledged member by xmas or the new year in that case

sorkycake · 21/03/2008 19:45

"Spiders, snakes and a lizards head,

If I tell a tale, I'll die 'til I'm dead"

That's the best I can do Psychomum5, I promise not to snitch your secrets

conniedescending · 21/03/2008 19:46

May I join in?

we have

DD1 5
DD2 3
DD3 18mths
DS 4months

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 19:49

well, as far as I am concerned then sorky, on that oath, you're in.

beware letting go of our secrets tho, before DC4 is in your belly........snakes will be the least of your worries.....mwhahahaha

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 19:51

nd hello connie

yours are still tiny and wee, and close!!!!!

I had, at the closest and youngest, DS1 newborn, DD3 17mths, DD2 4 and DD1 just 6, and that was 'fun' .

kittywise · 21/03/2008 19:53

ok then sorky, in you come BUT you must start NOW by making a enormous bucket full of jelly ( any flavour will do) then when it is set, turn it out onto a pavement and attempt to herd it across the road to the other side, trying to keep it in as much in once piece as you can!
There, practise this for the next few months and you'll be ok!

hello connie, my first and last 2 are 14 months apart, it's a toughie.

Ceolas · 21/03/2008 19:53

We'd qualify too.

DD 8
DD 6
DS 4
DD 6 months.

It would be great to be amongst the smaller families for once! Actually, I'd really like more, but not sure how it will go. Don't think DH is very keen. DD3 has been hard work!

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 19:57

yeah......but.......your DS needs a brother!!!

twas my arguement for me when wanting to go for DC5 (altho me taking St. Johns Wort while on the pill sorted that one for me without haveing to really beg)

conniedescending · 21/03/2008 19:58

lol psychomum......'fun' isn't the word I'd pick at the moment

ggglmpp · 21/03/2008 19:59

We need Juules; I think she holds the title.

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 20:00

and the 'fun' was why I developed my addiction to coffee, and dthen to wine

kittywise · 21/03/2008 20:01

I like wine and gin and beer

Ceolas · 21/03/2008 20:05

DS needs a brother. Indeed, but that was my argument for the 4th!

sorkycake · 21/03/2008 20:05

What does st john wort do?

sorkycake · 21/03/2008 20:09

3 kids
bucket full of jelly
busy road
gin

gotcha!

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 20:18

well........st johns wort makes does to The Pill what antibiotics do......which I never knew until I had fallen for DS2!!!!

twas the year after I fell for him that they realised and declared it unsafe to take while on the pill.......IIRC about 100 other women suffered the same fate were blessed like me

sorkycake · 21/03/2008 20:32

Did you all have happy surprises or were all of your pg's planned?

Give me your tips for getting your men to agree past 4 kids, if you would

Dh has only just said maybe for 4, which of course is a yes!

But there's no way he'd have 5, unless.........I'm gonna need a bigger notepad!

cazboldy · 21/03/2008 20:36

Number 1 was definitely unplanned. Condom broke and MAP failed so he was meant to be.......

DD1, we decided to have another, but think I was probably already pg

ds2, conceived while bf, with no period in between. Found out for definite at 17 weeks, and had my first scan at 20wks 5 days

ds3, definitely planned.....took quite a bit of trying actually....

dd2, we thought ds3 would be a bit lonely, so just let nature take it's course (and dh thought it would take ages to conceive as we had had to try with ds3 )

kittywise · 21/03/2008 20:36

wear him down with nagging!!

sorkycake · 21/03/2008 20:39

yes that's leading to no.4 hopefully kittywise, relentless pressure.

I used the old "2 is soooo dull, everyone has 2 kids, lets have another" for no.3, so I might have to be rather inventive for anymore than 4.

kittywise · 21/03/2008 20:41

sorky, with any luck he'll give up trying to count!

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 20:47

I was told at 18, after being diagnosed with PCO, that I would have a 5% chance of ever falling pregnant naturally!!!

I was devestated as children were already in my plan......I was already engaged to DH at that point, and was working as a nursery nurse/nanny for a family with 3 children including identical twin boys.

we married when I was 20, with the plan to start saving for IVF if I wasn;t pregnant within a few years.....and then found that my wedding nerves weren;t nerves, it was morning sickness, and lo DD1 was born 8mths later !!!!

DD2 was tried for once DD1 hit her 1st b/day, as we thought DD1 was a fluke and I thought we may need a few years trying. I fell the first month!

DD3 came along after I took two packs of pills back-to-back to miss a period, but I had had tonsilitis and taken antiB's without thinking of the repercussions.

DS1....I was still breastfeeding DD3 and not had periods and not thought I could fall....

and DS2, the pill + st johns wort!

so, all meant to be, yet only DD2 actively tried for!

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 20:48

oh, and then DH had 'the snip' to ensure no more accidents blessings

cazboldy · 21/03/2008 20:52

Thats what was wrong with me Psychomum....after I had ds3, had loads of problems, was told I had developed PCO, and would probably need treatment if I wanted to conceive in the future.....4 months later, I got pg

cazboldy · 21/03/2008 20:53

has yours ever come back? I was told about 30% of women have it reoccur
