Dear MNHQ, For the benefit of the MAJORITY of users, can we have a sticky please?

At the top of the For Sale Board, setting out the etiquette of 1) Putting a relatively descriptive thread title of the item being sold (will make it far easier to search for what MNers need, and 2) Not to bump their thread so much that it blasts all other For Sale threads into oblivion.

It seems that there are some halfwits picturetrailers on the For Sale boards who are trampling all over decent MNers struggling to self-regulate and respect others' wishes in order to make it accessible to everyone.

see here.... Although I suspect you've been closely moderately said thread....

Thank you

my goodness that thread is disturbing - are you feeling shaken, Aitch?

I once tried to buy something on a For Sale thread but try as I might I could not get a clear description of the item. So I didn't.

Fimbo · 22/01/2008 17:19

And they don't have Ebay fees.

Fimbo · 22/01/2008 17:20

I have bought stuff but not from the Picturetrailing Huns, just normal posters.

madamez · 22/01/2008 17:20

Aww, Aitch! You poor thing. Shall I nip over there and flush all their heads down the bog for you?
(can you tell I spent half my weekend making a silly film about school roleplay?)

LadyOfTheCauliFlowers · 22/01/2008 17:21

I have always agreed with that Fimbo. You should be a member for a certain period of time first so you cannot join simply to sell.
I once said if you do not 'contribute' to MN as a whole you should not be allowed to sell and was flamed as the huns have their own little chats in 'for sale'

Fimbo · 22/01/2008 17:24

Its so much easier here for them than Ebay as they can just leave an email address and don't even have to pay for CAT/CAM

AllieBongo · 22/01/2008 17:25

most welcome Aitch. I buy and sell on here, but from names I recognise. ROFL at picuretrailing huns!

VictorianSqualor · 22/01/2008 17:28

They are silly billys.

ItsNeverTooEarlyForPopcorn · 22/01/2008 17:29

Poor Aitch. Cor blimey, it's a whole different forum on the For Sale topic. As far as I could see, the advice Aitch was dispensing would only help the seller.

oh well. There you go.

VVVQV · 22/01/2008 17:34

Thanks Olivia

It's ruining MN as far as I am concerned, and I think their behaviour towards aitch was utterly disgusting.

It isnt benefitting the members as a whole, just a select, money-grabbing-low-moralled few.

It certainly isnt benefitting MNHQ. I agree with a waiting period before being able to sell, and a limit of threads they can start in the topic for those who only post on the For Sale boards (who don't click on ads, do reviews, etc, or contribute to the community).

I'm all for enterprise and opportunism, but not at the expense of others. It's a parasitic relationship at the moment.

They've had the opportunity to self police and are choosing not to !

expatinscotland · 22/01/2008 17:38

i would like to sell some things on this board, but the one time i tried someone pure tried to take the biscuit.

FWIW, i think it should be restricted to selling baby and children's clothing and items and not the rack at Debenham's, BNWT, natch.

and a fee to sell if you're not a subscriber.

tbh, it's of concern that some may be using MN as a fence.

VictorianSqualor · 22/01/2008 17:45

Tell 'em all to take a hike, each person on MN can do one thread per week in the for sale topic, and the title has to be specific, if not it gets reported and deleted.

No more than three bumps a day, morning, noon and night, if not it gets reported and deleted.

And Yes, I shall happily stalk the for sale boards to report them, so dont you worry your pretty little heads about that.

fullmoonfiend · 22/01/2008 17:45

VicSqual-:

Is it really worth arguing about?
VS: yes!

Is anyone going to get hurt, or anything going to get broken?
VS: they sure are!

No? then count to ten, and chill out.
VS: one-hun-two-hun-three-hun-four-hun-five-hun-six-hun-seven-hun-eight-hun-nine-hun-ten!
Nope, I'm still mad!

Loving your work although slightly fearful.
