It's happened about 9 times today and 3 times yesterday. SO annoying !!! Please fix it

No better for me - desktop & Chrome. It is especially bad on long threads with more than around 200 posts. You try to scroll down and the screen just won't move - it locks up completely and you get the little blue wheel of doom.

Could you follow these instructions when you have a moment? support.google.com/chrome/answer/95669?hl=en-GB&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

Tried that, but it says
If you're getting the 'Aw, Snap' error or another error code instead of a web page, Chrome is having problems loading. You may also see the page loading slowly or not opening at all.
which isn't what is happening.
What I get is, part way through typing a post, it suddenly takes itself scrolling back up to the top of the page, and any words / sentences already typed, have disappeared when you scroll down to the message box again. It stays on MN, but it is like it has returned to when you first opened the thread.

LilyMumsnet · 05/07/2022 18:43

Thanks, Kite.
We're still trying to sort a fix for this but we will update as soon as we can.

Datun · 06/07/2022 01:40

Although the crashing has improved overall it's still happening on, for instance, the 'break it down for me' thread on FWR. In fact I cant navigate the thread at all without it crashing.

Maybe because it's very long and very content heavy?

HebeMumsnet · 06/07/2022 09:26

Hi Datun,

Yes, the longer threads definitely seem to be more of an issue. While we're finding the fix for it, we are finding that setting your 'view posts' to 25 or 50 per page rather than 1000 is preventing some of the crashes. Annoying if you prefer to scroll through and not wait for new pages to load, but it might be a temporary work around until it's properly sorted.

After being OK for about a week, page once again just crashed while I was in the middle of composing a post. Surely there shouldn't even be any code running while I'm typing?

Can we just check how many posts per page you're viewing?

Athenajm80 · 13/07/2022 23:58

Mine is still doing it on the app. You're right though, it does appear to be on the longer threads but it's so annoying, especially when I'm reading the thread for the first time so have read squillions of responses and then it crashes so I either have to start the thread again, or just give up.

I will try to film it somehow if you would still like that proof. Nothing happens though except the screen goes white and then I'm back to the app with a refreshed list of active threads

MarshaMelrose · 14/07/2022 00:06

I'm on a Samsung phone, using chrome. 25 post to a page. The pages freeze or the posts disappear completely and the page goes white.

Yes!! This is my problem!!!
has been my problem since ‘the new better improved site’!

Memyselfandfood · 14/07/2022 07:21

Im on ios.

Willowkins · 14/07/2022 07:34

This is happening to me too. I'm on a Nokia G10. Also, when you press see next or see all, nothing happens. I'd think it was buffering except that I don't even see the line at the top of the page. I've reduced the number of posts per page but it doesn't help.

WinterMusings · 14/07/2022 07:39

@LilyMumsnet

it still keeps crashing on me too. I'm getting really fed up of composing a post only to lose it.

still on iPhone, latest iOS. I don't have 'pages' so unlimited or whatever it is.

i hope it can be fixed soon, I'm losing the will!!

and again, can someone please look into the non capitalisation at the beginning of a paragraph. It's working mid paragraph now. It's a simple fix.

thanks.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 15/07/2022 14:48

Thanks, everyone for your patience - we know it's probably running out at this stage but we're really keen to get to the bottom of it. We're currently trying to replicate the issue and so it would really help if you could share the URL of the page that's crashed. Thank you.

Craftycorvid · 15/07/2022 21:55

IPhone Safari user - site is nearly unusable at the moment. Continuously crashing with the message ‘a problem repeatedly occurred’.

Athenajm80 · 16/07/2022 23:01

No URL as it's on the app for some of us. It happens on long threads for me, like the Cap'n thread in Litter Tray

Willowkins · 17/07/2022 10:37

Just an update: I've switched to Edge and it works much better than Chrome.

Yarnasaurus · 17/07/2022 10:46

I'm getting this daily on the Ukraine thread.

Page randomly doesn't fully load, refreshes and takes me back to the beginning or end, or to some random spot on the thread. Refreshing the page sometimes works, but sometimes it all just freezes and I have to re-load the site.

I'm on 1000 posts a page as the ability to switch on thread was removed in the update.

iPhone, Safari, latest iOS.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 18/07/2022 13:32

Since the update MN is unusable. Pages freeze, don’t load, ads cause the pages to float. It’s not worth the effort. Im out.

LilyMumsnet · 18/07/2022 17:36

Thanks all, we really do appreciate the extra information being provided here.
We will continue to keep you updated on this issue. Flowers

Throckmorton · 18/07/2022 18:24

I have this issue with evey single MN page I load - galaxy phone. I'm using MN much much less these days as its become unusable. Sorry MN.

Throckmorton · 18/07/2022 20:36

Just as bad with the settings set to only 25 posts. This one just crashed on me: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4592473-rats-in-garden

DobbyTheHouseElk · 19/07/2022 06:59

I’m on iPad safari if it helps you. But I doubt it will.

I feel like MN is dying a slow death.
