Can we please have a MN Classic option for those who can't cope with the changes?

Would it be so difficult to have a MN Classic option - which we have always had, and which some of us have been using since the original format change - for posters who find the changing format difficult? There are many posters with neurodiversity, for example, who will probably stop posting here because it all abruptly looks and feels wrong

I don't like it either. I'm visually impaired and knew where everything was before and now it's glaringly white, can't do view all, can't find anything and can't see enough to find out where things have gone to and it's given me a headache. MSE did the same thing a year or so ago and I went from being on there every day to once or twice a year as I just couldn't use it any more. I love mumsnet and hate that I'll have to leave because of these changes.

Yes please ! I have been fighting my way through it with it being all wrong and unpleasant and earlier I realised I’ll just have to stop browsing if it is a permanent change (I thought it might be a glitch). Am neurodivergent so wondered if that is why I can’t handle it, but glad to see I am not the only one.

@JustineMumsnet - would it be possible to change the ‘Last Hour’ list to a similar format to the previous one - where threads are grouped into the different sub categories - so it is easier to find the topics we are interested in? I find the new, random list confusing and difficult to read.

It also updates very, very quickly, so threads with new posts can drop off the first page in minutes - this makes it very frustrating to use, because you can see two threads that pique your interest, click on one and read it, then click the ‘Back’ arrow on the browser, to read the other thread, and it has vanished.

Ahh ok thanks, I will have to manage without. It was so useful though

I’m ND, I’ve been on MN since 2004 and I honestly can’t see what the problem with the new format is at all. I think it’s much nicer and less clunky. Times change…

I thought it was just me who got a headache from all the white glare and grey till I went into Site Stuff.

The 3 posts per laptop screen is annoying. Why all the space? Most features I use are still there but I preferred the Bump & Reset option for TIW.

I've used MN Classic for the last 2 decades and there have been tweaks to that but nothing that has made me actually close MN down as I did earlier.

@Ihatethenewlook you can save your password on here, I had to relog on myself today but it remembered my password so that was great.

Yes. This. Horrible unfortunately.

I honestly can’t put my finger on it but the bolding of user names is like a finger in my eye and the spread of stuff makes it so unreadable

To view all posts, hit the three dots at the bottom right of a post and you can see a view all posts option.

I can't get to my PMs. I can open them but then an error screen covers them up, which I can remove for about two seconds, but then it comes back again. I can even reply to a message using this method, but only by typing one letter at a time.......😬

Don't like new format either, not easy on the eyes, much better as it was, spread out across the screen and not in a tiny column.

I’ve said it on another thread but will say it here, why oh why is there so much ‘dead’ space as someone else has said I can only see three posts at a time!!!! For a 1000 posts that is a lot of scrolling

I find it fairly unusable

The overlay of extra spaces, lines, highlights and bold means I can’t really access it without a headache

I doubt it can be changed back, tbh I don’t mind if it stays though

It looks awful on my desktop PC. This is with Firefox.

3/4 of the screen is just empty with a small column of posts down the middle.

That is for all the ads. On mine the ads are there at the top of the page and then disappear further down.

That’s what I see on my laptop - surely that would have been picked up in all the testing they claim to have done?

so either it’s a screen full of nothing on a laptop or it’s endless scrolling on a phone.

and why has the automatic capitalising at the start of a new line disappeared?

MN should be an enjoyable experience (well, a lively experience!) but this is just soul destroying. No wonder the thumbs down emoji is missing from the list of options.

All posts is in the drop down (on desktop) arrow next to "Talk" at the top of the page.
Click the down arrow, then customise.. you can set colours to your own/OPs posts, and how many posts you see per thread.
I have mine set to 100, but you can set it to All.

Help, I cannot work any of this new site out. The ONLY thread I’m on about what is going on in Ukraine which is BRILLIANT seems to have vanished. It was in Chat but I can’t find that either. I feel really upset!!
