The new platform is really not working well - you only have to look at the list of complaints on Site Stuff

... many (most?) of which are not being addressed by MNHQ.

Come on! It's been some time now since you launched the new platform, and while a smooth transition is probably too much to expect, very little seems to be improving since the launch.

WTAF is going on? When can we expect all the things you're promising to actually happen?

I have come back for the 3rd week to see if anything has changed to make the website useable but no - I have sent a screen shot for the 3rd time but it all seems a bit pointless. The ability to actually view and read a thread is even worse now - would you bother with a site where the page looked like the screen shot attached Mumsnet? Probably 50% of that page is blank space, not techy but how can anyone think that is an optimal layout? For a full thread You would have to scroll a 100k times.

They posted on multiple threads to say it was an app issue and that they were awaiting approval from Apple.

Not to be nit-picky but they really didn't.

I reported the issue as soon as it happened

For days all they said was they were looking into it & to be patient - and didn't even do that regularly.

I was on at least 4 threads about it & they 💯 did not say it was an app issue & they were waiting for Apple. Maybe there were other threads where they did but not the ones I was on.

Late one evening they said there was an app update planned but didn't update known issues so people kept posting unsure, and it was other posters who checked it out & advised on the threads when it was fixed.

It's just a continuously bad way to communicate.

JaneJeffer · 18/05/2022 19:59

There was no communication between the different administrators so that didn't help matters.

Three issues driving me mad:

  1. If a partial tag is typed, even if incorrect, it's impossible to correct it. @BIWI
Lougle · 18/05/2022 20:08

Point in case ^ I couldn't delete BIWI's tag.

  1. Bookmarks aren't bookmarks. There is no way that I'm going to go to threads I'm on and re-enter the thread. We never had to do it before. The old platform managed change of bookmark just fine.
  1. The empty carriage returns at the end of the post still persist. (I'll demonstrate).

4 Often you can't add a carriage return at the end of a line but this seems to depend on which board we're posting on. This thread is fine. The low-carb bootcamp thread makes me have to type the words for the next line, move my cursor back, then hit the return button.

  1. Images are useless. The thumbnail is blurred and the expanded photo is tiny.
  1. The rendering of the emojis is horrible. They're really blurred.

Samsung S10 Chrome, mobile web page.

They wouldn't have known when the update would be available. Apple doesn't say - it just takes as long as it takes.

They posted on multiple threads to say it was an app issue and that they were awaiting approval from Apple. There was no solution other than to wait for an app update.

Should the problem have happened? No, of course it shouldn't.

But they did post to say they were awaiting approval from Apple in multiple places.

Well ok then, what are you on about? As the other poster said MNHQ communication has been shocking re all these issues.

It's not ok for mods to abandon the threads they set up in order to communicate with users. It's not ok to leave users waiting so long to hear back about their concerns.

MN is a big enough beast that there should have been something in place, even if that meant a team to reply to people's questions as best they could rather than sticking their head in the sand and pretending we aren't there till we go away Hmm

Hi - yes screenshots helpful as it’s not behaving the same way for everyone. We know there’s an issue here and we’re looking at it but it’s really helpful to see what you are seeing so we can make sure we fix it right. Thanks.

I am not cashorbanktransfer, and I cannot do screenshots, but if the text-link picture on which I click hoping for a better view of it is 5cm wide by 4cm tall, the picture when I click contains slightly more lines of text and is 9cm wide by 8cm tall. It is still not possible to read the text except with a magnifying glass.

This is probably an accessibility issue really. And it used not to be what happened.

I am using Mozilla Firefox on a 24" screen desktop machine, and the website.

Same machine and set-up; an image with 18 lines of text in a column 4.5cm high, 3.5cm wide.

I don't think me trying to read this text would be sensible.

Lots of server errors today.
Messages giving a 'message empty' error when trying to post.
Pictures still post sideways using Android Chrome.
Threads not found error for a thread in AIBU

LegsOfJelly · 21/05/2022 14:57

@SueMumsnet another thing I forgot to mention is that mumsnet keeps freezing and then I can't exit the page. Again on an android device..

I'd also like to echo the comments by other users above re bookmarks, this is really annoying.

DragonwithoutaDungeon · 21/05/2022 21:18

If I have more than one notification it won't let me r-click, open in a new tab anymore. This is getting ridiculous and I am fed up.
