And if not, it looks as though I've hidden it. Can anyone tell me how to unhide it?

Kate had a lot of help. She didn’t have to go traipsing all alone with a child and toddler in tow

DogBowlsAreMyWeapon · 09/01/2023 21:57

Justin Welby? You know AofC - married them 3 days before. Except he had to issue a denial.

P22 · 09/01/2023 21:58

Yes, who is Justin?

She’d just had a baby.

I just heard that Harry is claiming they never said the royals were racist now.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 09/01/2023 22:01

Thanks @LilyMumsnet is there any explanation of what happened? It does all seem a bit odd.

Was Kate in Norfolk at time of the texts because Meghan tells her to go to Kensington Palace to get the dress altered. If so then I can understand Kate's frustration. An unplanned rush from Norfolk to central London with a newborn wouldn't be welcomed.

I wondered this too. She gave birth in London but they may have retreated to Amner Hall to be away from the hustle and bustle. Based on the screenshots, Kate was a short and Meghan was rude and talked down at Kate. Kate didn't say anything rude as such in these messages and suggesting to have the dresses remade sounds reasonable if there were many things that needed to be altered as has been explained on this thread. The situation was not handled well and both women could have used some help. Who was Meghan's chiefs brides maid? Should she not have supported Meghan? In Kate's place I would have handed this whole thing over to Granny Carol.

goodbyestranger · 09/01/2023 22:23

No, at the time of the texts she'd had a baby three whole weeks prior - a normal birth - and had all the help anyone could possibly need on hand - a nanny for George, cleaners left right and centre, other lackeys to shop etc etc. Also her mum who appears to be pretty hands on. She had nothing to do at all beyond tell someone else to take Charlotte to Kensington Palace to have alterations. She was just out to cause trouble, clearly.

An explanation would be nice to have . It's a bit of a worry that it was the RF topic that disappeared where some believe bots are at work, not style and beauty , not the litter tray , not aibu, not chat etc

Blossomtoes · 09/01/2023 22:31

Wow. Three whole weeks before. It might be a long time since I had a baby but I don’t remember feeling anything like myself at that point. My hormones were all over the place. The amount of help is irrelevant if your body’s misbehaving.

goodbyestranger · 09/01/2023 22:31

And Blossomtoes before you ask me if I realise that three weeks is not a lot of time post partum then yes I do have postpartum experience with eight DC born across twelve years with the British Army in its wisdom requiring me (no option) to move across continents and countries (with no help whatsoever) within weeks after DC1, DC2, DC3 and DC4 were born, regardless of intensive care, major postpartum haemorrhages etc. Three weeks after a normal birth with no complications and endless help is plenty of time to recover.

tobee · 09/01/2023 22:33

Even Style & Beauty has had some naughty attention elsewhere recently. Nothing is sacred. Sad

goodbyestranger · 09/01/2023 22:35

Crossed post.

It sounds more as though Kate had too much time on her hands and was bored, so thought she'd create problems for a new SIL that she looked down on (for reasons I don't quite get....) and was jealous of (according to Harry and the press at the time, which was reporting 'tensions' between the two women and strongly suggesting that Kate was put out by the attention that Meghan was getting).

pinneddownbytabbies · 09/01/2023 22:41

One of my bridesmaid's dresses didn't fit very well. Her grandma rang me and asked if it was okay to alter it a bit and I said yes, thank you. Job done, no drama.

If that's your experience, I feel sorry for you, that sounds totally inhumane. 🤔
How can we know if Kate had complications or not, maybe she had a CS, sitches or baby blues? Or Louis struggled with breastfeeding? We can only speculate. Harry, however, is being very pretty and unkind to his wonderful SIL. He has burnt his bridges, hasn't he? Kate and her family will never forgive them. Carol must be feeling very protective of her daughter and grandchildren and fuming right now.

I agree @BrushingDog. I simply can’t believe that he’s attacked both Catherine and Camilla like this then protests that he loves his family and wants to be reconciled with his father and brother. How does that fit with attacking their wives?

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 09/01/2023 22:51

You do all realise the topic is open? You don’t have to clog this thread up with arguing and “witty” poetry.

3 weeks pp after normal birth is fine especially when you have a nanny or two and servants to ferry your kids around 😂

senua · 09/01/2023 23:02

I'm totally speculating but I can imagine Kate asking repeatedly for weeks about the bridesmaids' dresses, especially if she was trying to arrange it before she popped. And then, only four days before the event, they found out they didn't fit. If that was you, wouldn't you send a told you so similarly terse message?

Lovely and far better and most importantly more comfortable, with tights!

Absolutely hideous

Antigonads · 09/01/2023 23:14

8 children whilst serving in the army? Wow.
