I'm not a royalist but I don't think making fun of someone like this for their appearance is really fair.

I think criticise, comment on the behaviour and actions of the rich and powerful yes sure, but I don't think it's 'important as a society' that people should freely feel comfortable of making fun of how anyone looks, including the rich and powerful. Not sure of the relevance of people being 'arrested for being antimonarchist' has relevance to taking a cheap shot.

But you werent making fun of them for being rich and powerful, you were making fun of a physical aspect of someone's appearance over which they have no control. You didnt make jokes about the queen's age did you? or William for being bald? or Kate for being "too thin"? By all means, poke fun at someone's poor or spoilt behaviour but making jokes about how someone looks isnt limited to the rich and powerful is it? we all have aspects of our appearance that we feel insecure about- that affects everyone, rich and poor.

Thing is it wasn't just making fun of the rich and powerful. I'm a republican. I saw this as worst of both worlds - reminder that it's the big coronation day for the fans, ears attached as a childish swipe at Charles's appearance.
