It's about time you gave us a new update, MNHQ

The new platform is really not working well - you only have to look at the list of complaints on Site Stuff

... many (most?) of which are not being addressed by MNHQ.

Come on! It's been some time now since you launched the new platform, and while a smooth transition is probably too much to expect, very little seems to be improving since the launch.

WTAF is going on? When can we expect all the things you're promising to actually happen?

formatting issues in the app - we are releasing an update to the app - hopefully today - we are just awaiting approval from apple

Well, that's nice for apple users. Constantly pisses me off that Android users are treated like the poor relation.

Android app still isn't working correctly regarding links and Threads I'm Watching/On aren't refreshing like they used to.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 17/05/2022 14:16

It seems to me that the best way to deal with a large business may not be responding individually to each dissatisfied customer; it might be better to see what the issues regularly reported are and then fixing them, then telling everyone what was wrong and how it has been fixed.

This mess happened four weeks ago today, on 19/04/2022. None of the issues I had with it on the first day has yet been sorted out, and that is only me: there have been literally hundreds of reports by other people of things which happen not to be wrong for me, or don't matter enough for me to bother to mention them.

Yes, it is jolly nice to be able easily to embolden, underline, cross out or italicise words, but I don't regard that single improvement as a fair exchange for all the dis-improvements that have come with it. And the fact that the old way of doing it also seems to work (and in this example has worked) and leads to these text changes being implemented inadvertently is simply daft. (on the other hand, if the use of a * touching the word after it leads to bold text thereafter, that might explain one of your glitches...)

WHAT NEWS OF THE TEENY TINY PRINT IN LINKS? IS ANYTHING BEING DONE ABOUT THIS? That one I know is not just me.

EarringsandLipstick · 17/05/2022 14:27

then telling everyone what was wrong and how it has been fixed.

And that's exactly what MN are doing so badly - or, not at all.
Just no clear communication

Hi @BoreOfWhabylon the thread is fixed now - the tech team are struggling to work out why it happens (it happens v intermittently) so would be really useful if next time it happens we could speak to the poster who did the post that knocked the thread off course...to try and work out what is causing it. Would be really helpful if anyone was willing to do this....thank you!

Thanks very much @SueMumsnet it looks fine now! Flowers

debwong · 17/05/2022 15:36

Thanks for your replies, @SueMumsnet

I must sound like a broken record but I wonder if there is any progress on fixing the notifications of new posts on watched threads that still take me to the very first post. I'm using Firefox on desktop.

Greensleeves · 17/05/2022 15:39

Are we doing anything about photos being minute? You used to be able to click on someone's photo and see a nice enlarged version with plenty of detail. Now it's pretty much the same as the thumbnail Confused

Hi @debwong - is that on email notifications or on site notifications (the little red dot)?

Yes we definitely want to sort this - if you have a screenshot of what it looks like for you that would be really helpful in getting it sorted. Thank you!

On-site notifications, the red dot with numbers next to "My Mumsnet".

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/05/2022 16:25

Hi @SueMumsnet . I'm using laptop, Microsoft Edge. Normal site. Not trying to complicate the issue, but I was using Google Chrome when my ghostly notification first appeared, but it's still on there now. Have been forced to change browser due to a windows 11 update that has rendered google chrome currently unusable.

cashorbanktransfer · 17/05/2022 23:36

MN have you not seen the issue with the size of the photos? Many people have posted about it and only today/above you ask for an example of the problem!! I have messaged several times without reply. The issue is that the photo is too small to view even when you click on it.

The saddest thing of all this is that the new changes make MN less accessible for those with vision/mobility issues etc and there is no response to my messages asking how this is being addressed to at least ensure MN is no worse since the changes. It would have been nice if the changes had improved things!!

StillNoCloser · 17/05/2022 23:59

Hi, when will you be changing the date display to read Today and Yesterday?

margegunderson · 18/05/2022 00:10

@SueMumsnet i can’t post from the iPhone app - it’s bang up to date. I just get a message saying it didn’t work, try again. Repeatedly. So I’ve come on to the web browser on my phone to post this. Surely I’m not the only one with this problem?

Blimeyherewegoagain · 18/05/2022 00:21

I use the mobile site on Safari. I have my phone set so that after 10pm websites have a black background. Why does yours not support this simple thing? Even with the brightness turned down I’m not desperately happy about having my eyeballs fried when I’m Mumsnetting my way through my insomnia. 😕

DragonwithoutaDungeon · 18/05/2022 09:30

SueMumsnet · 17/05/2022 09:39

@DragonwithoutaDungeon I'm trying to solve the Firefox/PMs issue. I have just downloaded Firefox and can see my PMs fine, which is really annoying.

Is there any chance you could post some screenshots of what you're seeing?

Also - can you let me know what version of Firefox it is that you're using - I'm on 100.0.1. You can get this if you click on "About Firefox" in the navigation bar at the top. Also, is it a PC or a Mac that you're using?

Sorry for questions, but any answers you can give are hugely helpful in enabling us to track down the issue.

Sue I'm so sorry I'm really not trying to be difficult but I can't even screen shot because 1) I can't get the function button to work & 2) there would be nothing to see. I have the notification for 3 PMs but if I go to my inbox all I see is old opened PMs.

I'm on a Windows Laptop and (sorry I'm such a tit!) I'm actually using Google Chrome - got confused, used to be firefox! sorry.

Hi @LegsOfJelly yep we’re looking into this issue - you said you’re using Samsung Mobile - which browser are you using?

Hi - yes screenshots helpful as it’s not behaving the same way for everyone. We know there’s an issue here and we’re looking at it but it’s really helpful to see what you are seeing so we can make sure we fix it right. Thanks.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 18/05/2022 14:32

EarringsandLipstick · 17/05/2022 13:55

It did. And I'm delighted.

Nearly a week later.

And their only way of communicating on it was to reply to some of the threads posted about it. No proper central communications.

There's a long thread of the Known Issues which was where we were supposed to post. People were doing so but until yesterday, MNHQ had just stopped responding.

It's just so unprofessional.

In all fairness MNHQ could have resolved the issue with the app straight away - we don't know. But Apple can take up to a week to approve an update so it might have been fixed and they were waiting for it to be approved?

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 18/05/2022 15:21

Is anyone else finding the new site really glitchy? I forgot my password when the changeover happened and as my email address was a work one (which I then left) I couldn't get it emailed there. I then went on holiday and had a MN break and signed up again today.

But am finding it a bit glitchy like if I sign in from another browser it returns a strange message.

EarringsandLipstick · 18/05/2022 15:28

We don't, that's right. If that was the case, they could have told us, told us the solution & date fix would be available.

They didn't.

They didn't.

They wouldn't have known when the update would be available. Apple doesn't say - it just takes as long as it takes.

They posted on multiple threads to say it was an app issue and that they were awaiting approval from Apple. There was no solution other than to wait for an app update.

Should the problem have happened? No, of course it shouldn't.

But they did post to say they were awaiting approval from Apple in multiple places.
