Dear MNHQ, For the benefit of the MAJORITY of users, can we have a sticky please?

At the top of the For Sale Board, setting out the etiquette of 1) Putting a relatively descriptive thread title of the item being sold (will make it far easier to search for what MNers need, and 2) Not to bump their thread so much that it blasts all other For Sale threads into oblivion.

It seems that there are some halfwits picturetrailers on the For Sale boards who are trampling all over decent MNers struggling to self-regulate and respect others' wishes in order to make it accessible to everyone.

see here.... Although I suspect you've been closely moderately said thread....

Thank you

whomoved! pmsl. have you seen CD's fabulous line 'they have wankered our manor'? it's not even important what she's talking about, isn't it divine?

katierocket · 22/01/2008 21:45

Shouldn't Olivia be off having a baby rather than bothering with this?

VVVQV · 22/01/2008 21:48

I think it's a bit too heavy duty for catherine, bless her

Sad
katierocket · 22/01/2008 21:50

Ah I see, so Olivia is dragged back, heavily pregnant to referee the fight?

expatinscotland · 22/01/2008 21:51

when it would be easier just to get rid of it altogether .

whomovedmychocolate · 22/01/2008 21:51

It's fabulous. Aitch!

Wanna buy a slightly soiled fairy hammock....awww come on hun, only touched by seven dirty hands this week. I've kept the original bag.

Bump. Bump. Bump. (the sound of three less sellers on the streets and one more trip to the carwash for WMMC)

Peachy · 22/01/2008 21:53

Agree with banning the bumps- and if they were banned they wouldn't be necessary would they because there wouldn't be this constant squabbling for the top of the for sale board place. Bumpiong creates a self fulfilling prophecy on that one.

And an automatic lifelong ban for anyone selling snot coloured buggies. Or anyone who posts variations on 'Hi Hun, I have to sell my snot coloured vomitaboo slug because Dh got annoyed that I built the extension to house all 77 buggies lol , please make me an offer- oh and if anyone has a sepsis shaded sickaboo-pod with optional diarrhoea colured trim, I would like to buy please'

theyoungvisiter · 22/01/2008 21:55

he he - sorry but rofl at the banning of bumps on a pregnancy board! (struck me as curiously inapt)

Peachy · 22/01/2008 21:57

Can see your point theyoungvisitor (even though its a parenting board not pregnancy)- being in possession of a rather alrge 30 weeker bump meself.

theyoungvisiter · 22/01/2008 21:59

I'll buy your sepsis shaded sickaboo-pod with optional diarrhoea coloured trim, hun. How much do u want for it hun xx

Peachy · 22/01/2008 22:03

Can you send me a parcel of cash for£333333333 to my unconfirmed address at dodgybuggytradersrus, Pentonville Prison, London please? ta Hun XXXX

Peachy · 22/01/2008 22:07

(should emphasise thats not an accusation of anybody- but you just can't know, can you? sad recent events have shown that)

madamez · 22/01/2008 22:10

I would have thought that bumping your For Sale thread once every couple of days would be reasonable given that the MNer who actually might like what you are offering might only go online every other day or something. And I still don't think it's a terrible sin to want to sell, say, a dozen worn but usable t-shirts and want to get maybe £1.50 on top of the postage for the whole lot.

MyManorIsWankered · 22/01/2008 22:12

I've made myself laugh

controlfreakygobshite · 22/01/2008 22:17

you've made me laugh

Aitch · 22/01/2008 22:18

me neither, madamez. is someone saying that it is? has the guidelines thread been pinned yet, can anyone see? (i stopped pins cos of christmas bah humbug).

MyManorIsWankered · 22/01/2008 22:19

Gawd but we love a ruck on MN

Aitch · 22/01/2008 22:21

i like a ruck but a pile-on is tiring. just ask madamez, she knows.

Prufrock · 22/01/2008 22:23

Can't we make it so that you can't have links on a for sale thread. Then we wouldn't have anybody doing endless "look at my picturetrail hun" and each thread could only show one picture. Then limit the threads one could start per week - so still useable for the regular mumsnetter who wants to pass on her old highchair etc to another mumsnetter for a small consideration, but painful enough for anybody selling for real profit to go elsewhere.

(And I can, and do, ignore the ant farm, but buying and selling used to be a useful function for real mumsnetters)

MyManorIsWankered · 22/01/2008 22:26

Aitch, you know who I am, right?

I know All About pile-ons!

I think you were treated appallingly today, but as I said, to be adored by the huns would be far more worrying.

Aitch · 22/01/2008 22:34

i thought i knew who you were... i was going by the mouse feedback.

Oh, WAAAAAH! Look, the reason for using something like Picturetrail (and I have just done a mighty battle with the f thing to make it stop showing me stupid adverts for online scams and load my f pictures) is that, if you have a (for instance) batch of outgrown clothes to sell then you want to show a picture of each item rather than one blurred bundle, yet the MN facility only allows you to upload one picture at a time.
