Mumsnet turning into Tattle

lillie23 · 21/03/2023 10:04

Anyone else noticed how horrible some of the users on Mumsnet are. There are a few threads on here that I have read and some of the users are so rude with their replies, it reminds me of Tattle the way the users just slate and put people down. I think, would they be so rude and obnoxious if you was asking their advice face to face.

OP posts:

But… they’re not ‘bitching’ about MN having a thread. They’re laughing at its ridiculousness because it is ridiculous.

I see far less piling on on tattle. The vast, vast majority of celebrity/blogger threads are only saying what everyone else is thinking anyway, but doesn’t have the balls to do so.

I read them both. I don’t like censorship so I know which I prefer at the moment.

And if you can’t spot trolls with multiple long saga threads a mile off you probably shouldn’t be on MN

Oh come on. The MN thread on Tattle is a bitch fest. At least own it. Stop pretending Tattle posters are lovely and kind.

Anycolouryoulike · 24/03/2023 21:03

Also isn't it good of MN to let you post on here, Not like Tattle who won't even let any one join.

Free speech on Tattle my arse.

QuimIsASwearWord · 24/03/2023 21:20

What do you mean? Posters on here accused another of revealing in their child’s death? For money? A fan our person or a poster?

A woman posted about her daughter dying in ICU, there was a set of threads with nurses who worked at the hospital, and the OPs long lost cousin also started a thread and a lot of people thought it sounds suss, made up for attention, I didn't follow it all, only read bits in active but saw a lot of troll hunting on here, but I'd seen a lot of concerns raised about it being genuine on Reddit and Twitter and other social media too. I don't know if they all got took down in the end it just the threads asking for flower emojis by the OP

Mumsnet is much more toxic than Tattle and has been for ages.

Totally agree.

Anycolouryoulike · 24/03/2023 21:25

Tattle is toxic. Why not just own it instead of pretending it's not. It's weird AF that you come over here and make out it's all Polly fucking Anna over there.

RachelGreensHair · 24/03/2023 21:55

Mumsnet

OP: it's warm today.
First reply: no it isn't.
Second reply: do you always exaggerate OP. I feel for your partner having someone so toxic in their life.
Third reply: I've checked your posting history OP and it doesn't stack up that you feel warm.
Fourth reply: you're showing off, I'm living in a stable with no water or heating.
Fifth reply: my husband who earns six figures came back from his hobby (outing) and said its cold, I think you should give your head a wobble.
Sixth reply: can't you spell OP. Even my baby who is 43 months can spell.

Skinnermarink · 24/03/2023 21:55

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

YourTruthorMine · 24/03/2023 22:00

Tattle is far less toxic than Mumsnet. Entiltled celebrity culture is out of control and Tattle is one of the few places that allows free speech. Mumsnet unfortunately has a tribe of not very nice people who dictate what we can and can't discuss

Anycolouryoulike · 24/03/2023 22:03

Tattle

'look at that crap outfit, doesn't she own an iron?'
'can't she hoover her carpet, just what sort of woman is she?
'her mirror needs cleaning, I'm a much better housewife than her'

And on and so on.

This.

Sadly Mumsnet can be one of the most toxic sites around. Its worse than Twitter sometimes and it's absolutely chock full of fantasists pretending to have jobs that mean they have expert knowledge on things that they really know nothing about.

There's also a lot of really nice people that are kind and helpful, just annoying that there are so many arseholes.

You sound rather entitled. I feel sorry for your dcs. Are you normally this abusive?

(😉)

I cannot believe anyone is defending Tattle. The argument that they are nice to one another ... give me strength - they are because they are united in their bile & viciousness, against many many people.

I knew about it but not much about the actual content, until fairly recently. In the past few weeks on the MN Tattle thread they were disgustingly offensive about a longtime MN poster whose DD was seriously ill and sadly died. The mocking & laughing (they believed it was untrue) was sickening. The cross-pollination of posters meant some of the same awfulness was repeated here on MN, to the distress of the poster. Since then I have really grappled with using MN at all, and yet there is good, informative, supportive & funny content here, too.

I'm not being funny but you yourself have been vile to many posters yourself! Real vitriolic and condescending!

Stugs · 24/03/2023 22:18

I've never read tattle before but have just read some of the Mumsnet posts and I'm afraid to say some of them are.spot on and quite funny 😁

I've not been on Tattle but I occasionally have a gander at this thread on S&B, I'm sure they are lovely ladies but tbf I've had similar thoughts. Some of the mirrors and carpets really are filthy 🤷

Oh noes. They need to up their housewife skills.

Matildapower · 24/03/2023 22:23

The threads about mn are spot on

Anycolouryoulike · 24/03/2023 23:01

And the threads about Tattle on MN are spot on. If they can't take it, don't dish it out.

They slag off MN. MN slags them off. They can't cry about it, if they spend all their time SS MN threads to rip to bits what do they expect?

Stugs · 24/03/2023 23:05

Honestly the tattle threads didn't seem half as nasty as it can be on here. Admittedly I've only read a few pages of one thread.

You sound about 8
Who cares what someone from another forum thinks about Mumsnet?

And who cares about what MN thinks about Tattle... oh wait.

newjobnewstartihope · 24/03/2023 23:35

I couldn't care less about that either so I'm not sure why you are crying about it

ItsBeginningToScabOverNow · 24/03/2023 23:39

A lot of posters make it sounds like websites are schools and you only go to one.

There are loads of people who use both Tattle and MN. Just because someone might not post “ugh, the state of that mirror” on MN, doesn’t mean they’re not thinking it (or posting it on Tattle).

You clearly do. And tbh , so what? Just stop pretending Tattle is so caring and kind. It's not and neither is MN.

Both have their fair share of arse holes.

newjobnewstartihope · 25/03/2023 00:04

I don't think any website is fully caring and kind unless it's something like gardeners world

No, you are right. I follow a few house decorating groups on Facebook and even they can be really cutting and intimidating!!
