Dear MN Towers, could we consider moving the Buying and selling listings to a separate board?

i think the whole thing is childish, get on with it or get over it

Flier · 17/01/2008 17:58

I never understood or liked the hun thing. In Scotland, Hun means something else entirely.........

You would though wouldnt you mummyof2boys, you're all over the sale threads so it's you we're talking about effectively.

Don't think it's fair that the for sale threads have been monopolised by people who only or mainly(I know you actually do venture onto the other boards unlike many sellers) use MN for profit myself.

Whizzz · 17/01/2008 18:03

took me ages to type out my post & no ones even commented on it

VictorianSqualor · 17/01/2008 18:04

Whizzz, I agree

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 17/01/2008 18:07

Will someone please just ANSWER MY QUESTION?

How would having a separate board help?

You can just ignore the topics anyway.

Thank you

VictorianSqualor · 17/01/2008 18:11

I dont think we should have a seperate board, there needs to be a limit, or something so that normal posters arent swallowed up in the quagmire of 'I neeeeeed to make £5438542857285 in paypal by five minutes ago, I have 17 prams for sale'.

Whizzz · 17/01/2008 18:12

I don't think a separate board would help to be honest. I just think people who want to sell things should just stick to a few basic rules. ie. not bump every half hour, accept that if something has been listed for sale & no one has posted on it - then no one wants it (!), start multiple threads about the same items & there should be a limit on how much money can be charged etc

hunkermunker · 17/01/2008 18:13

There was a thread a while back where regulars could post links for their own for sale item threads on here.

Think it was in Other Subjects.

Can't be arsed to search for it.

LIZS · 17/01/2008 18:15

tbh think Buying and Selling on here has had its day . Creates more aggravation than most other topics and there is always ebay et al.

Whizzz · 17/01/2008 18:16

I flipped when I saw some of the sale boards wanting to start a separate chat forum to list 'trusted MNers' & I assume black listed ones (!) so that feedback wouldn't be lost as it is off MN after a set time limit

137wallis · 17/01/2008 18:19

but it only causes aggrevation when threads like this are started, you can choose not to see it if you don't want to, I don't see what the problem with the board is just the way some people use it, but thats the same with anything, you wouldn't ban the pregnancy thread because you weren't pregnant and someone choose to post 15 different threads

Aitch · 17/01/2008 18:20

dunno, if you come on here as a newbie and press active convos you get a lunatic free-for-all of picturetrails and begging letters... i think that's why it would be good to move it to a separate board. it's not representative of what MN has to offer, and should be scythed off.

Aero · 17/01/2008 18:20

How about an allowance of two free selling posts per member per month and anything over and above could incur a charge per thread, in For Sale topic. That should be plenty for the regulars to sell small bits and pieces and would possibly put off the members who are only here to sell stuff.

Flier · 17/01/2008 18:22

how about not having the for sale board simply not within active convos, permanently, for everyone

VictorianSqualor · 17/01/2008 18:23

I agree with Aero, if there was a seperate topic for it too, then we could ignore the constant sellers and just see the people who were just using their allocation.

BexieID · 17/01/2008 18:23

The seperate feedback forum was just an idea to protect ourselves a little from the scammers thats all.

Aitch · 17/01/2008 18:23

sure, that might work.

hunkermunker · 17/01/2008 18:24

Can't there be a link up top (next to Games) for For Sale?

Then the huns et al could have all the for sale threads they like and nobody need venture on there if they didn't want. Then MN would be able to claim their hits and nobody would stumble across an illiterate active convo board full of !!!!!!!!My Pramz 4 sale, plz look hunz, lol xxx!!!!!!!!! with such informative posts as "bump" on them.

Aitch · 17/01/2008 18:29

yep, then they can all pass round the same increasingly scunnered buggy...

Flier · 17/01/2008 18:30

hunker, I wish you hadn't mentioned "games" I'd never seen it before and clicked on it. Now I can see myslef becoming addicted to that

Mummyof2boys · 17/01/2008 18:30

so what if i am all over the sale boards? thats cos thats the forum i use and have helped a lot of mums by passing on my stuff and not to "make a profit" i have given a lot of it away and made a lot of friends. its post like these that bring it down and obviously those who are in it to rip people off. it is unfair those who bump every 2 seconds so no one else gets a chance, but thats the way it is and people get on with it. I want to know why so many people who dont even use the for sale boards are bothered about what goes on???

hunkermunker · 17/01/2008 18:32

Don't worry hun their out 2 get u lol xxx
