Dear Mumsnet please could we have a 'Larger Families' section?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 13/03/2008 20:31

rather like the 'multiples' section

it could be for 4+ children maybe and we can all get together and discuss how to run home soup kitchens/chinese laundry and whether or not Nick Leeson had the right idea for how to finance our broods?

I have mooted it before and people seem quite keen - it is different having a lot of children and it helps to have support

Thanks !

Ok, it's not the subject matter I'm objecting to obviously (I hope), it's the breaking down of every family variation.

Soemone might suggest a singleton's board, a daughters only board, a sons only board, one of each board. Every constellation has its problems or indeed good sides.

But variety is the spice of life, we all have one thing in common, we all have children or an association with children, or we wouldn't be here.

MarsLady · 15/03/2008 00:00

Olivia... shouldn't you be on Maternity leave by now?

pedilia · 16/03/2008 23:02

It is a shame when people don't react the same as with DC's 1 or 2

If one more person says to me 'you must be a glutton for punishment' I will scream.

cadelaide · 16/03/2008 23:11

jealous of you all.

I've had to stop at 3.

I shall woefully lurk.

Ooooh, I hope they set up a board. Not that I am qualified to join yet, with only DD1 aged 3, DD2 aged 21 months and bump due next month. But give me 18 months-2 years and a bit of luck and I'll be right there with you.

regarding people congratulating you, I found it surprising that people were sooooo congratulatory about my 3rd actually. I guess it's because I have had it in my plan, so I personally wasn't going through the whole excitment/terrified thing that first timers do....

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 20/03/2008 14:43

funnily enough people have been oddly and sweetly congratulatory over this pregnancy which is nice...started out a bit sort of shocked congratulations but now most people say lovely stuff

Cadmum · 20/03/2008 15:35

Chinese Laundry... Don't even get me STARTED!

I knew that my life had become truly pathetic when I nearly, oh so nearly started a thread about how often people wash everyone's bedding.

I might change my name to short-order-cook first though.

I'm in. Thanks.

PYBF - I was 15 two months before he was born

dh and I have been together since I was 13, and we got married just after I turned 16

cazboldy · 20/03/2008 18:03

I did an asda shop on line the other day, and it came to £354 for about a fortnight! (excluding milk and fruit and veg! )

magnolia74 · 20/03/2008 18:08

Wow Caz, did the age gap cause a stir with your parents? (the being with him at 13 I mean )

I was 16 when I met dh and moved in with him within a year My parenst were not impressed
Feels nice to prove them wrong though

SheherazadetheGoat · 20/03/2008 18:10

can your section be called 'lucky bitches'! i come from alarge family and wish i had a huge brood.

cazboldy · 20/03/2008 18:13

You could say that magnolia (he was 19) but I was very grown up, and he was (is) very immature)

It caused even more of a stir when I got pg!

We have been married for 10 years, and they still say it won't last

They have come round a bit lately as my sis is now a single mum, and they are not at all sure about my brother's wife, so they are starting to think that actually dh isn't so terrible after all
