Dear Mumsnet please could we have a 'Larger Families' section?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 13/03/2008 20:31

rather like the 'multiples' section

it could be for 4+ children maybe and we can all get together and discuss how to run home soup kitchens/chinese laundry and whether or not Nick Leeson had the right idea for how to finance our broods?

I have mooted it before and people seem quite keen - it is different having a lot of children and it helps to have support

Thanks !

Mine go through stages of thinking he is ok, him and my dad clash a bit though so I try not to let them see each other too often

Swedes · 20/03/2008 18:15

Can we have a larger families by a number of different fathers section?

NomDePlume · 20/03/2008 18:17

Crikey Idobelieveinfairies ! 8 ! And DH & I think we're brave for thinking about DC4

Pollyanna · 20/03/2008 18:20

Hello, do I qualify too?

ds 9
dd1 7
dd2 5
dd3 3

dc5 due next week.

I would probably like 6 (but need to get no 5 born first and persuade dh!).

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 20/03/2008 18:21

Caz!! Fantastic re the Asda

I am very pleased with it actually - veg looks much fresher than sainsburys MUCH!!!

also this price matching business is soo far superior to sainsburys in that i do not pay more for a substituted item - so far so good !

ok, I want to ask a question, and only you ot will be able to tell me if it is me, or whether DH is the odd one.

I am going out tonight with the b'mouth MNers.

DD1 and DD3 are at dancing until 7pm.
DD3 needs to be at scouts for 7.30pm.
DS1 is ill (sick)
DS2 is being a pickle
I need to be at the restaurant by 7.30, but can be a little late as the others will drink and not care.

I am telling DH who needs picking up, who needs dropping, the plans for DD2 to get home after scouts, where to put DS1 as his bed is still airing from the sick all over it in the night.....

he is confused, has said my brain works to fast and my mouth faster and that I am going to have to sort me out and leave him a list of what to do with everyone, and text him to remind him about DD2 later when I am out.

HE IS THEIR PARENT TOO........surely after 15yrs together, 14 being parents, the last 5 as parents of 5, he should have some idea pn how to keep tabs on everyone too without my 100% imput ALL THE TIME.

is it me, my DH, or do you all have the same problems with YOUR DH's????

Psychomum5 · 20/03/2008 18:31

sorry....DD2 is scouting!

magnolia74 · 20/03/2008 18:38

My dh is great if I am going out but he would probably find it hard to do what you have put without some gentle reminding and maybe a list

Psychomum5 · 20/03/2008 18:41

oh, was thinking he should just be able to know what to do....like osmosis type thing.

as for swedes post....I am thinking it may be a 'tongue in cheek' response to another thread going on today!

cazboldy · 20/03/2008 19:40

oooh Pollyanna - how exciting

and Pollyanna was my first shetland pony's name

My dh is exactly like that! everything has to be done before I go anywhere.........but I might be a bit of a control freak, cos I don't like the way he does things

liahgen · 20/03/2008 20:02

If I am going out and the kids need to be somewhere specific, I do have to leave precis instructions.
Dh is very good but, nothing else gets done when he is in charge, and they generally eat out!!. Bless.

Did anyone conceive before getting periods back? littlest is 10mths and I don't normally get any periods until have completely finished feeding no matter how little or how much baby';s taking. Had to stop at 15 mths with dc 4 so we coule work on dc5, but am a bit reluctant to do that this time.

Maybe we will just see what happens, I'm 41 now so maybe it won't happen , who knows.

Any more older mums amongst us?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 20/03/2008 21:46

I am 40!

Psychomum - we are two down in the domino effect!!

DD went out to a lomg awaited birthday sleep over at her best friends and was promptly sick in the loos of pizza express.....it is a long night ahead

I have put old towels and bowls in everyones rooms plus changed of bedding and nightwear on all their chairs in case of middle of the night voms!

I am rubbiing anti - bac gel into mine and dp's hands madly

DP is self employed - NEVER has any time off and we have A LOT of diy planned for this weekend

I told him - no matter how ill he is tomorrow he is going to Wickes aren't I mean!!?

Stopfighting · 20/03/2008 22:06

Oh, and respect to Idobelieveinfairies.

Out of curiosity, does your body feel any worse after 8 than it did, say, after the fourth or fifth?

TheDuchyEggOfNorksBride · 20/03/2008 22:06

I'll be the newbie...

DD1 - 6yo
DS1 - 4yo
DD2 - 3yo
DS2 - due in May

I'm nearly 39 so won't be having a 5th - I really don't want to be doing this through my 40s. DH is younger than me.

kittywise · 20/03/2008 22:08

God we need one of these. I've wanted one for ages. I have 6 little ones and I think sharing tips, discussing the problems that larger families bring would be great

evenhope · 21/03/2008 09:16

liahgen I'm 44

"jealous of you all.

I've had to stop at 3.

I shall woefully lurk."

....I must just pop in and retract that statement.

I've been thinking about it and I'm so very lucky to have my 3, some never get any at all.

I hope you get your board (and I shall cheerfully lurk!)

YeahBut · 21/03/2008 09:25

at you all with the lovely big gangs. I'm desperate for a 4th but dh says no way. Anyway, hope you get your own section!

oliviaelanasmum · 21/03/2008 09:31

Swedes · 21/03/2008 10:31

My comment was in light of another thread.

I would like to join - I have:
DS1 16 years old
DS2 12 years old
DD1 2 years old
DS3 8 months old

waggledancer · 21/03/2008 10:46

I qualify.

DD1 17 (18 in 11 days)
DS1 14
DS2 2
DS3 9 months

We are having T-shirts printed saying "Yes, we are mad!"

Am nearly 41 and have definitely finished at 4, but now DS3 is growing am feeling wistful.

Psychomum5 · 21/03/2008 10:55

ok......maybe three for us into the domino effect.....arghhhh

DS1 came in looking better, followed by DS2 complaining of tummy ache in the same way DS1 did about an hour before he started throwing up, and then came DD3 complaining the same.

DD1 now next to me also saying her tummy hurts, but by all accounts in a different way to the others, so I am confused, which doesn;t take much these days!

sooooooo........we will see what the day brings now, and hopefully the rain will hold off for me to do sime washing should they start with the vomiting.

Oh, DD2 is complaining of BOREDOM as all are ill and I am not jumping to her her every whim.
